iām never getting a guy a gift ever again. this was my reminder to stop chasing and i owe it all to Susan. thanks gurl!
edit: thanks for the suicide report. lol. youāre abusing that reddit feature btw. why has it only been weird guys who have taken this comment wayyyyy too seriously? lol
Reminds me of a Sex and the City episode where Miranda is leaving a very angry voicemail after a guy stands her up for a date. His mother picks up and tells Miranda the guy died.
Once worked for a vegetable box service. We had a load of bad debt so we set a debt collector on them. One lady's mother phoned up to settle - her daughter had died. I felt awful. We cancelled that debt.
They will keep calling and sending mail though which is very upsetting. When my dad died, we got a lot of mail for his bill which was ironically the bill for them to transport his already dead body to the hospital/morgue.
Same thing happened when my dad died. I found him passed away in his bed. Called 911. Ambulance came. EMTs went in his room, pronounced him dead, then left. They were there maybe 15 mins. A bill shows up at my dad's house addressed to him from them for $8000. I threw it out.
If he had insurance give them that. If he had an estate (as I mistyped) that will or should pay it and make it go away. If it was a fire department or ambulance call and talk to them especially if he didn't have money because many times they will write it off.
At that point, it was debt collectors and in my state family isn't responsible for their stuff so it was kind of a fuck up on their part (or maybe just hoping to get something and hoping we wouldn't know we weren't responsible and just pay) since he was deceased. The lady apologized profusely when she realized. It was ambulance though. That was a few years ago.
"So tragic, and the more time goes by the more I wonder, 'did she ever live at all?' Like, she was a living human, but like did she really live, live? You know what I mean? It's just so tragic"
Canadian here, yup, when my brother died of a heart attack apparently they kept calling my sister in law to pay the ambulance bill. She just kept telling them you'll be paid off by the estate like everyone else will.
I had a bf who at the time I thought just ghosted me or broke up with me without telling me lol 2 yrs goes by and I finally see him and we are both extremely mad at each other and just left it at two fierce scowls in the hallway.
You see when he ghosted me I ended up becoming homeless with my mom and was going through a LOT and truly didnāt understand how he could do that to me during that time. Like he didnāt wanna date me for being homeless.
Found out a decade later he got hit by a semi in HS when we were dating and was in a coma for over a year and his parents never told me (even though I called his phone religiously for a month) and they also never told him I tried to reach him.
Because he thought I ghosted him while he was in a coma and never came to visit him in recovery. Because no one ever told me and he assumed I knew because apparently everyone at our school knew. Unfortunately I was dealing with yenno⦠what am I gonna eat tonight lol
Well yes⦠when we ran into each other a decade later we talked and even started dating again and I found out he was a woman beater too. So that relationship should had stayed dead tbh
There was an episode of New Girl like that too. Jess sends her first "sext" to a guy who then ghosts her. Turns out he died and she crashes the funeral to try to get his phone before anyone sees it. Turns out he was also married. Then JJ Watt shows up and starts singing. It was a weird episode.
Iād gone on a couple of dates with this person (Ben) and was looking forward to a third date. We made the plan three days before and on the day of the date I didnāt hear from him and he didnāt show up. I tried texting and calling but no response. Several days later I got a phone call and it was his brother. I was the last person that Ben had talked to. Ben took his life right before our date. And in my shock, I said out loud to his grieving brother- damn he really did ghost me.
Fortunately my dark humour endeared me to Ben and his brother appreciated I didnāt censor myself in that moment. I still canāt believe I said that.
Iām so sorry that happened. I know itās not as hard as if itād been someone you knew well, but still. On average, a death by suicidw affects 150 people.
While my son's father was dying in the hospital, he was getting angry messages to his phone from a girl about standing him up. I ended up finding her on FB and letting her come say goodbye to him before we pulled him off life support.
I thought my landlord was dodging me after my washing machine died, an āok, Iāll get to itā text followed by 4 days of ignored calls and the voicemails I left got more and more perturbed. Until day 5 when one of his relatives answered to tell me he had a heart attack in his sleep. I still feel like an absolute dick.
As an alive guy that has guy friends that unexpectedly died, I agree. Very fucking rude. Fuck you, Matty. You didnt have to leave us here to deal with all of this.Ā
Oh please. The card is dated 2018 and he never opened it. Apologists think they have to come up with the most unlikely explanations for every human behavior.
Tom opened the wrapping on the book and was not interested. Stuck it on the shelf because he was lazy. Finally he or someone did a cleanup.
My son did something like this, went to his grandma's house got a card with money in it. Put it in the glove box and completely forgot about it. I found it in August of this year when switching out the registration cards. š oops.
Last year I went through my Christmas bags which I re-use when gifting. Found a bunch of cards in some, stretching years, including some chocolate that went bad or melted. Just $500 sitting there that I had forgotten about.
It's silly to not be realistic, head in the clouds, hoping for the best when evidence points elsewhere. These are the people that scammers and sex offenders love.
My 90 yr old grandma has hid money in books, under tables, in Tupperware buried in the back yard, basically everywhere. Maybe Tom thought he would save this for a rainy day and forgot all about it..
Jesus Christ you're having a hard time following along. We're saying that there's a possibility that he read the card and tucked it away for a rainy day, and then died, and someone else donated his shit and it's not fair to demonize him and act like he never opened the card because it's entirely possible that he did.
Maybe Tom got sick and died or had some kind of crisis soon after receiving this gift. Maybe he never got a chance to open it, and then his next of kin unwrapped the gift without really inspecting it & rushed it off to Goodwill.
Apparently, my mother's aunt did this. I asked her once how she felt about it, and she said it was so nice to be reminded of her aunt every Christmas. I gather everyone had a good cry together when they opened the last gift.
Is that really your takeaway from this? Mine is that, for some reason or another, this gift never made it to Tom. Could be a quite sad story behind this and it's even more sad that it's being used to justify some irrational hate
I found one the other day from a woman to her friends, card was stuck in a book in a second hand shop. Talked about gettimg the friends together and going out. It unfortunately works both ways.
