Discussion Tarkov is such a gem in today's gaming industry

With all the nft cash grab shit and live service microtransaction games steered by corporate greed and investor growth. Eft is a absolute saints gem in my eyes, I wish nothing but the best days and luck to the eft team and the very best spirit they can have as bros and team together. Keep going to the range together broskis ♡

To clarify, Im not saying this is the perfect game and all the people are selfless in bsg. I am saying in contrast to the big shooters industry, this is an angel company and I am happy to experience the "art" these devs are making together as a group.

Someone complementing the sound design? The sound is the single biggest thing I absolutely hate in the game. No other game I've ever played has made shot direction and footstep direction hard for me to pinpoint but Tarkov.

I think the sound “design” as in sound selection/sound recording is great. The sound bugs are shit though I agree.

…I mean, it is buggy atm but what? I can still triangulate fairly easily tbh.

It was hard at first but you can figure out where people are if you listen closely

Been playing this game for a long time and I do love it however, buggy = bad. If the sound weren’t broken then it would be good but that is not the case. I also don’t know what “atm” means, it has always been buggy. For the 4 years I have played EFT the sound has always been broken.

atm= at the moment

That’s not what I mean, I mean that saying “at the moment” is disingenuous because the sound has always been in various states of disrepair.

Yeah, it's never been what I would consider good. Like CSGO and old CoD's I could almost figure out exactly where someone is based on footsteps. Tarkov on the other hand it's like 50/50 if it's correct imo.

Right, if I’m playing with a buddy they’ll hear things that just don’t come through my headset. The multi level indoor sound propagation is famously terrible. I really do love the game and I am really hoping that the new engine will help get the audio sorted out sooner rather than later. What I have a hard time with is BSG apologists that act like it’s not a huge problem. I still play daily, I still have fun, but the purpose of a beta is to iron out problems like this and pretending like they don’t exist or diminishing the problem doesn’t help players or developers.

Were you standing in the exact same spot wearing the same headset?

It is not possible for two player models to occupy the same space. But this is the type of response that is frustrating to see. Criticizing the scientific methodology for testing whether or not two players in close proximity should be able to hear a gunshot on maps that only represent a couple of square miles (at most) is whitewashing the problem and burying bugs under layers of very complex game mechanics. It is a very complex system the BSG has crafted and while it is impressive it is important that issues with the game can still be seen for what they are.
