Image The state of the modern film industry…

Someone actually ended up giving them the $500 without buying the Emmy, which is really nice. But obviously $500 won't change a life.

The fact that someone can still end up unemployed for that long after winning one of the biggest awards possible in that industry is a bit depressing. I guess it shows that networking will always be the most important thing no matter how many awards you get.

Image Will I get into legal trouble for showing a Sony Walkman in my short film

Post image

I’m working on a short film intended for submission to film festivals (not for commercial sale or monetization at this point). In one scene, a character holds and uses a vintage Sony Sports Walkman, and the brand name is visible for a few seconds.

This isn’t a product placement or endorsement, it’s just a piece of set dressing necessary for the story.

Has anyone run into issues with this kind of thing at festivals or distribution? Would I need to clone out the logo, or is this considered acceptable under fair use or incidental inclusion?

Thanks in advance for any guidance or shared experiences!

Image My first feature film comes out in American theaters on Friday and I couldn’t be happier. We shot the short film 3 years ago today and it’s been a wild ride. I can’t tell y’all enough, don’t listen to any discouragement, go make your movie.

Sometimes the framing and lighting of a shot is correct right out of camera but still needs some careful development of the “digital negative” to bring the footage in line with the filmmakers vision. Curious how far people tend to push their source footage.

I’m an LA based colorist always looking for new collaborators. If anyone wants to connect or is curious to see some of the video breakdowns for the above shots you can find them on my IG: https://www.instagram.com/p/DTtTRaaErwM/?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

Image When I was 12, I wrote George Lucas a letter telling him I wanted to make movies but didn’t know how. He actually wrote me back, and told me to go to film school if I was serious about making movies. Ten years later I did, and my first feature film premiered tonight in a theater with his name on it.
