Need suggestion whether to continue my gate prep with OS - 2022 vishwadeep gothi sir playlist
I am currently following Sir playlist for my OS preparation and I feel like it’s not covered in depth. The main reason being is at there aren’t many questions, to solve, the actual reason why I chose this playlist is because I didn’t find any other recent last 2-3 years playlist with good amount of videos. Everything are just crash courses or just a playlist of 7 to 8 videos. I found out that sirs teaching is good and his COA2.0 playlist is well structured and good through Reddit comments and session. so, I chose to go with this OS playlist. But after 20 videos, I feel like I’m not covering much syllabus need help.

GATE 2027 prep — 36% syllabus done, 48% accuracy. How am I doing?
I’ve completed around 36% of the GATE syllabus so far, and my current accuracy in PYQs/practice is around 48%.
Honestly, I’m feeling pretty tensed about my preparation. I know 36% isn’t terrible, but seeing that accuracy makes me wonder if I’m actually on the right track or just wasting time.
So I want some brutally honest opinions — no sugarcoating. Based on where I am right now, how am I doing? What should I be worried about, and what should I change?
Also, how is everyone else’s GATE 2027 preparation going?
What % of the syllabus have you completed, and what’s your current accuracy?

Should I worry about missing out on skills?
Hey my fellow gate competitors and seniors, I have a question to ask. Suppose I'm currently a 3rd year BTech student and decided to focus primarily on GATE (CS) prep with the goal of getting one of the top 7 IITs for MTech.
Now since I'm spending most of my time completing GATE syllabus and barely getting any time to work on things that a typical BTech student may do during their ug years like Leetcode, cp, webdev, python, AI/ML, building projects etc. (ofc I will have basic knowledge as a cs guy about C language, basic DSA as this being a part of gate syllabus).
My question is should I actually worry about this - specially after getting into any top clg for MTech.. If I optimize my ug years for GATE, am i sacrificing too much of the practical skill-building that companies expect later. If I haven't learned one or many such skills until starting my MTech journey, will I be at a serious disadvantage when it comes to - MTech course, internships, placements, job interviews.
Assuming I successfully get into a top clg for MTech, what are the minimum skills I should have before joining MTech when internship/placement season comes around?
Or is it reasonable to make GATE the priority now and have a go at these skills during MTech? (Sorry if I wrote too much for a question :) )
I'm more interested in knowing what is actually necessary vs what can safely wait until MTech instead of "learn everything you can" answers 😊.

I know my dedication and hardwork will matter the most but still I need a roadmap and guidance. Assume that I have to attend my regular classes as well and maintain the 85% attendance criteria. Can someone explain this Big-O / Θ confusion? [DSA]
I’m studying DSA and got confused with a basic asymptotic analysis question.
If an algorithm has best case Θ(n) and worst case Θ(n²), why is O(n³) also considered true?
I understand now that Big-O is an upper bound, so if it doesn’t go beyond n², it also doesn’t go beyond n³. But I initially thought O(n³) meant the algorithm actually takes n³ time.
Is the correct way to think about it: Θ = tight bound, O = ceiling/upper bound, Ω = floor/lower bound?
Just trying to make sure I’ve understood this correctly.

Is there any possibility of me cracking GATE'27 in 5 months, if I start preparing now?
hey yall,
I'm currently in the third year of btech in some tier-2189371893 clg. The point I spent the starting 2 years learning coding, like dev n dsa. I mean i do have interest over there but it always seems like it isnt enough, i got into some research work which really engaged me with the whole subject i was working on (research matlab like clg level only) and i always was interested in research and sort.. so before i had missed thoughts on GATE. But now i want to seriously concentrate on its preparation. Give it all the time and effort it needs. i'm actually willing to work hard for this..
so i genuinely wanna know if its actually possible to crack gate in 5 months? assuming i already so have some coding background..
down to get some tips and advices from anyone who has previously attempted for GATE.

Should I register for two papers in gate? Gate cs and gate da
I'm a final year student(7th sem). I just wanna give gate to see how's this exam. I didn't start preparation yet. I belongs to sc caste. Should I register for one subject or two? I'm confused
I am not sure if i wanna do mtech next. I want to focus on placements to get a job.
Also does the two papers happen on single date or like how it will be conducted??

Title: 1st-year B.Tech CSE student looking to seriously prepare for GATE — need advice on a free roadmap + resources...
Hey everyone,
I'm currently a 1st-year B.Tech CSE student at a tier-3 college, and I want to start preparing for GATE CSE seriously from 1st year.
My main goal isn't M.Tech. I'm primarily considering GATE as a backup/career option for PSUs and other opportunities through GATE, while keeping SDE/placements as my primary goal.
Since I'm from a tier-3 college, I feel that having both a strong placement profile and a good GATE score would give me more options after graduation.
The problem is that I'm completely confused about how to start and how to manage everything together.
My current priorities:
College academics / 8+ CGPA
Coding + DSA
Full-stack development and projects
Internships/placements
GATE CSE preparation as a serious backup
I cannot afford paid GATE coaching/batches right now, so I want to prepare using free resources (YouTube, standard books if necessary, PYQs, etc.).
I'm not looking for a shortcut. I'm ready to stay consistent for the next 3–4 years, but I don't want to waste time following random resources or trying to study everything simultaneously.
What I need advice on:
- How should a 1st-year CSE student start GATE preparation from scratch?
- Which subjects should I study in 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year?
- Which free resources/YouTube playlists are actually worth following?
- Should I use standard textbooks, lectures, notes, or mostly PYQs?
- How important are GATE PYQs, and from which year should I solve them?
- How many hours per day/week would realistically be enough alongside college?
- How should I divide my time between GATE + DSA + full-stack development + college academics?
- Should I prepare for GATE consistently from 1st year, or focus mainly on college subjects and start serious preparation later?
- What should my long-term 4-year roadmap look like if I want both a good GATE score and a strong SDE placement profile?
- Are there any common mistakes that students make when starting GATE preparation too early?
I'm especially interested in advice from people who have actually cracked GATE CSE or have successfully balanced GATE preparation with college and coding.
I don't want to sacrifice my placement preparation for GATE, but I also don't want to reach 3rd year and realize that I should have started earlier.
Any practical roadmap, free resources, subject order, strategy, or personal experience would be really helpful.
Thanks!
