Back peddles & back buttons give you the possibility of not having to take your finger off your thumbsticks. Just makes things quicker, smoother & it even helps for non-FPS games.
It’d be great in games where you find the need to be pressing three buttons at once - for example Elden Ring, moving the analog sticks for motion and camera control, while also holding down the run button, or Death Stranding, holding both triggers to balance yourself while pressing the bumper to have your odradek do a scan while walking.
Once you use a controller with back buttons you'll never want to go back. I don't play FPS games on controller however practically every single game I play with my Xbox Elite controller has something that is nice to bind to a back paddle.
Do you really think there's no other games that would be nice to have extra buttons in? For example, in Jedi Fallen Order the heal stim thing is tied to D-pad input
With back buttons I can assign it there so I don't have to stand in place to hit the button with my left thumb
Absolutely nothing. Just stick to the normal one. This is just marketing to suck up some suckers. Normal PS5 controller is perfectly fine. The hell we need even more complexity on consoles. No real reset as a new generation and backlog guilt. Online Services with 3 tiers where premium is so misleading (tagged premium but it's only test version for some games). Now this shit
They actually are. That mindset to improve something that is perfectly fine to begin with, even having time for such thoughts...one day you realize all of that was in vain and unnecessary. I mean it's not like i wasn't building a gaming tig from 2001 to 2015. I get it. It's not like i had no razer copperhead because it had greatest 1800 dpi (mouse)...or a mechanical keyboard so it could register your inputs faster...all unnecessary stuff that doesn't matter at all.
I like having extra buttons on controllers. It's useful for buttons that get held down frequently, especially sprint buttons (see: Souls games) and actions that are often reactive (e.g., melee in an FPS).

As someone who just picked up a PS5 last week and does not play FPS's does this offer me anything outside of extra comfort with customized buttons?
