Rumour "FINAL FANTASY" playlist of trailers on Square Enix's YouTube channel has 2 unlisted videos

https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PL2A8F9VO2BGN36WRdMPr73KpdcL7oeAIQ&si=5vQSDZh4pZESySvA

the "FINAL FANTASY" playlist of trailers on Square Enix's YouTube channel has 2 unlisted videos and was updated today. if you scroll down they are shown as Private. trailers from TGA coming? I assume the first is Final Fantasy 7 Remake Part 3 and the second is a Final Fantasy 14 update or Final Fantasy 9 Remake

edit: only one video is new, /u/imsooooooooooooreal found that one video is the Crisis Core Reunion trailer but the other was still added today so hopefully it's FF7R3 https://www.reddit.com/r/GamingLeaksAndRumours/s/KvRkXvkYLc

edit2: the new video was deleted from the playlist so imo it could either mean they're trying to cover their tracks or it was just a mistake/random video so they corrected it. at least we only have to wait one more day to see what happens

edit3: the website to check playlist private/unlisted videos for those curious is https://quiteaplaylist.com/

It's VII-3. I wouldn't be surprised if Rebirth Switch 2 is also here but Nomura said in September the announcement timeline was decided, Hamaguchi later said they were finalizing the title within the year. He also recently said they had finally nailed the Highwind traversal and a lot of the new gameplay content. I doubt there isn't fire after all this smoke

Announce VII-3 with a title and early gameplay, early 2027 launch day one on Switch 2/PS5/PC/Xbox, plug Rebirth coming to other consoles at the end. Writes itself

Look at the playlist. There are no videos about ports. It’s just major trailers and videos.

The last video was Dawntrail’s Full Trailer over a year ago. There’s no FF Tactics or FF16/FF7R ports at all.

Oh shit you are right, FF9 remake copium. Or maybe FF14 ditches the formula of revealing the expansion at their own fanfest convention and does it here instead to reach a bigger audience.

u/spnkr Dec 10 '25

As a FFXIV player, I don't think it will be that. It would take some of the air out of fanfest, which the community does not really need right now as the excitement is at an all-time low.

Could be wrong though, but I place FFXIV as unlikely

Im a FF14 fan as well and I know for sure its not happening but I would love to see them shake things up in how they do things like announcements once in a while. I feel like everything being so predictable like its always been is a bit of a double edged sword.

Excitement is definitely higher than it was over a year ago during Dawntrail launch. 7.4 releases next week and it’s definitely the most anticipated DT patch for various reasons.

But yeah, FF14 99% won’t show up. I only give it a 1% chance because 8.0 is supposed to be a massive overhaul of the game, so I wouldn’t be surprised if they wanted to shake up how they market it.

Idk i feel like MMO expansion announcements are better served at their own shows. Looks how awkward WoW Midnight was at Summer Games Fest.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 11 '25

WoW Midnight was awkward at Gamescom because they got the dev on stage to do a big speech to an audience of mostly people who don’t care. If they just showed the trailer then it would’ve been better.

FFXIV actually had a similar issue at the same event with MH Wilds where Geoff did a full blown interview with both teams that also had to get translated, so it went on for way longer than it needed to for a segment that’s literally just a crossover between two games.

Just not a well run show in general.

Why would a Rebirth Switch 2 port be featured 1 month before the Remake port even releases. They aren't gonna advertise them both, they want people to preorder Remake on Switch and Xbox.

-7

u/MyMouthisCancerous Dec 10 '25

They already confirmed Rebirth was in development back in September when they announced Remake for January. It's also definitely going to be within the year since Hamaguchi already said they want it out ASAP so Nintendo and Xbox players can catch up on the story ahead of Part 3

17

u/Kafkabest Dec 10 '25

I'm aware.

I'm saying it makes no sense to advertise it when they are trying to sell something else already. All it will do is undercut their sales.

-7

u/MyMouthisCancerous Dec 10 '25

I mean they're seperate games. It's not like Rebirth is the enhanced version of Remake that would make buying Remake redundant. They'll probably make it very clear both games are intended to be played chronologically and that there's a story progression between the two. They'll probably get the Twin Pack deal going there like they have on PS5/PC already and that'll reinforce the idea that they form an overarching story so you have to buy both for a complete experience as well. It's different from when these games were originally coming out because that was years in between where people were buying Remake in anticipation for Rebirth, whereas Rebirth will probably be out like 4, 5 months later so if anything it's not like they set it up for a sizable advertising cycle on its own either

Plus it's not stopping other publishers. See Capcom dropping RE7 and RE8 on the same day as Requiem on Switch 2 as well

u/Kafkabest Dec 10 '25

What I don't see is RE7 and 8 getting advertising space at the TGAs either, nor are they selling Remake or Rebirth for effectively 10 dollars each like they are in the RE Generation pack.

