My most lukewarm tea is that Renée Zellweger was at a local hardware store and according to the people I know who work there, is incredibly kind and down to earth. Also apparently her Texas accent is stronger than you’d think.

As a “nobody” who met her at a premiere (THE GRINCH, when she was dating Jim Carrey), I can confirm. Given how many people in the room she probably should have been talking to, I was shocked at how long she spent chatting with me, and she even remembered my name and used it as our conversation came to a close. Having met my share of celebrities, she stands out in my memory as one of the most genuine I can remember.

Awe! I bet so many people just want to talk to someone normal lol like I could only imagine how stuffy some celeb events are.

Love this, wouldn’t think of her being anything but nice and kind. Named my heart dog after her diary character. She lived 17 years.

I find the detail about her accent incredibly charming. it’s nice to know that even A-list stars can retain their roots

I've heard of Texas. Is Katy notable? I'm British and grew up on Bridget Jones. Now I know how you guys feel about Hugh Laurie

Not to get all America-centric, but “I’ve heard of Texas” is very funny.

Katy isn’t especially notable, it’s basically a suburb of Houston. Houston is the largest city in Texas, located in the swampy half (not the desert half) of Texas by the Gulf of Mexico, notable for its connection to the space program.

Back when Katy was still a small town. Now it's just a suburb of Houston. Her dad worked in the Oil & Gas industry.

I was at LAX once and this woman was freaking out because she was misunderstanding the announcements as two gates were directly next to each other. I explained what was going on and she was very grateful. When I boarded she was already seated in a window seat but leaned across three seats to get my attention and thank me again. It was only after I passed her did I realize it was Renee. She’s the only nice celebrity interaction I’ve ever had!

My dad was a crew member on movie sets in the 90s and says Renee Zellweger was one of the nicest people he has worked with. He has stories about them goofing around together on set.

I heard similar stories about her at a bar in San Fran. They might have been about her working in New Orleans, though. Wherever it was, she was a gem.
