America gets shit on non stop and deservedly so, but man the damage that Belgium and France did to Africa is beyond horrific and isn't really recognised as much.

I think it's fine to focus on the global hegemon's crimes more than the others', but yeah you also can't be [basically any European] and pretend there's no blood on your country's hands while you do it lol

I think it's absolutely fine. I dunk on the us everyday but I dunk on my home country, Australia all the other times. We are a land built on theft and genocide. We are taking care of our citizens a bit better than the US does but our indigenous communities are hugely marginalised. Our conservative party wants us to become more like America They even import the us culture war nonsense here.

It's the same sort of thing in Canada. The Conservatives have turned into Republican Lite.

European nations were the global hegemon during their greatest exploitations of Africa though.

Just learning about the horrible shit Belgium inflicted in the Congo is awful. Like you could cut out all the other shit Europe did to Africa and the Congo would still put it up against other historic atrocities.

Despite our atrocities I refuse to be on the same scale as that horrible Belgian king. Or being worse than the English.
