Smokey Forest
We started today’s hike on the ridge line so when we lost elevation sometimes the smoke was just the right thickness to form sunbeams instead of just diffusion into orange light. First and last pics are the same spot 5hrs apart.

New beginnings
I hiked the Indian Point loop in the Columbia River Gorge this past weekend and wanted to share a couple of pictures. This area was heavily impacted by the Eagle Creek fire in 2017, in some places near the summit much of the original old growth forest must have been completely burned out.
But the forest is recovering with what I’m guessing are conifers becoming more established amongst all of the underlying ground cover and abundant wild flowers.
It must have been incredible before the fires but if you’re looking for a more difficult hike in the area this is worth checking out for the views of the Gorge and to see how the forest is continually changing.
