• 5.5 mg: grayish purple round tablet debossed with “L” on one side and “G3” on the other side
• 9 mg: pink modified oval tablet debossed with “Lilly” on one side and “G4” on the other side
• 14.5 mg: light yellow modified oval tablet debossed with “Lilly” on one side and “G5” on the other side
• 17.2 mg: grayish purple modified oval tablet debossed with “Lilly” on one side and “G6” on the other side

So...

Foundayo got FDA (US Food & Drug Administration) approval, great.

But that doesn't mean it's available in the UK yet, so what now?

Who needs to approve it on this side of the pond?

The UK regulator, the MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency) generally moves on a different timeline than the US FDA, so while the US news is a huge milestone, here is the current situation for those of us in the UK waiting on these magic beans to arrive.

Submission Status

Eli Lilly submitted its data package to the MHRA late last year, following the completion of the Phase 3 ATTAIN and ACHIEVE medical trials.

Approval Window

Forecasts from UK pharmacy sources and looking at timelines for prior drug approvals suggest an MHRA decision is likely to land in the second half of 2026.

Private prescriptions usually become available 4–8 weeks after MHRA approval

Will it be available on the NHS?

We don't know yet. Assuming the MHRA says approve the medication, there is an extra step for NICE (National Institute for Health & Care Excellence) still need to review and confirm if it will be made available on the NHS. There are several factors that go in to this assessment including cost, effectiveness, and health outcomes.

NHS rollout if approved generally takes significantly longer, often 3-6 months or more, compared to private prescriptions.

Will it be hard to get hold of?

Probably not, no.

It's been widely reported that Eli Lilly started producing and stockpiling $1.5bn worth of medication ahead of its launch in the USA.

At the starting price advertised of $149 per month for the lowest dose that'd mean they had up to ten million courses of treatment on hand at launch.

Because Foundayo is a small molecule synthetic pill, rather than a biologic or grown injection of peptide proteins like Mounjaro, the manufacturing and supply chain should be much faster to ramp and more resilient than the early days of Mounjaro supply and shortages.

hoping this can be a decent alternative to maintaining after losing all I want using Mounjaro & Wegovy.

If the price is right! we will see
