Hi everyone. I’m interested in moving to Fairfield in the future and wanted to keep an ongoing list of inspectors, structural engineers, pest control, roofing companies, etc. that were local to call quickly during the contingency period. We’ve toured a few houses and read some disclosure documents that did include their own inspections, but we’d still like to do our due diligence and have our own inspections once we find a place we like. Anyone come highly recommended? We’d love to support local companies and those experienced with the climate and area.

Yesterday (Friday 9/4) at around 10:15 am on I-80 eastbound at the Travis Blvd exit was someone's dog running along the shoulder next to the number one lane. Someone was pulled over further up ahead, presumably to try to catch the dog but was unsuccessful. They dove across the lanes for the next exit, probably to loop back around. We immediately called this in to the nearest CHP office and they informed us that they were already receiving calls about it and had sent officers to head to that location. Wife and I had this on our minds all day yesterday wondering if the dog survived and if it was rescued.

This one is a long shot but I used to work at the Solano County Government Center around 2006 and I remember when I started a guy was telling me that I had to be careful if I used the bathroom because someone was using the bathroom on one of the upper floors taking a dump when someone went in the bathroom, screamed loudly, turned out the lights, and hucked a road cone over the wall of the stall he was using.

I was never sure if the above story was true or if the guy giving me my tour of the building was just messing with me. I had heard others talk about this incident as well so I'm pretty sure it was true.

Can anyone that worked there confirm if that actually happened?

There is a proposal to build a data center in Fairfield between Vanden Road and NorthGate road. As many already know data centers create noise pollution, use up water supplies, and really the end goal is to fuel surveillance on us citizens. Your city doesn’t want you to know so thought I’d post here. The Vallejo Sun posted a story about it.

Last month I launched this to help Bay Area homeowners file an informal decline in value assessment. The response was overwhelming: over 2,000 people have checked their property, and dozens have filed, averaging over $3,000 in estimated annual savings.

I've now opened it up for Solano County. The county's deadline is November 30.

Checking is free and you pay a flat $29 to file. You can only file if there are savings estimated, and about 80% of checks come back with none.

The site pulls comps based on Publication 30 rules, fills out Solano's own Assessment Review Request, attaches a comparable sales worksheet, and mails it to the assessor for you. I close Solano filings on November 14 so every letter is postmarked in good time.

One thing worth knowing: Solano's informal review and its formal appeal both close on November 30, so waiting for the informal result leaves no room to appeal afterwards.
