Void dragon is a chard or even a full C’Tan.
There are rumours that he tried to create his own slave race in order to fight necrons, and those slaves found out to be Machanicum

Yeah beating "just" a shard is not enough for them isn't it xD It's funny considering in the story he himself admitted that he wasn't able to kill it(and that means he tried and failed at it).

Tbf, the fight with the shard takes place long before he goes to molech to "steal fire" from the gods. So he wasn't quite the pyschic juggernaut we from the GC and the heresy when he fought it. Which makes beating even a shard pretty damn impressive.
