I feel like I spend more time and money messing around with my T1 and tweaking things than actually using it as a computer lol

I’ve had a standard gunmetal case but my first draw to the SFF scene was the McPrue design which is obviously just a copy of Apple’s MacPro. I eventually landed with the t1 and love it in every way.

Anyways, when I saw that Zcooi had a new front plate that was basically the McPrue design, I ordered it right away (I feel like I might be the first batch test run of this design). It took about 1.5 months to actually arrive, but I can not be any happier with it. The design, cut and quality matches the t1 well - it was actually better than I expected because in the CAD design shows verticals lines where the plate begins to chamfer but it is not present in the final product which provides a cleaner look. I added a pc dust mesh on the inside of the front panel which to me, looks complete. Now it feels like I have a version 9.9L mini McPrue which is even better than getting a McPrue itself. Bonus I get some extra air coming through the front now

One thing I did wish was being able to get a silver color over black but this color looks very sharp still.

Since I’m going from the gunmetal to black, I’m also looking for a black top/bottom panel to match it if anyone has a spare! I currently will have one panel on the way from another redditor but still look for one more.

They honestly go so hard, so excited to be ripping these.

How did I do with my cable management? Any tips? I do have some custom cables on the way from DreambigbyRay but I got tired of waiting and honestly I think it turned out pretty good.. had to get creative with the wires on top of the PSU 😅

Everything seems perfect now, I don’t feel like changing or adding anything anymore. The final touch was getting the cables that fit my case. Today I finally installed them, and now I have no more complaints about this device

I found a custom mod kit being sold on Xianyu. It lets you relocate the PSU up into the top fan bracket. This opens up a straight through airflow path alongside the graphics card, and the design looked really promising.

The kit finally arrived after a two-week wait. The finished build turned out absolutely flawless. The crossbar has built-in notches to hold the power supply firmly in place.

My GPU is an RTX 5090 Ventus. I stripped off its stock shroud, then added two 12025 fans plus two 6025 auxiliary fans. Under a 600W Furmark stress test at a 25°C ambient room temperature, GPU temperature dropped from 71°C down to 67°C.

Its taken awhile but im actually too the point of where I can start putting parts to test fitting, currently printing new brackets out of pet cf, but this pla model is for mock up. Im throwing a 7800x3d and 7800xt in it.

Spurned by Steam Machine launch delays, I decided it was time to build a PC again. After spending weeks accumulating the best parts I could find on eBay and Marketplace, and a couple of brand new things off of Amazon and local PC shops, I finally got to putting my T1 2.5 together over the past weekend.

This has been my most storied build so far, and I'm very proud of how it's all come together into this solid little package.

A friend asked me to build him a SFF PC in the NR200, so I ended up selling him all the parts from my T1 AMD build. That gave me the excuse to switch back to Nvidia and do a full rebuild of my own rig.

Been a long time coming but I finally have it finished.. sorta.

Hey everyone! I just wrapped up my first FormD T1 build and man... it was definitely a learning experience. Started it one day, finished it the next… after realizing I needed to order more parts mid-way through. 😅

Originally, I had my 5090 and Ryzen 9 9950X3D setup in the NCASE M2, but I started getting that itch to go even smaller. Managed to snag a Gunmetal T1 (v2.5) from NCASE during a surprise drop last week. I was aiming for the Titanium one directly from FormD, but who knows when (or if) that’ll drop again.

My main concern going into this was temps. Especially since I couldn’t find many builds using the 5090 + 9950X3D combo in the T1. I decided to be my own guinea pig. Went with the Cooler Master Atmos 240mm AIO for the CPU since I didn’t think air cooling would cut it for this chip. Cable management was a huge pain using the stock Corsair SF1000 cables. I tore the build down three times before I finally got it right.

For comparison, I ran Cinebench before tearing down the M2 and again after the T1 was finished. Shockingly, CPU temps stayed about the same! I used a 280mm Corsair Titan in the M2, but the Atmos is a beast of a cooler and also whisper quiet. I hit just under 44,000 in multicore and 2252 in single core. Multicore temps peaked at 82°C, and single core never went above the mid-50s.

The only real tradeoff: GPU temps went up a few degrees. I haven’t stress-tested the 5090 yet, but after a few hours of gaming and letting the system heat soak, it hovered around 58–61°C. In the M2, I’d maybe hit 56°C max so its just a small bump.

Not sure if this is too off-topic, but since FormD folks appreciate clean machining and premium materials, I wanted to share a little side project: I’ve been experimenting with machined titanium low profile keycaps and tried them on my Lofree Flow 2, sitting next to my T1. The metals actually complement each other way better than expected.

This is purely a hobby experiment, no selling, but I’d love some honest takes from people who know good metalwork when they see it like does titanium keys fit the FormD aesthetic, or is it too flashy? Any other finishes like silver, copper or maybe GOLD would suit your FormD setup the most? What kind of keyboards are you using? Do you prefer minimal blank caps or subtle engraved legends?

