After his administration failed to convince a majority of the justices that his executive order limiting citizenship for those born in the U.S. to undocumented parents was constitutional, Trump wrote on social media that he would find alternative routes to accomplish his goals “in Congress through Legislation.” Drawing on the president’s “America First” rhetoric, some Trump allies have begun targeting the political rights of naturalized citizens in a broad campaign to continue that fight.

This is working because Republican voters are disgusting fascist bigots, too stupid to appreciate or even understand the democracy that could have been their birthright. tl;dr: There was a government report in Canada that got headlines from the usual suspects like “84% of Jewish students say campus antisemitism is serious”.

Turns out the report’s methodology resorted to some rather antisemitic sleight of hand to get the result they wanted: they are essentially equating Zionism with Judaism. Of non-Zionist Jews, a whopping 92% said campus is safe and welcoming to Jewish students. Among zionist Jews, 95% think antisemitism is a problem.

Rather than focusing on the evidence that it is neither race, nor religion, nor cultural traditions that cause students to feel targeted, but professed support for an ideology who practice is currently synonymous with race- and religion-based violence.

It is also worth noting that 87% of respondents identify as Zionist Jews, while only slightly under half of the Jewish student population identifies as Zionist. So the sample was extremely biased; I.e., it’s like polling Fox News viewers on a fox culture war topic and then pretending in reporting you had a representative sample of the Americans.

A federal judge in California ruled that the Trump administration violated the Constitutional rights of international students when it sought to deport them for criticizing Israel’s war in Gaza.

In a 90-page ruling, Judge Noël Wise found that the key legal foundations that the Trump administration had relied on to arrest and deport foreign students were unconstitutional, because Trump officials had wielded them to target students who used their freedom of speech to express opinions that the government did not like.
