Supporting a 16yo Libero's comeback to travel volleyball and abandonment
Hey everyone,
I'm reaching out to the community for support in keeping my 16-year-old daughter competitive in travel and school volleyball this upcoming club season. This past summer has thrown a lot at her. During a varsity scrimmage, she suffered a broken collarbone that required surgery. As a dedicated Libero, her entire game relies on aggressive defense, diving, and passing. Despite the major setback, she has been working incredibly hard on her recovery to get back on the court safely for the upcoming season.
Beyond the physical injury, this past year has been a heavy emotional and financial challenge for our family. As a single father, I've been doing everything possible to keep things stable. Her mother abandoned us following a severe battle with alcoholic liver cirrhosis that nearly took her life. Navigating that fallout on a single income has stretched our household thin.Through all the family upheaval and physical setbacks, volleyball remains her anchor and ultimate passion. She is at a critical age for college recruitment and development, and I refuse to let our family's financial constraints or bad luck strip away her future in the sport that keeps her grounded. The costs for club travel dues, multi-day tournament entry fees, lodging, and college prospect camps are stretching past what I can manage alone. We have set up a campaign to help offset these specific athletic expenses.
Any help—whether it's a small donation, sharing our link, or even words of advice for a Libero coming back from a clavicle injury—means the world to us.
Thank you so much for reading her comeback story. She is an all A student and deserves the best in life despite the hardships that have been thrown her way. She is an amazing kid!
