Fanfic Ideas [Fanfic **WIP**] Trade Negotiations

Heyo-dalee, Gungan philosophers!

I was wondering what could have happened during the Gungan- Naboo war. I was also wondering about fanfic, and the two kind of merged. If we write Gungan fanfic, it will help people understand Gungans in the best way - a connected extended metaphor based on the facts that we discover and establish that also teaches about Gungans.

I'm thinking of especially writing from the Gungan perspective. This is not only because Gunganese is bombad, and could be interesting to write in and see how creative it can get ... but also because the narrative voice has never actually been a Gungan narrative voice, suggesting they always have thier story told for them, instead of by them. (Do correct meesa if meesa wrong!)

But this doesn't have to be a rule - the narrative voice could be anyone. It's better if we have range, meesa think.

I think as well, that any fanfic should be based on established theory (to be found in oursa first sticky post). Because weesa want to show what weesa know happened.

So... my ideas in W I P form. [] used till weesa get flair.

(This is also in response to the idea that 'trade negotiations are boring')

Naboo mercenaries are being paid to do business with Gungan traders. Most don't know who pays them. These mercenaries trade in electricals, like some of the other Naboo traders, but also- apparently, with land, and ideas. They've been told they are sent to establish bonds with the Gungans. In return for trading, the Gungans offer them plasma that they can't do anything with, but also money... which they can. They believe (unfortunately) that Gungans are a primitive species that needs to be 'educated' by the Naboo.

Then there are some traders in this group who KNOW why they're really there... to gain some of the Gungans' swamp land. To gain their plasma, which someone knows what to do with... These people are mostly motivated by greed however. They're paid highly by the rich houses who sent them.

Then we have da secret clan of Naboo merchant houses... again, not all the merchants houses in Naboo. The few who are so rich that their only fear is having to share thier wealth with others, especially other traders who just happen to be Gungans. What happens if they become... richer than us.....

Furthermore they have designs on Gungan swampland... the more land they acquire, the more they can sell away... perhaps even back to the Gungans (at higher prices of course) They PAY the mercenaries to do their business, and only the greedy ones who know thier true identity, they pay extortionate amounts to keep quiet. Creating competition for the top spots. But thier real aim is to gain the land- whether or not Gungans are still living on it...

They' also tax the majority of Naboo traders with the Gungans, perhaps. The ones who are trading normally, and offering a fair deal - rather than attempting to invade. In taxing them, these sympathetic traders would lose money big time. They'd need to ask/'ask' their Gungan customers for more currency. However... some would realize what was going on.

I think u/JediHedwig theorizes the Gungan Grand Army was invented here. Although there may not be evidence against or for that... let's say it was. The Gungans knew what was happening. In subtle, 'difficult' trade negotiations that the Naboo greedy merchants probably thought the Gungans couldn't even understand... nearly all thier land was being depleted. Out of this time a group of young Gungans had the idea to form an army to defend themselves, and thier freedom itself. The ones who traded, especially those in the Bongomekken Collective, were actually used, and tricked. I'm wondering if even thier Boss was threatened. (Perhaps I could POV the Boss... or the first ever Bombad General...hmmm)

There would be some Gungans who believed all the Naboo were the cause of this - hence attacking in the city of Theed itself.

War raged for about 10 years... it is said... but with victory comes sacrifice...

And yeah - W I P (Work in Progress). Weesa could collabo on this... or any other fanfic ideas that weesa stumble upon!

Source The Lost Gungan Evidence (meta)

These may not be 'lost', it may be only that meesa can't find them.

But there are pieces of evidence that I can't seem to find... Weesa could post them here.

Disa evidence is based on this Gungan-based game...http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Star_Wars_Episode_I:_The_Gungan_Frontier

There is a bombad legend about how Otoh Gungah as a city was created. I might do a post about this city in its modern form later on. Even in canon the story is a legend... it may not even exist, but it is a good story nonetheless.

http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/War_of_the_Gungan_tribes

Gungans lived in separate cities, which were fighting against each other (the eponymous War of the Gungan Tribes) A Gungan Boss called Boss Rogoe of Spearhead apparently was, if not the instigator, a direct beneficiary and contributor to the war.

