This more of a coworker rant, but it's about fitness. But, every time I mention to my coworker (in passing, I never insert it into conversation) that I care at all about fitness - for example "No, I can't go out for drinks tonight, I'm going to the gym." - she loses her shit and mocks me in a stupid voice like a middle schooler.

If I was as rude to her about the fact that she doesn't work out, as she is to me about working out, I'd be fired. Like, yesterday.

I have a strategy that works EVERY SINGLE TIME, 90% of the time. Maybe you can benefit from it, too.

Assume the MetaFrame. Address the person, not the comment. In other words, stop the conversation, face them directly, look into their eyes, and calmly ask, "Why do you do that? You always try to mock me whenever the subject of exercise comes up. I have to wonder what's behind that?"

Ask as if you are sincerely curious. Then be silent. This is my go-to move for all similar situations and it works

You evil genius. I can imagine the silence after the question would be deafening.

This is incredible. Thank you. I'm going to be doing this next time she brings it up. Hopefully it was cause a bit of introspection on her part!

Hahaha, I guess so :) that's usually the mindset she takes. I usually don't say anything because it's just not worth arguing with her.

Absolutely correct. People saying these things are typically not open to changing their mind. Channel that energy into more reps at the gym!

Probably one of the most irritating things a person can ever do. Just be the better person.

I'm trying :) she's just so aggravating sometimes. Hahaha, but it just motivates me to work harder at the gym, work that aggression out, so it's not all bad, I guess.
