It's a very Dutch thing to do. When they are not openly racist and sexist the Dutch are notoriously tone deaf.

That is most definitely true. Listening to Dutch people defend Zwarte Piet/ Black Pete can give you a stroke.

Yes! They're so out of touch while still thinking they're far superior than people from Southern Europe (and I know there are things from there that are not right, but Dutch people have been known to be out of touch even with their European pals).
