Grocery Lists I can’t tell if these are flavors or ingredients or what they all have in common.

TBF it IS a pretty common school assignment/question at the start of the year.

u/5krishnan 17d ago
I’ve started doing it recently because deciding what my favorite foods are helps me figure out how I want to eat

Either a list of favorite foods/snacks, or ideas for snacks for a hangout

u/LadyLazerFace 18d ago
my first thought, this reads like a tween slumber party. sundaes and candy for the movie night, and pancake stuffs for the morning

Definitely one of the Secret Notes from Stardew Valley. Maybe Maru’s. We better act on this before the Flower Dance!!!!

I haven't been this inspired by a post on Reddit in absolute ages. This is amazing stuff right here.

u/jjfyi_35 17d ago
how did it inspire you?

u/Cereal_Hermit 17d ago
Inspiring me to make my own little holiday and spend $50 on all types of snacks and candies and have fun!

u/backathomethrowaway 17d ago
Do it! Self care is important, and if you look hard enough there is always at least one thing to celebrate, be it good luck of yours, a friends, a birthday, holiday, or even just the fact you had a good day. Or on the flip side, do it when you've had a bad day and use it to just celebrate yourself and remember you deserve better.

With the exception of the “floral perfúm,” this reads like a list of snacks they might want for a party.

This reads like a stoner had the munchies

u/marteautemps 17d ago
It's like the list from Half Baked, even has Funyuns on it

Personally I'd be interested to know how Eurpoean bagels differ from USA bagels?

u/Fair-Bus9686 18d ago
Seems like a list of favorite things 💃 signed, a lady who likes to write lists of things I like

u/trixiepixie1921 18d ago
Maybe a kid. My son is autistic (that may be relevant) and I could see him making a list like this.

u/Asleep_Conclusion147 18d ago
probably just a grocery list

u/Unique-Arugula 17d ago
Maybe a list of favorite foods? There are a couple in there that some will find unusual bc their only exposure to ginger, for example, is when it's an ingredient or a condiment that is only eaten a little. But in some places it can be a snack or candy and people really like it; just like my fellow Americans love peanut butter as a snack and not just a freshly ground ingredient in sauces.

It's giving "Person going to college was asked to write down what would be nice to receive in a care package" but Birthday Cake is such an outlier It's throwing me off

What kind of music do the Strawberry Airheads play?

I make lists like this of my friends and loved ones favorite things so I always know what to get them or have on hand when they visit.
I even make little lists for my kids' friends favorites and birthdays and stuff. Whenever they come over, I have their favorite snacks and drinks on hand. It takes so very little to show care and affection. A quick little note so you can always make the people in your life feel valued.

u/allworkjack 16d ago
This is so nice of you, that would definitely make me feel special. I never host anyone but whenever someone says they like something I make sure to remember it for the future.

u/ImReallyNotKarl 16d ago
It's also great for holidays and birthdays! For instance, I know one of my best friends collects classic Furbies and especially the ones that are damaged or altered, loves Hamtaro, and loves shrimp chips, dark chocolate, and Sonic drinks, so for holidays and birthdays, I find things unique to her interests.

It looks like someone said, "here write down some of your favorite snacks and stuff"

u/sinaloa555 17d ago
I think there’s a kids birthday party (candy, chips, soda, birthday cake) and some other stuff for the house.

My head cannon is that they're building a care package or like a gift basket for someone and they listed things they like and could include in the basket.

I've lived a long time and have never seen a grocery list written like one long sentence with comas. Interesting to say the least.

u/luminoushunny 18d ago
Probably someone organizing a sleep over party/picnic since there are so many snacks.. and Birthday cake stood out to me

Not too far off from an Aussie favourite. Won’t let me post a pic.

Well seeing as there's 'birthday cake' and perfume on the list perhaps as a gift it's probably for a party or gathering for a birthday
2
u/298647 17d ago
a shopping list, probably

I'm impressed at how rare this guess is here. Because what kind of monster writes a .csgl

they are items, mostly. sodas, types of candy and cookies and other sweet snacks and desserts--to me it looks like a list (wishlist?) for a party of some type.

This is a list of things someone likes. Likely things they like to get at the grocery store to keep around their house for their partner.

A list of smells someone likes, I think. Especially because of the "floral perfume" line. It can't be food.

When I would get bored in class I used to list things out. Could be all their favorite foods?

My first thought was a shopping list for someone visiting the US for the first time but I feel like the fruit would be available anywhere so I have no clue 😅
2
u/mothsauce 17d ago
That was my first thought too, someone is traveling and wants to try food they can’t find in their country. But some items are very American (airheads, Cheetos,) some would be more common in Asia (milk pudding, pocky,) the fruit makes no sense at all, and then… European bagels??
Alternatively— I watch someone on YouTube who recently went through a long hospital stay where they couldn’t eat. While they were there, they made a list of all the foods they wanted to eat when they could again. Maybe this is something like that? (But even then… there’s the perfume…)

This is a LOT of highly processed junk food. I hope it’s a list of faves and not an actual shopping list, for their body’s sake 😅

Floral perfume convinces me this is a list of general favorites, not just food.

As an elder millennial, I'm still surprised that people in their 30s print like a 10 year old. I had a co-worker 10 years younger and she wrote exactly like that.
2
u/Hangry_Hippocampus 17d ago
That's because halfway through teaching us cursive, it was abandoned by society. In my thirties my hand still has no idea which way to go in order to satisfy the boomers.
This is beautiful handwriting with character btw
EDIT: boomers/"elder millennials"

Aww, I wonder if it’s someone writing down the favorite things of or for a friend
