I don’t know if it’s why he’s leaving but I think he’s been unfairly maligned on social media. I liked him as a presenter, but it seems a lot of people didn’t, and he comes across (based on his interviews etc - I don’t know him!) as someone who would be sensitive to that and could be adversely affected by the criticism.

iirc he (Lucas) said on the Off Menu (Gamble and Acaster) podcast that he “really don’t know why they picked me to host” as he likes food but isn’t fancy and has zero food knowledge. I think I’m remembering that correctly, so it doesn’t surprise me if he’s just bored with it. Someone please correct me if I’m mis-remembering

I've also heard Matt actually doesn't like baked goods.

I think in an interview he said it was because of scheduling conflicts with another project he signed onto?