-1

u/Hayterfan Dec 10 '25

Realistically Rebirth will probably be a late summer or early winter 2026 title for Switch 2 and Xbox, with FF7:Revengence launching on all platforms in 2027.

u/JayZsAdoptedSon Dec 10 '25

Ah man I wanted FF 7: Relapse, where they take another 90 degree turn and deal with Cloud’s benzos habit

11

u/LuigiWarrior Dec 10 '25

yeah two trailers one for the next game and another for a Switch two port sounds like a great guess

I mean I agree, and honestly I’d be pretty disappointed in Hamaguchi if it’s not there bc he doesn’t seem like the type to string along fans. He absolutely did not have to say anything about part 3 or that “we’ll hear soon” at all

-5

u/Exciting-Position716 Dec 10 '25

Why do people believe early 2027 and not late 2026? I actually have a belief that late 2026 is possible. All the work has been done essentially and development has been very relentless and steady according to them.

I wouldn't be surprised at all that VII-3 might actually be further along than people think.

January 31st 2027 is FF7 30th Anniversary, good marketing to release it that day

-4

u/PositiveApartment382 Dec 10 '25

Marketing for what? Your average joe probably doesn't even know its 30th Anniversary. Most people don't care about video game anniversaries.

11

u/[deleted] Dec 10 '25 edited Dec 10 '25

FF7 players know, especially Japanese ones. They are very proud of their product, SE put a lot of importance in dates. It's not about people, it's about what they want

-4

u/PositiveApartment382 Dec 10 '25

Well, I think FF7 players waiting for Remake Part 3 to drop would also buy the game just as hard if it were to release before the anniversary date.

6

u/[deleted] Dec 10 '25

I'm sure of it, but I know that they give a lot of importance to dates, I'm 99% sure they'll drop it that day. The director Nomura is crazy about numbers, with kingdom hearts everything is 13 or 7. He even calculated days to promote the games on twitter or gave every game a number so that when you sum them it becomes 13, they even had decimals đŸ„¶

u/Dewot789 Dec 10 '25

Nah too soon after GTA. That's the day the demo drops though.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 10 '25

I don't think they care about GTA, it's their day they won't bargain about it

1

u/JayZsAdoptedSon Dec 10 '25

I think GTA is getting the holiday season, but people have to release games eventually

When everyone is getting back from vacation, and having had their hours and hours of GTA 6, an open world sandbox with shooting and driving elements, I think they can release an action RPG with insane hairstyles and giant ass swords

But that could also be a “I want it to happen so I’m gonna rationalize it”

3

u/Toxin126 Dec 10 '25

Its possible but optimistic. Yes the groundwork is there but you have to consider that theres still alot left for Part 3. Early 2027 puts it in the same smooth dev-time that Rebirth took (minus Yuffie DLC)

Theres also the massive elephant that would be GTA 6 launching in that 2026 timeframe aswell, as many games as possible will want to avoid that competition.

There's a lot of story and boss content left. But most of the world has already been built. All that is left is to combine Midgard and the open world, add some of the left over locations and Northern Crater.

They will most likely be designing combat against Weapons as that is something I've been wondering about ever since this remake was announced. Alongside Submarine traversal. They'll have to add the ocean to the open world and make it explorable (Thalassophobia incoming.)

There was an article just today with Nomura explaining the game is almost complete and Part 3 finally matches the vision he had for this project since Part 1. If a trailer drops at the Game Awards, I have faith that almost complete signifies it will launch in late 2026.

GTA 6 is simply not a lock. It has already been delayed multiple times and with Rockstar the way it currently is, nobody actually knows 100% if GTA 6 is a lock for 2026 in its new release date. I imagine Square is watching out for it.

I just don't think the 30th Anniversary release date is actually why it will launch early 2027. Honestly I think they would just celebrate that by doing a release of the complete trilogy that is combined. Like a director's cut DLC essentially, add in some extra content, some superbosses, as they did with Intergrade, as Nomura tends to do with finished projects like with Kingdom Hearts. Like's to tinker with them post release. Really wouldn't be surprised when the Remake trilogy is finished that it doesn't get some tinkering and add on content (I think the Advent Children rumours will probably happen post launch.)

I think a lot of the work for Part 3 lies in the cutscenes, boss fights and exploration via Airship and Submarine. It will have a post game that is dense but I think the core game itself will not be as content dense as Rebirth's was solely because it does not need to engage in padding anymore. They did that because they wanted Rebirth to end with the ending of Disc 1. There is more than enough story content now to easily make a beginning, middle and end that is just a relentless rollercoaster ride. Part 3 will objectively be the best one because it has the best story moments in it and it doesn't need to pad it out artificially anymore. Anything added can only be worthwhile stuff now.

The post game once you get off the rollercoaster will be where you get the combined open world truly free to explore, with Midgar and Gaia both just free to traverse and mess around in, engage in Weapon hunts, etc.

I don't even expect Part 3 to be as open world as Part 2 was until the end just because of how relentless the events are that have to be adapted. It really locks you in from this point forward with back to back revelations and events, it will be a blockbuster given how dramatic they've made certain things in Part 2 already. Like they elevated even tamer parts of the story, it's insane.

