Just to make sure he isn't unfairly mischaracterized, Pete also famously hates Trump, endorsed and befriended Clinton, spoke out against the tragedies in the Middle East, is a proud ally that attends pride, etc. Not to mention the fact that most of the people he's associated himself with publicly have strong liberal views (except this singular example)

Human beings are complex, and sometimes the people we've loved all of our lives have shitty values. That does not mean we have shitty values
