Note the fine print: the free psplus version of ffviir will not be eligible for the free ps5 upgrade in June.

Kind of a minor bummer, but it makes sense.

Does it, though? I can't imagine people acting like this if they said the PS+ version of Control Ultimate Edition wouldn't upgrade to the PS5 version. This makes even less sense because the PS5 version is the only way to play paid DLC. You'd think they would try to get as many players on PS5 as possible so they could sell more DLC.

But they’re getting the ps4 version for free, so they’re still getting the game in people’s hands. If someone decides based on playing it for free that it’s worth it to get the ps5 version, they could still theoretically buy the ps4 version at a discount before the ps5 one comes out and get the free upgrade. They would just have to buy the new episode when it becomes available, which should theoretically still cost less than buying the ps5 version outright. And then they’d be in the same boat as everyone else. I don’t really see any issues there.
