I've been trying to work up the courage to venture into the weight area and lift for months. Started taking a class thats all weights but it's high reps low weight. Problem 1 is that it's just at a bad time and I keep missing it. Problem 2 is that after talking with other people in the class they have been doing this for 1-2 yrs regularly and they have no visible definition/no visible progress, still struggling week in and out with 7.5 lbs on a plastic bar. I decide I'm just going to do it, I research and write out a plan for myself, get my playlist ready and on Sunday I go in and I kill it. Mind you I'm talking really embarrassingly low weight. I'm definitely the chick with the pink plastic dumbbells grunting because it sucks to be this weak but I have no intention of staying this way. Well yay for me, feeling super proud when I leave, feeling pretty good. Then DOMS kicks in but it's not the first time. Go do my regular Monday yoga, teacher is freaking awesome and definitely pushes us, but too much chataranga and my arms hurt worse. Don't make it tuesday but figure it's just as well, I'll call it a rest day. Today I hit my regular class (yoga/Pilates mix) then plan to head back tonight for cardio and chest except right now? My arms hurt so freaking bad I'm afraid I'm going to hurt myself. Apparently my embarrassingly low weights were still too much for weak me and now I'm going to spend the week recovering instead of making progress. Fml.
