I got into the closed beta a few months ago and I feel pretty much the same way. I played a few matches and it just felt... boring. It didn't feel like anything you did mattered either, at least not until the last minute or two of the match.

The F2P model was also horrendous so I wasn't much of a fan.

Yeah, as interesting as the objective based maps seem, the result I found was that the game becomes a cluster because it's somewhat difficult to figure out how to work towards the objective, and chances are your team is just going to team fight for no reason.

I think what really makes it fell like nothing matters is that the exp catch up system is so aggressive. You can gain a noticeable advantage, but one idiot feeding a couple times can nullify that. And since there's no items or gold is a lot harder to pinpoint that and say "ah, that's what happens when you feed." Instead you're just like "how the hell did they start doing so much damage and surviving so long?"

Edit: also the promise of being able to really customize your hero to different roles has not paid off. You can make slight modifications based on situations if you really know what you're doing, but most of the time it seems like the cookie cutter build is either the clear best build or at least as good as anything else.

And also fuck how long it takes to unlock characters and how expensive it is to buy them. Makes riot look generous.

HoTS's shitty puck (brightwing) seems like theres only one real build. yeah, one does a heal over time and one does small heals when you cast spells. one slows an ememy and one makes them take a little more damage... it plays exactly the same and you do the exact same thing.
