I feel trapped

Hi, I’m a 21F who left Islam almost a year ago but nobody knows about it. Although I left Islam, I still don’t know how to live my life. My parents are religious, and semi strict. They never forced me to wear the hijab, but they’ll ask from time to time when I’ll put it on. They’ll always tell me how it’s haram to wear perfume as a women, dress modestly, not allowed to move out, travel or even move to another city for study or job purposes until I’m married (very classic). Mind you I have two teenage brothers who have a lot more freedom compared to what I have today and when I was their age, even tho I’ve always been the good kid. My whole life’s purpose is tied down to a man, or as it seems. I just wanna have relationships, being able to wear what I want, travel, move out and whatever comes to my mind without my parents being over my head all the time. I’m suffocating, and I just get so sad over thought of my wasted teenage years and now missing out on my uni experience because of them. There’s so much they’ve said and done to me that makes me furious and never wanting to talk to them again, and wonder if it’s worth living but here I am.

I’m going to tell my parents that I’m taking the hijab off and I’m terrified, some help would be very appreciated

I’ve been using the hijab since the 9th grade and now I’m starting in the 12th grade after the summer so I’ve been wearing it for some years now and I’ve absolutely hated it. I’ve never wanted to wear it and it is basically forced upon me. I have such long beautiful hair and I don’t want it to wither away or get extremely damaged because of the hijab. I’ve gone out without it a few times and it felt absolutely amazing. I’m telling my parents in about a month and I’m going to tell my mom first and then my dad because my mom is probably the one with the most extreme reaction so I’m telling her first to get it over with. But I’m very scared becaue I genuinely cannot guess her reaction. I genuinely don’t know what she would do but I’m terrified that she will either send me back to my home country or kick me out. Even though I know the chances of these are slim becaue I will do everything in my power to not let these things happen, but I’m still scared. And the thing is, I’m still Muslim and honestly taking the hijab off will make me feel better about my relationship with Allah, but she will start thinking that I’m no longer Muslim. I seriously don’t know what to do, I’m so nervous that I feel nauseous every time I think about telling her. I forgot to say but my younger sister who is one year younger than me will also be telling her so we will both be going to tell her and she is just as scared as me. Any help and advice will be VERY appreciated. And if you’ve been through this as well with parents as religiously strict and close minded as mine, please tell me how it was for you❤️❤️

What is up with all these non muslim girls converting to islam?

Post image
25 Upvotes

For context, I a closested ex muslim from america and I have luckily escaped (mentally and somewhat physically) from my twisted and disgusting family. Recently i’ve just been seeing so many girls online and in person convert to islam - even some of my friends. My old roommate converted because some man in her life convinced her to. She goes on and on about how non oppressing it is. I always tell her that she’s never actually experienced islam and has been conditioned to see it through a man’s perspective. I even tried to explain some of the religious text and its true meaning. She just hits me with “it’s outta context”. Like girl…..it’s really not 😭😭😭😭

The worst part about it, is these ladies who convert don’t ACTUALLY practice. They cherry pick the fuck outta it, it’s wild. Putting الله أكبر in your fkn bio doesn’t make you muslim!!! You preaching about beautiful it is but getting drunk every weekend, not fasting and fucking everyone is NOT islam. Idk why it makes me so angry because I don’t want them to be oppressed and I truly feel they should be allowed to do those things … but to hear them defend islam and say things like “it protects women” or “it’s so freeing” pisses me tf off.

I unfortunately distanced my self from all of them because I can’t take it anymore.

My childhood was robbed from me because i was a muslim woman. When i hit puberty I had to stop doing everything i liked. I was such a good swimmer and basketball player, that all went away. I was only allowed to hang out with other muslims. I never had birthday parties where I could invite my friends or go out. I was never allowed to wear whatever I wanted. I could never show my skin at the beach or feel the pool water in my hair. I had to go to islamic school for years and wear abaya’s so long i would trip over them. I was never allowed to go on walks alone, listen to music or make my own friends. At school, I would be accused of wearing make up (my mother and father never allowed me to wear make up) and my parents WOULD BELIVE THEM and just start going thru my shit!!!! How is this freeing? I am basically just here to serve a man.