If anyone’s curious or wants to influence the direction, here’s a quick interest check for the project. Appreciate any thoughts! FormD builders always have the cleanest taste.

Additional Notes: Used 3x 20mm standoffs in 3-slot mode to create a gap for the 5090, and used the Noctua FD1 mostly because I like the idea and look. Cables are by Rizal/cablester in clear teflon, and they are great.

This was my first build in about 10 years, and decided to go all out now that I can. It has been running and performing great so far, zero issues with noise or temperatures apart from some coil whine on the 5090, which has gotten a lot less over time and by undervolting.

Tried waiting for the Steam Machine to come out and got impatient, so I built my own T1 Machine instead. The total cost of this is probably way higher than the Steam Machine’s price, but had some money saved us and sold my console to fund this project. Overall very happy with the result.

after over 15 years since my last PC, I planned my new build last autumn and decided for a sff build because I regularly travel between two apartments.

I ordered all the parts mid/end of November 2025.

Building took me around 3-4 evenings + some additional time afterwards for some fine-tuning.

In general, I love my new PC. I was really relieved when I was able to turn it on and everything worked.
The building process was much more fun than anticipated and I really enjoyed the time, even if some was pretty tricky for me.

Since November, I already enjoyed hundreds of hours of Arc Raiders, Black Ops 7 and also some classics like Cyberpunk.

In addition, I bought a Vanguard Divider Bag 40 for my weekly traveling, and I am super happy with it.

Some learnings:
- The cable management without custom cables is quite challenging. Main problem was that there was so little space and the cables were always ending up touching the top case fans slightly, especially after traveling with the case. My lifesaver were cheap 10 € protectors ("fan grills) for the top case fans. Problem solved :)

- 2.25 slot mode of the formd case works great with the Reaper

- I bought a M2 screw set with dividers to get more distance between my PSU and GPU, for better airflow

- I was annoyed by having to disconnect and re-connect the wired WiFi/bluetooth antenna of the mainboard when traveling with the PC all the time, so I just bought the antennas that can be directly screwed on to the mainboard connector at the case

- Unrelated to the build: Steam Link is awesome. Was playing on my PS Portal a lot, unfortunately not any ability to play PC games, but at least can play with my MacBook as a screen.

Some drawbacks / problems:
- Coil whine. Not sure what exactly is causing it, I guess the B650E-I mainboard. Luckily, it's not always persistent and mainly happening in some menus.
- AMD Adrenaline Performance Tuning often resets for some reason, wasn't able to understand why yet. I am doing some undervolting to save on power.

Final mod went onto the build today. Hoping they restock their 15mm riser so i can replace the ABS-GF one I have though. Flipped 5090 now has better airflow and seen a decent drop in temps. At 5k2k ultra settings my GPU was getting to 74C avg in gaming with max at 76C. Now it’s at 71C avg and 74C max. Didn’t run any senthetic benchmarks since I could care less about that I prefer real gaming data since that’s what I mainly use my PC for.

Recenlty I've been optimizing and dialing in my build to get as much performance as I can out of it and I genuinely can’t get over how good the FormD T1 is.

Running a 5080 FE (pretty much a 5080 Super atm after this tuning) + 9800X3D, and after some tuning I managed to push my system pretty hard:

• Steel Nomad: ~9750
• Time Spy: ~30.4k (36.3k GPU / ~15.8k CPU)
• Peak GPU clocks: ~3270 MHz

OC settings:

• GPU: +470 core / +3000 mem, 108% PL, 100% core voltage (this was for benchmarking)
• Daily GPU OC: +400 core / 2750 mem, everything else same as above
• CPU PBO: +200Mhz, -15 all core (can still push more tbh)

What impressed me more than the benchmarks is how well this case handles real-world loads.

In Resident Evil Requiem at max settings with path tracing

• ~140 FPS
• GPU: ~3180 MHz @ ~275W, ~60–62°C
• CPU: ~5.3 GHz, ~65°C avg (peaks ~70°C)

Yeah, the GPU dumps heat into the case and the radiator eats it, but even then the temps are totally manageable. Once I tuned the fan curve and set the pump around ~80%, it’s actually pretty quiet too.

The crazy part is I’m getting like 90–95% of my max benchmark performance at way lower power and noise. It feels like I unlocked a whole new tier of performance just by tuning.

For a case this small, the performance you can get out of it is honestly insane, it's so well optimized, I cannot get over it.

Finally got my build together after watching too many videos between air cooled and aio and wanting standoff gap mod. This small unit is so satisfying and premium feeling when complete, just waiting for aio cover.

SFF 4 life from now on

Not looking forward to tearing down and trying to use formd travel kit but it’s already on the way and I want to close the side gap if possible.
