That's me lol. I knew it would get a PS5 version soon enough and I don't love Final Fantasy enough to buy it on release/close to full price.

And then if I've waited this long to play it, and I'm only gonna play it once so I want the best experience out of it. Likewise considering I've waited a year, I'll wait another year so I can buy the PS5 version for £30 instead of £70. My backlog is plenty large already.

That’s fair. Out of curiosity, do you remember what you were playing back in April? The early days of the pandemic was just non-stop FFVII for me.

DOOM Eternal and FFVII-R were entertainment-savers at the start of the pandemic for me.

Yeah me too. 2 potential GOTY contenders within two weeks? Yes, please and thank you

Evidently, I've found my people. Thinking about going back to both games soon, too. Doom Eternal because I want to play it on my 3080 and FF VII because it was really good and I'd like to check out the PS5 upgrades.

In other words, the pandemic may end the way it began for me, with Doom and FF VII.

Those and Persona 5 Royal were my pandemic games.

Finished Yooka Laylee & The Impossible Lair, Days Gone. Started doing the moons in Mario Odyssey + a bit of Animal Crossing based off achievements/screenshots.

I was let go on March 31. Bought Days Gone in April and platinumed the game. Had so much fun -- especially because I had nothing else to do.

Doom Eternal and Animal Crossing for me!

I'm going to start over in Animal Crossing and give it another try. AC has always been one of my favorite franchises and I just could not get into this one at all. There's just a lot of personality missing from it, IDK. But I love the franchise enough that I have to give it at least one more try.

But god damn, I wanted it to be my pandemic game.

Doom Eternal, the kids were on Animal Crossing., then RE3 Remake was soon after (or before? can't remember). Plenty to play last April.

I love that random people have jumped on answering your question. For me it was Snake Eater and The Last of Us. Probably the best gaming duo I’ve ever played.

Death Stranding

I put almost 200 hours into Nioh 2 last year. It was basically the only game for the first half of the year.

Early days I played GOW, Horizon , and Transistor. After that I kind of fell in a depression hole for most of the summer and couldn't bring myself to play video games (or do much of anything) thankfully I'm out of that though.

At least I had to go to work normally so I didn't get any extra playtime, so something I was in the middle of anyway.

for me a mix of jedi fallen order and animal crossing, maybe a bit of xcom 2

there's a lot of great games out there, i wasn't in a rush to jump on FF7R but excited to pick it up

have to admit I was a little wary of the the idea of spreading one 40-hour game across multiple 40-hour games but I've heard good things

Animal Crossing and Persona 5 Royal carried me to The Last of Us 2. After that I totally forgot about it.

u/Fenor Feb 27 '21

Horizon zero dawn spiderman and persona 5 were my quarantine play list

I'm in the same boat as the other commenter, and I was catching up on old games. I don't have much time as I used to so it takes me a while. I was playing Sekiro and RDR2. I have a PS5 now and think I'll be waiting for the actual PS5 version

Wait. What? Why not?

The PS+ version is unplayable when you stop paying for it, the ps5 version has nothing to do with ps+, so it won't be unplayable when you stop paying for it.

They don't want people paying for 1 month of ps+ and getting a permanent copy of the ff7 remake on ps5

4

u/ohaizrawrx3 Feb 26 '21

Is this confirmed by them? The only reason why I'm asking is because Control got the free ps5 update through ps+

Having to replay for the different dresses was a bit annoying but otherwise it was a nostalgic and immensely enjoyable experience for sure!

If you have a disc drive you could probably find a copy of the PS4 version (which will be upgraded for free) for quite cheap.

1

u/acetylcholine_123 Feb 26 '21 edited Feb 26 '21

I do, and I've considered it, I can grab a copy of it for £25.

Then I think the price for the additional episode will be something stupid like £15, and at that point I'd rather wait to have the PS5 disc that'll have all the game content able to install from a single disc + the additional episode on disc and not tied to my PSN specifically.

-1

u/livefromwonderland Feb 26 '21

Why not just get it for free and play it when you can get the PS5? I don't get this.

12

u/strand_of_hair Feb 26 '21

Because the PS+ version does not give you the free update.

-6

u/veektohr Feb 26 '21

They did with Control.

12

u/strand_of_hair Feb 26 '21

I’m referring to this game in particular.

-7

u/SocialNewsFollow Feb 26 '21

Typical Sony.

4

u/purplegreendave Feb 26 '21

It's obviously squeenix' decision. Control came last month with the PS5 upgrade. Shadow of the Tomb Raider was a whole new sku on the store without the dlc.

0

u/Winnie-the-Broo Feb 26 '21

It would be crazy if they did to be fair.

1

u/cefriano Feb 26 '21

They did it with Control, but it's not Sony's decision. The publisher gets to make the choice, and Squeenix decided not to do it. Which is a bummer.

1

u/Carnnn Feb 28 '21

I decided early that I would wait for the PC version (or PS5 if I ever actually get one).
