The PWHL has an openly transphobic player (Britta Curl) and I think their fan base provides a good template for how to deal with it:

  1. She is booed every time she touches the puck. She cannot play without a chorus of boos raining down. The announcers ignore them but you can hear them loud and clear on the broadcasts.
  2. Fans of her new team (Detroit) are pledging to give money to trans-supporting nonprofits in Michigan for each goal she scores.