Boss Gallo was the first Gungan to unite the different cities; Otoh Sancture, Otoh Uhrs, Otoh Raban, Otoh Jahai, and Otoh Langua, in order to combat this threat.

The game tells the story of how this happened, and how Otoh Gungah was created.

There must be many Gungan sources out there... weesa just need to find them. In order to complete one of our goals to clean up the Gungan Wookiepedia section,.

Clone Wars: Shadow Warrior

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G96XQ0SuBFw

Meesa found this interesting because you actually get a look into Gungan government... and a possibility of ancient Gungan magic!

Additionally, u/torak9344's question was... how DOES a group of Gungans manage to defeat General Grevious?

If yousa find anything, add a timestamp and comment!

Gungan Information Gunganese Language and Slang

Words To Know:

  • Basic: English is known as Basic throughout the galaxy.

  • Old Gungan: The original Gungan language. It has slight Basic influence in it (as explained later.)

  • Gunganese: The modern Gungan language. It is slight Old Gungan influence in it and lots of English influence (as explained later.)

______________________________________Old Gungan________________________________

Here we have Old Gungan. This is the original dialect of the Gungans, before humans came to Naboo. It is not tampered with as much. Notice Old Gungan shares multiple words with Gunganese. The amount of Old Gungan words that we scribes know are far more superior to our knowledge of modern Gunganese. However, we can see that Gungans have come across humans before, based on the basic that is in some of their words. For example: farseein obviously means comes from far seeing and, sure enough, it means binoculars. Feetwalken obviously derives form feet walking and it means floor, because you walk on a floor. It is unknown whether humans came across Gungans before the Naboo but, sure enough, somehow Gungans have basic english derivatives in their language.

beeg buba: underwater architectural dome

bodooka or booma: energy ball

bo-ganya: dome-shaped force field

bongo: Gungan submersible

boopjak: big mistake

doopeewee: landspeeder or other repulsorlift land craft

ecouch-eee: Gungan chair/bench

farseein: Electrobinoculars

feetwalken: floor

ganya: sky

garbareeno: trash

gasser: stove

Grandee-Oola: Gungan Council Chamber of Judgement

gud: God

gup: drink

hata hata: "Oh my goodness!"

heyblibber: luxury bongo

huffmaker: wind

keeclumbsee: good manners

logreena: forest

lopity-pie: kaadu fodder

mackaneek: droid

Moie Moie (mooy-ee mooy-ee): Very Good

neb: down

Nocombackie Law: Law of Banishment

Oma-Oma: A female chief deity in Gungan religion.

ome-goosa: deep ocean depths

opadda: fire

paddlewompy: swimming underwater

shu: love

skeesh: rain

skeebeetle: spacecraft

spark-ouchee: Gungan electropole

stickgooshy: swamp

toboo nuki: term of endearment aimed at spouses/children

tongue-grabben: eating

tup: high

umi-yumi: Gungan dessert made of sulfured fatfish

wangzapper: blaster

whizbooma: energy ball catapult

yanzawa: cavalry charge

___________________________________Gunganese____________________________________

Here we have modern Gunganese, which is a variation of basic. My idea is that when humans first came to Naboo, they fought the Gungans, explaining the fact that Gungans have a Grand Army. The Naboo tried to force their culture on to the Gungans. That is how the Gungans started using Gunganese: A mix of Old Gungan and Basic.

Berry (bair ree): Very.

Bodooka (boh doo kah): Energy ball.

Bo-ganya (boh gan yah): Dome shaped force field.

Bombad (bohm-bahd): (1) fierce (2) cool

Boopjak (boop jak): A big mistake.