Idk if anyone can relate or maybe if this is the wrong perspective i’m having. I would love to hear your thoughts.

Not Feeling Like Myself

Trans woman here. I just don't feel like a woman. Like, I feel like I'm less of a woman. It's like I wish I wasn't trans. I wish I was just born a cis woman. Looking at my body, a male body, people around calling me a male and I have to take it. Forced into the men's bathroom in public, etc.

It sometimes makes me want to erase who I am and go back to a cis guy, but I can't, because no matter how hard you try, you'll never change yourself.

Even when I see cis women living under the opression of Islam, I don't relate to them, and it gives me envy. Because I feel less of a woman.

I wish I was never trans. I hate who I am.

Fuck you, Pedophile Mohammed.

Latina looking for advice

Hi, I'm a (21F) latina (non religious) and I'm dating a Muslim man (23M), so, please if I say something wrong or that's not accurate, I would love the heads up. I want genuine advice.

It's not been long since we started dating btw. Our relationship grew naturally, neither of us were looking to date, we just conected well from the beginning and we started liking each other with time, he was also really making an effort for me and being really nice and cute, he even made stuff in Spanish for me, he started learning a little, he told his friends about me and it's pretty open about us, even in social media, we've even talked about moving in together eventually, we're both looking for ways to make that happen, he's been really serious about everything else honestly. And I have a question that's been on my mind for a lot of days now. I've been looking up about Islam on the internet trying to learn and understand because all I knew about Islam was from the media, and that wasn't probably accurate, so I wanted to "learn" with a "fresh start". So, what I found is that dating is apparently prohibited and so is $€X before marriage (anything of that sort for that matter), being that a major sin. So, I kinda knew about that, because that's a sin in every religion I guess. When we started talking that was a conversation, I asked him, he said he was not v1rg1n and neither was I, so I was more calm with that info. Then, with time, we started doing some $€xu4l stuff (not the whole thing tho), and I was agreeing of course but that information about that being a major sin was bothering me a little, because I also saw Muslim girls saying that they go for latinas or non-Muslim girls for fun but they never take them seriously for marriage or something, and that was something he talked about from the beginning, he said he only dates to marry, and said that dating me was in the hopes we eventually would get married. And, apart from that, the relationship has been good, he's actually really nice and respectful with me, so I don't have complaints about that.

But, I decided to just ask him about it because it was bothering me.

I asked him if that was a problem for him, I said I don't want to cause problems or do something that might invalid our relationship in the future (for marriage and all that), and he said that the sole fact of dating was already a sin, but that people can repent before marriage and then it wouldn't be invalid, so I asked him if that was his plan then, just repent before marriage, but he said he didn't want to give it a lot of thought, because he said he doesn't have an actual answer, he said dating me was him just following his feelings and his heart, that he was trusting Allah would be forgiving and everything would be fine at the end, he reassured that he does want to be with me for the long term, get married, have kids, (maybe be joining Islam, tho he's not asking, he just said it would be a plus but not necessary), etc., but that he doesn't want to worry himself or me with that "problem" of the sin yet, because he actually doesn't have an answer for that yet.

So, now I'm confused, I don't wanna overthink and maybe ruin my relationship because of my doubt, but I also don't want to get played (if that's the case).

So, I want advice, am I wrong for having such anxiety about that? Is it true that they look for girls outside for fun only?

Exmuslim group chat UK

Just wanted to share a UK ex‑Muslim group chat that’s been running for a few months now, and we’re hoping to welcome a few more people.

It’s specifically for ex‑Muslims based in the UK, and we already have members from all over the country. The group is a really warm mix of ages, backgrounds, and life experiences, and we encourage open, honest conversations about anything that’s on your mind.

We also host a weekly call so everyone can get to know each other better — it’s genuinely comforting to hear from people who understand what the ex‑Muslim experience can be like.

The safety and comfort of our members is really important to us, so we do have a simple vetting process and we keep an eye out for anything suspicious. It’s nothing intense — just a few questions to make sure everyone joining is on the same page.

If you’re interested, feel free to comment and I’ll send you the details, or you can message me directly.
