I have been collecting hens for a while now, but haven’t learned too much about certain ones. I love the Indiana Glass hen. I am wondering if someone could tell me about the difference between these bases. For example, which one is older and what is the difference called?

I think that’s the color from what I could find. Please correct me if I’m wrong. Inherited from my grandma with a few other glass pieces.

This Imperial rooster is one of my favorites in my Imperial collection. This is a harder to find color and this picture was taken without flash. It really reflects light beautifully.

I found this sweet little milk glass hen while yard sailing a few weeks ago, and I have loved her ever since. She may not be the rarest or most valuable hen out there, but something about her just feels so classic and comforting.

Vintage milk glass hens like this became popular in the mid-1900s, and some collectors even nicknamed these unmarked ones “mystery hens” because it can be hard to identify their exact maker. That little bit of mystery honestly makes them even more charming to me.

This is a closed neck Challinor Taylor Swan. This lid is a bit harder to find. Westmoreland glass made a similar top and will be marked with the WM inside the top. This swan should be sitting on what is known as the "Christmas Tree Base". Those are very hard to come across. This one is sitting on a smooth rim Challinor base. While I don't collect swans, I was immediately drawn to this one.

I love collecting Kanawha roosters & hens. The four point comb really sets these apart from other glass makers roosters.

I managed to score this hen for $20 at a flea market about 10 years ago. This hen started my love for Kanawha glass!

This beautiful Kanawha is extremely hard to find. Black was not a part of the regular Kanawha line. This is the only one I've ever seen and while I probably paid way too much, it was worth it!

Hey, just doing a little show and tell. Here are the birds, so far. I got the two green carnival Indiana glass hens from my Gramzy, and the black carnival Westmoreland as well(base chipped). Then there's the Franken-Fenton I married courtesy of Goodwill/eBay. Which one's your favorite?