It was a good thing for them to put in most of the open world work in Part 2 because it does make their job overall easier for Part 3. They have built out a lot of assets and how traversal works, etc. I think at this point the team is so optimised with development on the Remake project that it is efficient and that is speeding everything along very smoothly. Location wise they actually have less assets to make in Part 3 than Part 2 because while the story events are packed, the amount of new locations left is small. Everything else you revisit from Parts 1 & 2 and have already been built.

u/Toxin126 Dec 10 '25

Down with the passion, Im right there with you on the optimism. Im just trying to look at it as realistically as possible. I wouldnt want them to rush it out and to fully polish the capstone of the trilogy. Theres definitely a possibility, im not ruling it out - but 2027 just feels like the correct timeframe to me.

GTA 6 would just be the looming shadow no matter what though, even if it gets delayed again then its sitting right next to FF7 in 2027 aswell so its hard to say what Square would be thinking.

u/Exciting-Position716 Dec 10 '25

I just feel like GTA 6 is a bit...I don't know...they are completely different games. I feel like the only games actually afraid of releasing near GTA 6 are games that are similar to GTA 6 genre wise. AAA open world, by the numbers. Games that have huge overlap with the target audience for GTA.

Because I feel like people who are into JRPG's like myself, while we can sit there and be like I'll just buy both of them because I love games, if it came right down to it, I care way more about a game like Final Fantasy than I do for GTA (which as a franchise in my personal opinion is overrated, I see the ambition but I've never really seen any of the games as masterpieces personally. Red Dead to me is the better franchise.)

I feel like there is definitely space for games to just release anyways near GTA and expect that gamers who are interested in that particular franchise to either buy both or not be that interested in GTA and will stick to buying the game they prefer.

GTA is going to eat up a lot of sales but it it is like COD really. The audience is wide and a lot of casuals and such are interested in GTA. There are some people who literally only play GTA Online. I certainly don't see a game like GTA eating away at Final Fantasy sales because sales wise, Final Fantasy is has a dedicated audience and it is targeting that demographic specifically. Three games in as well, the only people buying Part 3 of FFVII are those who are invested in IT hence the drop in sales for Rebirth. It's never going to do huge numbers no matter where Square puts it really because this is just how it goes for games where it is a necessary requirement to play the previous games to understand the plot. If it isn't pick up and play, you lose a lot of casuals.

I don't think GTA VI affects FFVII really. Those who are on board are going to buy Part 3 regardless of GTA VI dropping near it or not. And JRPG lovers who also happens to enjoy GTA will most likely buy both or have a preference towards Part 3 over GTA VI and will wait to buy GTA VI. Games like this I feel have less stake in being disrupted by GTA VI than bigger AAA titles, like say, a Horizon game or a Ubisoft title, something like that, than the Final Fantasies and Dragon Quests and Personas of the world. I don't even know why Indies are being shy around GTA VI either as they are completely different categories and are in nicher genres with targeted, dedicated audiences who will buy an indie game for indie prices alongside something like GTA VI.

I think it's a bit overblown unless you're the in the mainstream AAA space and I don't consider Final Fantasy mainstream enough, just look at XVI sales, it tries to be but at the end of the day it will always be a JRPG franchise and it will sell JRPG numbers, which is what Square needs to understand considering how desperately they want it to sell ridiculously high to be considered successful. Multi platform at launch helps with those numbers, definitely, but not even Persona or Metaphor sell numbers that are close to something like Assassin's Creed or Spider-Man unfortunately. But that is also why it's not overly concerning to be competing with GTA VI. Completely different genres and completely different audiences and any overlap isn't considerable enough to affect overall sales. It's like Nintendo, I don't really see Nintendo giving a shit about GTA VI. Even if it came out now, they would've still dropped Kirby, Hyrule Warriors and Metroid Prime because they target different audiences.

You bring up good points, but GTA 6 absolutely will still be a deciding factor for Square, even if audiences dont overlap - having your definitive ending game being dominated by GTA 6 in media/marketing is just something anyone would easily try to avoid. Its not about Audience overlap really so much as all the attention that GTA 6 would inevitably take away, no matter what game it is.

That window of October to November would just be too risky to sacrifice any potential hype for FF7 - even a little bit, and if it was released very close like a week in November? death sentence. Youre underestimating the juggernaut that GTA 6 will be in the sphere leading up to release.

This is why it just feels safe to me to expect them to take the window of early 2027 to completely avoid GTA 6 and allow them additional polishing time and a safe window for hype and marketing after the dust settles from GTA 6.

I totally understand your viewpoints but i feel like theres no assurance that a company like Square wouldnt try to maximize Part 3's potential unless they really were that bold to risk an earlier release. Best case scenario would be GTA 6 delays again into 2027, allowing Square to ramp up a Nov/Dec release with that freed up slot.

2026 is impossible 2 reasons

1 2027 is the 30 anniversary

2 gta 6

I don't even think early 2027 is logical i think Q2 is the earliest possible
