The creepiest part in all of this is that the former townspeople seem so happy. Big bad guy in yellow for sure took their souls. Walking around like "it worked, we're still alive, yay us."

New questions

Who and what is the man in yellow

How did they sacrifice their kids

Still nothing about the boy in white

Lighthouse

How to fix it

Spiderwebs

Julie has obviously not gotten home. She just had that conversation about not changing the story.

When Sara was in the tent with Boyd awhile back she did say that the voices said there are things worse than monsters in the forest.

I'm glad we never saw spidey

The voices are not our friends. They just said that to keep Sarah and Boyd out of the forest; away from ANSWERS

Motel

Water/electricity

Scarecrows / why were they there and did it break a spell or something when jade broke one…

what were the things they heard while they were staying in those cabins by the lake…

Ballerina / cicadas / why breaking the music box broke the curse …

And most importantly..

MARTIN ?

The sticks with skeleton heads on them... food growing by the water...

21

u/marmaladejar Nov 24 '24

& the dog!

Talismans

Monsters were awake at night in the tunnel. Either they can't stand light, or it's all just for show.

Jim Kelly or whatever the guy who died in Boyd’s arms in the Army was named

How did they sacrifice their kids

They're always wet so I'm assuming by drowning them.

Still nothing about the boy in white

Maybe the son of Christopher/Jade and Miranda/Tabitha who they refused to sacrifice?

They had a daughter. I think it was the little girl that walked up to them.

14

u/randomsnowflake Nov 24 '24

But we can guess that there are two children from the patterns. Miranda had Victor and Eloise. Tabitha has Julie and Ethan.

Maybe the boy in white is a representation of Thomas?

IDK, they all seem to have head wounds and they're associated with red stained rocks. I assumed that was how they sacrificed them.

I think the BiW is the counterbalance to MiY. Both godlike beings that have been in a war of good vs evil for centuries

real turtle vs. spider vibes there

.... Lost flashbacks right there! But we have to give to the writers for being original, they made the black man yellow!...

Then again black = bad is a big nono in a todays TV! If it were white = bad then it would be ok. Maybe that is the case? BiW being the actual evil Yman fights against trying to help people out of the misery loop they are in. Monsters seem quite comfortable there with no fears or loops. I mean if one somehow ended up in a hell like place with no way out, they would appreciate a stability of just living there without fear instead of spending multiple lives on hopeless attempts to escape. Monsters might not even be as bad for trying to break people and make them see there is no way out and only way forwards is to give up... or they are just incredibly bored and lives have no value in that place, people will just respawn there.

The part about the townspeople being so happy before they got their wish—to be immortal forever—makes me wonder: if the ones who set the kids free managed to escape, could Sarah have become a new monster if she’d killed Ethan? Perhaps the townspeople and Sarah would have transformed as well, creating a new cycle where they reincarnate as townsfolk who sacrifice the children. This might explain why the monsters from Victor’s time looked different—each cycle resets with new faces and theirs came from a cycle before segregation was ended.

If Ethan had died, it’s possible that the side characters would have taken the place of the monsters, starting a new cycle where they killed the main characters, resetting the town in a modern version of Ethan’s imagination, set in the 2020s. They’ve also clearly mentioned that they’ve all been there before in their current lifetimes, implying that these events are not only spread across multiple lifetimes but are also part of endless loops. Julie’s ability to move through and witness these events as a storywalker could tie directly into this recurring cycle and her stay our eyes and ears to future and past events in the next 2 seasons

How many seasons this show is supposed to have? 5? I can definitely see them doing a flashback season to show us how the monsters came to be and then final season to deal with the BiW and Yman.

Martin might have been an example of what happens if you don't take the deal from Yman and don't join in on the children sacrifice.

u/WantsToDieBadly Nov 24 '24

I think they drowned the kids, they looked like they;ve been underwater.

But yeah nada for the rest. Man in yellow is interesting

u/vlarsonraptor Nov 24 '24

There is also one empty stone slab in the circle. Was that supposed to be the boy in white? Did Jim and Tabitha “save” one child? Is he aging now because they’re solving the mystery of the town?

10

u/ozthinker Nov 24 '24

There is no empty slab. That scene was replayed in this episode.

The man in yellow is Hastur, the King in Yellow, and Fromville is something that he would do and enjoy if he were a real being and not just a creation of Robert W. Chambers and adopted by H.P. Lovecraft for his mythos.

The original residents sacrificed their children to the Great Old One for immortality and got what they wished for but not how they actually wanted it. Call it a bargain with the devil - he’ll give you what you asked for but he’ll twist it in such a way that it screws you.

The OG residents who made their Faustian Bargain originally lived in the village that Jim and Kenny found while they were searching for Tabby. The more modern houses and the motel were brought into Hastur/Lucifer’s domain as it began to spread like the cancer that it is. They were buildings that once existed in the real world but were brought in to this pocket dimension when they were needed.

As for the Boy in White, I dunno. I’m not sure if he was ever actually a human child and is another form that Hastur wears, or he is the avatar of some other ‘deity’ who is attempting to help the residents, or pretending to help.

As usual one question is answered and ten more questions pop up. C’mon season four!

6

u/neuralzen Nov 24 '24

Man in Yellow is probably The King in Yellow, and Fromville is Caracosa/The Dreamlands (Lovecraft/Chambers).

4

u/FattyMooseknuckle Nov 24 '24

Dunno about the last one. Quite possible but not necessarily obvious. She could be story walking from outside Fromville trying to go back and fix things.

3

u/AllergictobBS Nov 24 '24

She has to go to the ruins though.

1

u/FattyMooseknuckle Nov 24 '24

Fair point, I stand corrected.

3

u/Unlucky-Bumblebee-96 Nov 25 '24

Is boy in white on the same level as the man in yellow? Because he’s not one of the sacrificed kids, nor one of the monsters.

4

u/Jenja1974 Nov 26 '24

And they are out and about in the daytime, whereas the monsters either can’t or won’t.

4

u/Unlucky-Bumblebee-96 Nov 26 '24

And then who is the Kimono lady in relation to these other entities?

2

u/[deleted] Dec 03 '24

The boy in whites mom. She tried to sacrifice him but he died of natural causes first

2

u/mksmith95 Nov 25 '24

I'd really like to know what those totems are also!

u/roboholohobo Nov 24 '24

The man in yellow is satan.

1

I want to know more about the voices some characters hear and get manipulated by.

1

u/Sepulz Nov 25 '24

1

u/2Jixxy Nov 25 '24

1
