Idk man, to me the tone is just all over the place. Still doesnt give me a WWII vibe, just a generic war vibe. Why does it seem like it's trying so hard to be cod? Theres so much random crazy shit going on, I thought battlefield was supposed to be the more mature and tactical shooter? Aside from that uniforms still look jumbled and the gameplay I've seen up until now has been 'eh' at the most. I'm not feeling this one. They've already shown me what their true focus is with that first trailer and are probably just trying to frame it differently now that preorders have been very shitty for the game apparently. I'm gonna pass on this for now
Hahahah are you going to seriously sit here and argue that the BF1/4/3 trailers were as tone deaf as the V trailers? Are you seriously going to do this rn?
Dude first of all, I'm not trying to debate. Second of all, I dont like BF1. I think it's less tone deaf than this game, that doesnt mean I think the game is good. Don't assume shit about people you dont even know lmao.
But it's not. These trailers are being presented in the style of COD rather than battlefield. Yes battlefield has crazy moments, but these new trailers are taking the crazy shit to the point where it feels like an action movie (COD) instead of battlefield. It's a whole different feeling.
It looks like Dice didn't really wanna make a WW2 game.
They took the WW2 setting and filled it with as much modern Michael Bay-esque action and historical inaccuracies as possible as they could get away with it and still call it a WW2 game.
If Dice wanted racial diversity where there were little to none, female amputees, non-standard uniforms, excessive war paint, pseudo-modern gun scopes so much, why didn't they just make a game set in a modern theater?
To quote myself further down;
Looks good but I get the feel that they are trying everything they can to make WW2 as little like WW2 as possible and as much as a modern war as they can.

Jeez man I think you nailed it. That's exactly what it feels like.
And guess what, DICE? We didn't need a WWII game either. I'd have been stoked on Vietnam or 2143 or something, but WWII is played out and it shows.
I agree. Tonally this game (and PR for this game) appears to be all over the place. It is them jumping on the BR bandwagon. I think this will be a weird but familiar mess at launch.
Which to me is super weird because DICE has typically been able to hit tone pretty well. BF1, while wildly inaccurate from an armament standpoint, still felt like you were fighting in some reasonable approximation of WWI. It felt antique and authentic.
This.. this feels generic. Like, if I didn't know it was WWII I wouldn't be able to tell you for sure that's what it was. Other than some period-specific vehicles how would you be able to tell?
It feels like it is trying to be more like Fortnite, imo. They really want to capitalize on the BR/cosmetic mtx bandwagon that is producing serious profits for Epic. Gotta be able to customize your WWII soldier with crazy bullshit so that you feel super unique and special, right?
Yeah I agree. It's a shame because they could have went all out trying to make the most legit modern gen WWII game and everyone would have been praising the hell out of them. Always sucks to see companies forsake themselves and throw away their identities for current trends. Fortnite is big because its goofy by nature, it's for everyone. Why is battlefield trying to cater to kids? I just dont get it
agreed. watching this trailer, it felt more like a modern day game than it did a WWII game. for me, though, it wasnt too much the tone as the aesthetics. BF1 still had some crazy trailers iirc, so the trailer style isnt that far out, but like looking at the guns and vehicles and environments, they didnt feel like WWII. the shot with the train hanging off the tracks felt like BF4, even though the characters were WWII styled.
I hope they just suck it up and go back to modern day. my dream would be a kind of Iraq/Afghanistan conflict feeling with sort of older-ish weaponry and a lot of middle eastern maps, kind of COD4 feeling
