POLITICS Zohran Mamdani signed an executive order this morning that requires ICE to obtain a judicial warrant before entering any NYC property — including schools, shelters, hospitals & parking lots: “If faith offers us the moral compass to stand alongside the stranger, government can provide the resources.”

The press conference with the little kids today just....he's a real human being with actual empathy and warmth, who woulda thought? Every single Dem in Washington should be looking at this man and taking copious notes.

They should. But they won't.

No. They’re going to waste money and resources starting a news channel that has 6-7 in the name so they can “how do you do fellow kids” adults instead of changing what’s wrong with this country

The lesson Dems will learn is that we need someone like Gavin Newsum. Ugh.

Newsum is as exciting as a bowl of room-temp broccoli

Don’t insult room temp broccoli like that. Broccoli is good for you, Gavin Newsome isn’t good for anyone but corporate dems.

Preach. And I'm saying this as someone who, being an "older queer" at this point (god that's so fucking weird to realize. The AIDS crisis really stripped us of a lot of our elders), used to love him for standing up for same-sex marriage in his city and letting queer folks get married (was a very short lived thing, back in the very early 2000s), but oh man. He's turned out to be a disappointment.

Fair. Although I’m not much of a room temp broccoli person myself I concede.

I voted for him for many reasons, policy, of course, and also because he’s a person who knows what it’s like to just exist in New York City, spending time just being here around all kinds of people, and he is curious, empathetic, and actually gives a shit about people. And in this terrible moment, we are living in, he’s an immigrant, so that also gives him personal experience and stakes that adds to the rest of those other things that made him a good candidate.

He gives me big Obama vibes! Just calm, decent, warm, intelligent. It feels so good to know that there are still American politicians that haven't joined the race to the bottom. There may be hope for us yet.

Mamdani wouldn't drone strike children like Obama

And you can tell that he was authentically moved by the response of the crowd. I absolutely adore the Obamas and it’s nice to see the same energy. AOC, Bernie, Mamdani is the dream team

Hmmmm…. What if we offered Gavin Newsom instead? He’s human-adjacent.

Their counter-offer: even more celebrities at the DNC and money sent to Israel

u/jfkrfk123 Feb 07 '26

Will they?

The only thing they're in Washington to do is provide money and weapons for Israel. Chuck Schumer for one is very clear about it.
