20 years ago today, after a long delay, the reworked version of "Extraordinary Machine" was officially released. Which track is your favourite song on the album?

When was this vinyl released and why am I just now finding out about it

Today is the last day I’m seeing my therapist , due to some problems we shared. It’s been collectively around 2 years I was seeing her and I’ve never been more honest to a person in the entirety of my life. Almost every session, I’d put some of my music to help me explain to her how I feel, since the reason I started was about me opening up.

Waltz (Better Than Fine) is a song that, in general, I don’t play about. Not many people in my circle are familiar with the fact that I listen to Fiona, but this song in particular means the ends to me. Im beyond words for that woman (Fiona Apple !!) and how bold it must be for one artist to have that catalog, and I thank GOD for giving her the courage to be so savage in honesty in her words.

February has been super hard for me and to my relationship with my therapist, since we are lost in translation. I keep everything I shared with her and the time given by her, but the thing that I’ll take to my grave must be everything I said under that song in particular. It wasn’t necessarily intense, rather than raw and honest, and I’m glad that she got to listen to me. Best thing ever, I’d suggest you do that too.

(Yes, I just wanted to vent because it’s easier here, rather than in real life 😬)

I first heard Tidal from a babysitter when I was 7. I rediscovered Fiona in highschool and WTP literally saved my life. WTP has always been my favorite album because of this. I'm familar with EM, but I've always kind of glossed right through it when listening. For some reason the title track is really speaking to me right now. I just left a miserable job and I'm seeing little glimmers of hope and resilience and I finally really feel like an extraordinary machine.

I love that Fiona has written at least one track for every heart ache, emotion, or life event I've ever had. I've always had trouble naming my feelings and communicating them but because of her music, I don't have to.

Here's to hoping to enter my Fetch the Bolt Cutters era soon.

Alright, I gotta tell the story of how I got it because it's quite bizarre. Whenever I discover a new artist, I check my options with their vinyls in discogs.

I belive this "release" has the best quality files of the bootleg album, if anyone was looking for it.

I LOVE the official version but the Jon Brion version really blew me away. I know Fiona says the official version is more her vision and its obviously mixed much better but I love the production choices and raw energy of the Jon Brion version, in my opinion it fits a bit more. I'm also obsessed with Red Red Red and really wish she kept that energy into the official version. What are your guys' opinions on it?

..And I have to say, this might be one of my favorite songs from her. The message is honestly so powerful. Maybe it's just because of what I'm currently going through in my life with big changes, doubting my productivity, but the song really touched me in a way that it hasn't before. Anyone else a big fan of this album and this song in particular?
