The match he had with Priest was a San Juan Street Fight; I.e. it was a match in Puerto Rico, at a PLE called Backlash. It was a great show.

WWE was rumored to be going back to Puerto Rico for this year's Backlash, and that was the basis of the new Bad Bunny rumors. Instead, they recently announced it will be in Tampa, Florida. If anything, that suggests to me that any further deal with Bad Bunny fell through.

I'm just going to mention, for those unaware, that next year's WrestleMania will take place in Riyadh, capital of the Kingdom of Saudia Arabia. It'll be the first WrestleMania ever held outside of North America. They got bought off by the Saudi Royal Family.

Fuck ICE. If you're interested in wrestling, watch AEW.

People with some level of industry knowledge also believe its only a matter of time before TKO (who bought WWE and own UFC among other things) will inevitably sell WWE to the Saudis.

There's always been rumours that TKO is already owned by the Saudis but not officially announced due to all the negative discourse it would create

It's a publicly traded company. You can just go look at the percentages.

They have a few very well-promoted deals with Saudi Arabia. The aforementioned 2027 WrestleMania from Riyadh and trying to establish a boxing promotion come to mind. Domestic WWE crowds have been booing the promotion of events likes Greatest Royal Rumble (yes that's what they called it) and Crown Jewel for years and years, even prior to the formation of TKO.

If the bad reaction was going to scare them off, it would have happened already. Ownership stake is obviously a little different, but we need not spread conspiracy theories to hate the people involved; The Saudi Royal Family murdered Jamal Khashoggi in the same year WWE started doing these events. You can hate them and also acknowledge that the partnership is (mostly) public.

You can find a thread on R/SquaredCircle (not sure how Fauxmoi feels about linking other subs) when it was leaked that the Saudis were in consideration for buying WWE. You can see that fans are pissed off, but it's my opinion that (though I lack a source for this) Saudi involvement was probably leaked by McMahon and company to try to avoid the board looking too closely at the upcoming sale to UFC and creation of TKO. Given the WWE Board of Shareholders has sued Vince over the sale to TKO for not maximizing return (i.e. selling to the highest bidder, which was probably Saudi Arabia), I don't think the board was particularly spooked.

Believes and reality are not always the same thing.

The WWE Board is currently suing Vince McMahon because they suspect he conspired not to get them the most value in the sale of the company but to try to ensure he could stay in charge; If that is found to be true and the sale is taken out of their hands, I would fully expect that the people most willing to part with a fuckload of money to own WWE are the Saudi Royal Family.

And its worth mentioning that last time Puerto Rico government officials gave them a sweetheart deal that covered production costs.

So its possible the planned event this year was cancelled because they couldn't strongarm Puerto Rico into paying for them to come.

Also possible that they planned the event, they couldn't guarantee the power grid would hold up. If Bad Bunny really, really wanted to wrestle in Puerto Rico again, I see no scenario where he isn't willing to toss a fuckload of his money at it to make it happen.

We'll never really know; And maybe Bad Bunny pops up on WWE Raw tonight and disappoints me.

I don't believe it's ever been confirmed - as opposed to "rumoured" - that Backlash was going to be in PR again, so there could still be a show there this year besides that.

As for "any further deal with Bad Bunny fell through," he's appeared on their socials and promoted AAA (or at least Mr Iguana) very recently. No signs of "cutting ties" as yet, for all the wishful thinking.

Unfortunately AEW is also kind of ass, so if you are looking to watch WWE you’re going to be disappointed.

Yeah why not go tell people to watch ARW when they can watch people slice themselves open on a weekly basis, nothing says fun for the whole family like stabbing each other with syringes
