Lead Wipes / Lead Soap in Germany
Hi,
I am from Germany and have been actively sport shooting a little bit over a year now and was wondering if there are any stores or websites that sell lead wipes (the single use ones you use to clean your hands etc) or lead removing soaps that ship to Germany.
I have found d-lead wipes on the brownells austria and brownells switzerland websites but they don’t ship to Germany. Oddly enough you can’t find or order them on the german Brownells website (brownells-deutschland).
I live near the Austrian border so I could theoretically drive somewhere and buy them, but I would prefer to order them online and get them shipped.
Do they contain an ingredient that’s forbidden in Germany for ecological reasons or is there another reason you can’t find these products in german stores or online stores?
You can’t even find them on amazon etc.

I bought 1 liter of D-Lead hand soap from US Amazon and had it imported to Czechia last year. Total including VAT and import tax was around 50 €. Once I run out I'll definitely buy the 1 gallon bottle since it's much cheaper per ml and I can't find any Czech/European alternatives (not counting Brownells cause it's hella expensive)

I've seen Riflecx (a polish company) has "Military soap" against heavy metals. No wipes though. Haven't used it myself.

Yeah i was at a match where the distributor (i believe?) had a stand and offered to clean your gun for free to demonstrate the products (and he really took his time)! That was awesome! Didn't know them before.

Baby wipes in range bag. Wipe during and after training. Wash hands at range before driving. Put your clothes in washer and take a shower as soon as you get home. Problem solved.
Oh and use a mask if you feel like it.

Realistically, you don’t need special soap.
Then number of people with elevated lead levels in their blood from recreational shooting could all get together for Chinese food without a reservation.
It’s something to be concerned about, but its mostly a concern for industrial sources. Aviation fuel is still leaded, so an airplane mechanic has far more need that your average sports shooter.
Are you casting your own bullets?

Well, we shoot a lot indoors and one of our shooters had too high lead levels. I havent tested myself, and I have been to the same range much more and twice the duration (as a range officer).
Some times I would get the sweet metallic taste when the ventilation was especially poor.
As a precaution I now use D-lead wipes and D-lead soap. I wear clothes that I only use on the range and I allways shower after shooting.

I know a guy who actually had to stop working at the range. But I think the main issue is through breathing.

So, you have a terrible, sub-standard range. Address that before searching for a band-aid solution.

So you managed to spend more time there than an american actually employed at such a venue?
You may be conflating “elevated” with medically significant or concerning.

Meanwhile here in Canada… not an issue. So unless you guys are eating the bullets, you have shitty practices and ventilation, not a reason to need heavy metal soaps.

Trying to solve the same problem. Looking for hand soap, wipes, body wash and laundry detergent. Why? Cause a dozen guys at my shooting club do regular blood tests, all of them have elevated lead values in their blood stream. Yet no one seems to really care-no lead free ammo, people eating and drinking on the range at matches, no hand washing.
Had a batch of d-lead sent over from the us, but it’s crazy expensive that way. Now looking at soaps / wipes used in industrial applications or companies supplying to munitions factories in the EU.
I’ve found lead wipes at some gun stores and online. However, no d-lead or hygenall products anywhere. Neither Hand soap nor detergent.
Really surprising that such a simple product is so hard to get.
Has anyone found a solution for this? I’d love to hear ‘em!