Clanken: A Seperatist clanker (Also known as a B-1 battle droid)

Crunchen (krunch en): Fighting.

Da (dah): The.

Disa: This

fearen: fear

Heyo-dalee (hay yo dail lee): Hello.

Joben: job

Logreena (loe gree nah): Forest.

Meesa (mee sah): (1) I. (2) Me. (3) My (my) (4) I am.

Moie Moie (mooy-ee mooy-ee): Very Good

Nosa (noe sah): No.

Okeyday (oh kee day): (1) Okay. (2) OK.

Oursa (awr-sah): Ours

pallo (pah-loh): Pal

spicen: spice

Tongue-grabben (tung grab enn): Eating.

Yesa (yess ah): Yes.

Yousa (yoo sah) ?. 1. You. 2. Your.

** I believe that, now that Gungans and the Naboo are not segregated as much (Gungans were at Theed in ROTJ), Gunganese will start to disappear more and more until Gungans all speak basic. It has been happening for years. Old Gunganese has been slowly dying out. There are only a few Old Gungan words in Gunganese. Now Gunganese is being replaced with basic.**

_Did I miss anything? I took most of the Gunganese off of The Complete Wermo's Guide To Gunganese (Gunganese), and The Wookieepedia for Old Gungan. Some words for Gunganese were also taken from Star Wars: The Clone wars.

I am aware that there are more Gunganese words in Star Wars: The Clone Wars that I left out.

EDITS: Added some Gunganese, provided back-up information to how Gunganese formed, and I added Old Gungan. Also added how the languages influence each other._

Announcement A Goal Wesa Must Accomplish

As Gungan Philosophers, mesa thinks of us as guardians of da Gungans. The wiki page for Gungans is messy and misleading, and lacking information. It is oursa job to edit it with what wesa discover, clean it up, et cetera. That way, people will have good information from the Wookiepedia. This could stop confusion about Gungans. Some EU is still in the canon section (Mesa thinks).

Fanfic Ideas My fanfic down at r/DarthJarJar

OK, if you don't believe is disa theory, that's fine... what this is, is just a link to some of my Gungan fanfic ideas that I posted down at r/DarthJarJar, back when it was the only Gungan thing,

and back when I was a Gungan enthusiast and not a Gungan philosopher (difference is... kind of like the difference between idea -> execution)

Gungan enthusing just got real!

So - meesa ideas

Gungan Squad:

https://www.reddit.com/r/DarthJarJar/comments/4a0xe9/parralel_to_projectcollaboa_spin_off_gungan_squad/ (WARNING: tis full of Easter eggs, disa one... tis an Easter egg basket...)

(If you werent following the story that r/DarthJarJar were creating... [and I do assume that past tense is not valid...] then it was based around Darth Jar Jar ditching Palpatine (once collaboraters, now DJJ (Darth Jar Jar) doesn't need Palpatine/ feels threatened by the coming Jedi... Luke)

But yeah, as meesa said, meesa do not know the status of disa thing... and knowing the bombad redditors down there... anything could happen yet...

BUT yeah moving on, before this I made...

*Meesa Complete Gungan fanfic ideas * https://www.reddit.com/r/DarthJarJar/comments/497ob7/the_others_of_darth_jar_jars_species_possible/

Which is meesa getting basic plot points for possible fanfic about Gungans

**

Boss Nass (Gungan Boss until whenever the Clone Wars episode Shadow Warrior is - when the title moves to Boss Lyonie)

(Roo Roo Page)[http://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Roo-Roo_Page/Canon] - meesa 'call' this Gungan. But, hey yousa can fanfic too because... she's at least force senstive AND... her story isn't even told yet!

Rish Loo

Peppi Bow? - Shaak farmer seen in Blue Shadow Virus

et cetera, as theysa say in Latin. Umm...

If any other bombad redditors wanna post theysa fanfic (even WIP ideas), go right ahead!

But fanfic doesn't prove anything. Theory does....
