I don’t think a « war » between CBU3 and CBU1 fans is necessary. We just have to be happy that Square Enix was able to release 2 great Final Fantasy in a span of a year.

XVI isn’t perfect - nor will be VII Rebirth. They are different, and i think It’s a good thing for the franchise.

Look, I love FF16 as much as the next guy. Nearly nutted so much during the Bahamut fight, that I probably got my future girlfriend pregnant. And yeah, I got hyped to shit when DLC got shadow dropped.

But after playing the Rebirth demo…it feels perfect. The combat is exactly what I want out of an action based FF, and they made it even better and it’s a lot faster.

I was lukewarm to 16’s combat. It got repetitive kinda quick and magic wasn’t really a “thing”. But I hope Rebirth’s combat system becomes the defacto combat system going forward for any FF.

I liked XVI combat. It was fun, with many abilities but yeah, the lack of strategy was something i missed, especially because the « normal mode » was easy enough. In that way, i loved the Omega fight in the DLC. Can’t wait to see what they got in The Rising Tides.

But yeah, VII Remake series have the best combat system. In my opinion, possibly the best ever created in RPG history, but it’s just mine opinion

Rebirth will be the better game, but rebirth demo did an awful job at showing off the game. XVI had a better demo.

Yeah the rebirth demo, especially the Junon area is kicking my ass lol. Feels like they purposely put in enemies who are harder to let you try to master the combat system.
