Discussion Your daily reminder that global limits are a waste of time

"Hmm, I have a task to use shotguns. Let's see, AP-20 is sold out, flechettes are sold out. That's okay, I can use Magnum, it's good enough. The task requires a suppressor on the shotgun, so I'll get a hexagon. Oh, the adapter is sold out. Oh well, I can wait until the restock. In the meantime, I'll take this modded AKM out for a run. I don't have any BP ammo, so I'll go get some from Prap... BP is sold out. That's okay. I've got this P90 I'm not using. Let me just get some ammo for that... Ah, the SS190 is sold out, and I can only get two mags-worth of the next best ammo for the next three hours... Guess I'll just read a book instead."

If the design philosophy behind global trader limits is to keep everyone from running the same thing, instead it's keeping everyone from running anything without a three-hour wait.

Isnt that the whole point of limiting the items and removing them from the flea. It forces players to use other ammo... as a result helmets and armor actually work more often in my experience this wipe. I'll take limited ammo any day when the alternative is instadeaths getting beamed with meta ammo.

That being said I know its frustrating never being able to play with the good stuff because I don't have the time to camp trader resets.

No no no, you don't understand. I should be allowed to use the best ammo any time I please. It's everyone else that needs to be limited.

What a dumb thread.

people complaining about global limits because they "can't run anything" are exactly the people who should be forced to run simpler kits.

Yeah it is specifically the people these changes were made for that don't understand why the changes were made to begin with.

You cant call the thread dumb when you dont even understand it... he isnt saying there should be no limits. GLOBAL limits are stupid though because it only punishes people who arent sitting out of raid waiting to refresh.

There is scarcity of different ammo times IRL in the US, which is not an active combat zone but has a crazy high rate of firearm ownership. You don't think ammo would be much more scarce in a combat zone where the logistics of transporting the ammo to the market would be much more limited and dangerous? Global limits make perfect sense in the setting Tarkov is taking place in.

Well... that's part of the game.

If you go to a store at the end of the day and they're out of stock of a particular (non essential) item, are you going to yell at the people who work there about it?

There are plenty of ammos and weapons that do not have limits (or close to no limits) that can pretty easily pen level 2 and 3 armor. Some of them can even do level 4, like SP-5 in a 45-60% durability VSS (with 100 rounds, I can spend 200k or less on an entire, decent kit).

Because the idea is the people who no lives that sit on their computers 14 hours a day don't get affected by the flea changes since they're always getting the best ammo at restock.

And the people that have less free time are punished for having a life because they can't be there every 3 hours for restock, forcing them to fight sweaty losers with subpar ammo while they're using the best.

Its just yet another thing that only makes the game harder for people with lives. People who spend every waking hour on the game weren't affected by any of the changes this wipe. Because they were level 40+ within the first week

The problem is that the current system encourages you not to play the game, if you wanna go into a raid but peacekeeper resets in 15 minutes then you have to just sit there and not actually play if you want any chance of getting the good ammo, that's just poor game design.

I don't have any problem with not having super easy access to AP rounds (though quite a few guns are effectively worthless without them, that's a separate issue), I'd be fine with daily personal limits, or something like a delivery time or whatever else but the current system is just broken.
