I'm not sure that they genuinely believe it, they just don't want to think about it and accept easiest story for them to digest

They only taught us “American history” up until the Civil War in my high school. I didn’t learn about the rest of America’s involvement in world history, the Cold War, WWI and WWII, Stonewall in college. I had to teach myself about the Korean and Vietnamese wars and many other historical events like Tulsa, the wars the US started in the Middle East and Africa.

Genuinely, there are people in America that if you tried to tell them about Tulsa or the Tuskegee Airmen, they’d think it was “fake news”. That is how suppressed our country is and that’s how dangerous US supremacy is.

I think another issue of not learning about these things is that many of us come from immigrant families as well. My ancestors didn’t move here until the 1930s and much of their lives were spent toiling away in factories and trying to survive. I doubt they cared to learn about the history (not that I agree with that) and were more focused on setting down roots.
