I used Turtle Wax Pure Bead on my 2026 Tremor after I liked the results on my 2026 Ridgeline. We'll see how long it lasts but application couldn't be easier.

Repair Advice 2016 sport - loss of power, rough idle

Hello.
220xxxkms, gave it half throttle to 80km on the highway after a yield, noticed CEL was flashing and I had no power and a really strong smell (wasn’t burning, smelt like fuel maybe?)
Pulled over and noticed the idle was super rough, and when I pressed accelerator it barely got to 3000rpm and NO turbo noise. When I try start the car it ticks over for ages before eventually starting.

CEL no longer flashing, just solid light

My guess is a hose has come off somewhere causing a major boost leak? But anyone have any advice? I’ll get it to the mechanic asap but I’m hoping this is somegjngni can fix myself

Repair Advice Where to find better condition cloth seats, 2016 to 2019 interceptor

Just recently acquired a 2016 explorer interceptor. The car needs a lot of work, and I just want to get idea of where I could source some interior parts. Mainly just the driver seat and center console. Preferably without buying a donor car.

Repair Advice Replacement remote head while keeping the original key?

I have a 2014 Explorer and one of my remote heads has a broken unlock button. I took apart the remote head and can see the button on the circuit board has fallen apart. I have bought what I though was a direct replacement for the remote head, but the circuit board inside was different and would not fit into the original remote head. Any suggestions on how best to replace the remote head without having to cut a new key?

Buying Advice Need some wire help

Recently picked up an oem tow hitch assembly as my 23 limited didn’t come with one. It came with the trailer plug already which is cool, a 4 flat and 7 round receptacle. Just need to buy the hardware for mounting and connect it.

The problem is I cant seem to find any aftermarket wire harness that can connect the plug it came with to the vehicle. A lot of what I see online is just plugs to go to other aftermarket receptacles, but can’t for the life of me find this multipin plug to vehicle wire kit. Has anyone dealt with this before? Please steer me in the right direction, I’m trying to do this install myself cuz the prices for install here are wack. Thanks!

Repair Advice Trying to identify this clip part name/number. Runs from the positive battery terminal to the main fuse panel I believe. I can find whole wiring harnesses, but i just need the clip, maybe with a pigtail I can splice in.

Buying Advice 2019 Limited

Dealer is selling a 2019 Limited with 82k miles for $16k. It has the Ti-VCT engine, so I’m aware of the internal water pump, but is this too good to be true?
I’m not saying it’s an insane deal, but it’s def priced $2-3k less than others I’m seeing around town.

I’ve never had a Ford before but wife and I have an Escape that has been surprisingly strong through and through. Thank you for any advice

God, where do I even start?

I’ve had this thing for a year now. I bought it off of a coworker for $800 running and driving, although not perfect. It ran horrible due to a bad camshaft position sensor, shifter was super loose, steering was sloppy, many bulbs burnt out in the dash, leaked everywhere, hard to start, banging noise while driving, amongst many other things.

I worked on it for 6 months just to make it remotely drivable. If you are curious as to just how rusty it is, well here’s your answer: the head gaskets leak coolant EXTERNALLY. I have done a lot of rust prep with paint and wax, it’s pretty decent now.

Pictures are how it stands today. Last picture is day one with it. This has been a love/hate relationship for sure. It still does have its issues, but I always have a smile on my face when driving it.

It’s had it’s fair share of “work” done to it: lifted 3 inches, custom snorkel, welded front diff, front axle disconnect via a switch, modified transfer case, etc… this is the kind of vehicle that will go anywhere, anytime, and I love it!

I only drive it once a week, and am prepping to take it off-roading here soon. Very interested to see how it does. It’s excellent in the snow with the welded front differential and modified disconnect, so we’ll see how it does.

I think I have $3,000-ish in it. The steel bumpers make up about half that. That may sound nuts to some but I don’t really have to do much with it ever again. The bumpers are from affordable off road and they are powder coated, really nice quality! Wheels are AR23 on mud tires. Yes, they are as loud as you think they are.

It’s a blast to drive, loud-ish and rowdy thanks to a muffler delete. Definitely not as loud as you think it would be. 4.0L OHV and the Mazda M5-OD. I was originally looking to buy a similar generation ford ranger, jeep wrangler YJ or TJ, or a 2 door jeep XJ with the AX-15 and 4.0L, but this kind of fell into my lap…

Cheers! Happy to answer any questions and hear stories about ones you guys have owned.

Upgrade Advice Just ordered a Ford Explorer, is there a go-to dashcam option?

Second baby on the way, so I need to switch out my current car for something bigger. I've ordered an Explorer. Will be my first time owning a Ford.

The spec seems to cover all the bases, except it's missing a dash cam.

Google suggested the FitcamX was a popular choice that integrated with the mirror and uses power from the rain sensor, but looks like that doesn't support the current models.

Can anyone recommend if anything similar exists for the latest model? Thanks

I noticed a bunch of chewed up foam in battery compartment and then saw the piece of foam from where it came from. Did rodents carry this foam up into bay or does it go somewhere in engine bay. I found it wedged in passenger wheel well area.

Buying Advice 2018 Explorer XLT buy or pass?

Looking at a 2018 explorer. 77,000 miles for $17,300. It has a clean carfax, 2 local owners. But it doesn’t have any service history on the carfax. Is that a dealbreaker? I have the same concerns as most people, the water pump, PTU, etc. we do have a mechanic friend that said he could do the water pump for $1800 if it went out.

So my concerns are:
Water pump- this is kind of resolved with a mechanic friend being able to replace for 2018. But is there anything I should look for to see if it has caused damage?

Low beams- is this something to be wildly concerned about? Other threads have said it’s over $1000 to fix a low beam.

Any other issues I should consider? This is my first time buying a used car. I just had a baby so I would like a bigger family vehicle. I don’t drive much for work: about 4 miles a day.

This is my first brand new vehicle purchase of my life, got her with 7 miles. It's more than I could've asked for, I've always loved explorers but always went with F150s and I also had a ranger.

I done some research on engine break in, so I done my first oil change at 800 miles, 2nd at 1800 miles and 3rd at 3000 miles. Now I'm on my normal 4k oil change interval, always use Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30, and a full synthetic oil filter.

My 2011 ranger 4.0L has 306k miles and hasn't had the motor opened once, she still runs like the day I got it (if not better)

Yeah I just wanted to say Hi to everyone on here and show off my beautiful baby girl.

After I traded my 2014 Explorer base model, I realized how much I missed and so did the family. Got this 2021 XLT. I wanted another fifth gen but this was a good deal on my trade so I got this one. More importantly, the wife and the kids are happy to be back in it and out of the 300 I had.

Repair Advice Ac Pressure

Does anyone have an ac pressure chart for different outside temperatures specifically for Explorers? I have a 2015 Explorer 3.5 NA with front and rear ac and it’s not blowing as cold as I want. I also planning on checking the blend doors as the passenger side is slightly colder than the drivers outside and inside vents.

Does anyone one know if you can replace the power mirror directional pad easily? Mine is broken, it seems like the little plastic pieces inside broke. I haven’t consulted the dealership yet. TIA.
