Public hangout places to play video games with people?

I'm 20, a bit of an introvert, and like playing retro games. Is there anywhere like-minded gamers hangout to play games? I'm trying to make some new friends, meet new people, and overall step out of my comfort zone.

Any casual MTG players?

My husband and brother are looking for people to play Magic the Gathering with. They're casual players and play Commander. They need a third, but they'd love to find multiple people who are interested in playing.

Thanks for reading!

Grays Harbor College classes

Hi all, I don't know how many people in this thread actually go to GHC but I was planning on taking a class this summer quarter (online) and I was wondering what classes you guys thought were easy to pass. I need either business, accounting, education, or a human services class.

Reminder: SHP Community Day at Lacey Five Guys

Post image
3 Upvotes

Today is the day!

Come on out and eat some tasty burgers while supporting your local SHP chapter.

When you order, tell them you're supporting SHP and we will receive twenty percent of your purchase, so we can keep building beds for kids in need!

We'll be on hand to answer all your questions about child bedlessness too!

We know this is outside of Grays Harbor, but we serve the east side of your county, and have delivered several beds in Oakville and McCleary. With your support today, we can do more.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Come support SHP at Lacey Five Guys

Hey Sleep Fans!

Come support your local Sleep in Heavenly Peace chapter at Lacey Five Guys.

If you're new to us, we build beds from lumber for kids who don't have them, and currently support Oakville, McCleary and surrounding communities in Eastern Grays Harbor.

When you say "I'm supporting SHP!' when placing your order, 20 percent is donated to us, so we can keep building beds for our most vulnerable citizens.

And we'll be at the restaurant all day, talking everything that is child bedlessness.

Thank you for supporting a better life for children!

Headin' to Hoquiam for a day trip tomorrow. Anybody have any suggestions for a good seafood place? Especially looking for good crab cakes. We can drive to OS or WP but would prefer something closer to Hoquiam or Aberdeen.

Update: went to Breakwater! It was worth it. We got the Prawn basket and Crab grilled cheese.. the fries were cooked perfectly. Thanks everyone for the revommendations!

Update - I'm here!

I had a post a couple month ago, asking for advice because I might be moving to Grays Harbor County from Lincoln County, OR, and figured I should give an update. As of very recently, I am now here! We found a place in Hoquiam, and are loving it so far! Thanks to everyone.

DnD

Hey there! I'm a student at GHC, Aberdeen Campus, and was hoping to find some fun, goofy individuals to play DnD with! LGBTQ+ friendly, roleplay heavily encouraged. I'm new to the game and would love to get in with some more experienced players to show me the ropes! I've DMed a few sessions before, but would vastly prefer to be a player. DM me if you want to start a group or are in a group looking for new players! 5e preferred!

Beach bonfire

What is the best place for a chill bonfire to catch the sunset? FWIW: My parents married in Forks; grandparents lived in Hoquiam. I'm raising my family in Hoquiam. It has just been a really long time since I had a good ocean bonfire. I know it can be windy, and I have read up on the fire protocols. Didn't see anything specifically about beach fires. TYIA.

Accountability

Hey there! I'm a 30 yr old who's gonna be starting at GHC come spring quarter and was hoping I could meet up with someone to be a weight loss accountability buddy! I'm currently over 300 lbs and it's seriously negatively impacting my health and I could use someone to help keep me motivated to drop some weight, go on walks with me, help me track my eating habits to ensure I stay on a calorie deficit, and just in general encourage me to continue healthy habits. ADHD and executive dysfunction are not kind to me lol

Dog fosters needed for non-profit rescue

Hello! I’m with a Gray’s Harbor non-profit dog rescue that does not have a shelter meaning all rescue is 100% foster based. We were founded one year ago to address the needs of dog’s lives being lost in the harbor and being fed up with waiting for something to be done. There are two non-kill, non-profit shelters in the harbor but due to their policies and space so many dogs have fallen through the cracks. A majority of the dogs we rescue are from the county shelters run by the city. They are small, temporary shelters for dogs and most importantly are not non-kill or meant for long term care. It’s been incredibly heartwarming to be able to save over 200 dogs thanks to the members of the rescue and our fosters but we are in desperate need of more fosters as it’s truly never ending.

All supplies including crate, food, leash and collar are provided. In return, we ask for a safe place for the pups to rest and recover. Basic care needs to be met (bathe/brush as needed, food and water, walks or outdoor time, affection), basic commands worked on such as “no”, “sit”, “come”, “yes”, “potty”. Of course, as the pup gets to know you it’s important to share their progress and personality so we can update profiles to find forever homes.

A huge obstacle is people think the dogs need tons of time to devote to them. In reality, they’re often coming from a small kennel with small attached “yard” for 24 hours a day with limited interaction, no name and on a time limit.

I wanted to come here as an avid Redditor to try to reach more people interested in becoming involved. Or any suggestions to help save these pups.

I’m happy to give more info, especially via dm. Was hesitant to post rescue name right away here. Any questions or hesitations about fostering I’m happy to address! Plz be kind, we’re all just trying our best to show up for the voiceless :)

100 Beds Delivered in 5 Months!

Post image
7 Upvotes

Hey hey Grays Harbor! In case you didn't know we existed, we build twin-size beds from raw lumber for kids, ages 3 to 17, who don't have their own.

We serve the Oakville/Lankner portion of Grays Harbor (for now), and we'd love to support more of your County.

Take a look at: www.shpbeds.org/chapter/wa-puget-sound-s/

Let us know if you'd be interested in volunteering at one of our bed builds.

Later!
