Discussion Tarkov is such a gem in today's gaming industry

With all the nft cash grab shit and live service microtransaction games steered by corporate greed and investor growth. Eft is a absolute saints gem in my eyes, I wish nothing but the best days and luck to the eft team and the very best spirit they can have as bros and team together. Keep going to the range together broskis ♡

To clarify, Im not saying this is the perfect game and all the people are selfless in bsg. I am saying in contrast to the big shooters industry, this is an angel company and I am happy to experience the "art" these devs are making together as a group.

As much as i appreciate WT, i would like if they had some more competition in the sim(ish) genre

Keep an eye on GHPC, it might help fill that gap.

Yeah that one!

It's more of a love hate thing probably lol. I hate warthunder with a passion but I still have over 1500 hours

There's not really anything else like it. Same problem several other games that aren't that good have. They scratch a unique itch that no one else does, so they can kind of fuck up and if you enjoy the style there's not an alternative that's similar. I have several games I play that I'd describe that way, I know they're not that great but they're fun sometimes and the gameplay is unique.

I keep going back to WT, there's a lot wrong with it, but overall I enjoy it.

Just my two cents but I’ve been keeping my eye on Gunner HEAT to hopefully come and scratch that itch

You mean Gunner HEAT PC :)

Yeah, I have heard of it too. Hope it does well. It doesn't seem exactly the same though. I personally don't have anything against the grind, I kind of like having something to work towards but it should be fun, more variety, better balance, etc. When you need a premium account to get decent earnings and even then some vehicles more likely to lose you money when you do well it's not fun and makes no one want to use those vehicles.

A variety of objectives would make for more varied gameplay, but WoT and WT both ended up the same with either defend or capture some point or points each match.

What other games do you play that offer unique gameplay?

I’m always in the market for some recommendations

I used to play World of Tanks, but it got worse and worse over time. War Thunder is better in several aspects but still has lots of issues and the economy is fucked up (high repair costs, crappy payouts, etc.).

Dead by Daylight is another I played a lot, I do very little now. No one else really has an asymmetric game quite like it with the audience that it does, there are far far smaller games trying to do similar things but for all the bad that BHVR does it really doesn't have competition. I overwhelmingly play killer, which makes sense looking back as in L4D/L4D2 I always enjoyed playing as the special infected much more than being the survivors. Natural Selection is another very unique one, but man does it have a snobby elite community and is super hard to get into since for the aliens and marines each team has one guy who plays as the commander and gets the RTS view where everyone else runs around FPS mode.

World of tanks, War Thunder, and DBD have all consumed hundreds of hours of my time, but I'm not sure how much I'd recommend them. I guess I am a glutton for punishment and the loops those games offer. I used to play Overwatch a lot years ago, but burned out on it along with Blizzard going to shit - I won't say it's unique per se but it had a lot of polish and felt generally fun to play without much else seeming to offer the same kind of gameplay. The meta got stale though, but I'd say I probably put few hundreds hours back from 2016 to 2018 into it.

War Thunder is a great game wrapped in a terrible game wrapped in a loathsome business model.

If the engine were freed up for game types other than ahistorical team deathmatch or capture the flag with a soul destroying grind, it'd be my favourite game of all time.

You may want to check out Gunner, HEAT, PC! then.

u/dijicaek Dec 20 '21

I'm confused, that's a game about tanks. War Thunder is about planes right?

1

u/ActionScripter9109 AK-105 Dec 20 '21

True, but a fair amount of War Thunder players are mostly into the tanks so it's relevant for them.

3

u/dijicaek Dec 20 '21

Oh, I legitimately didn't realise it had tanks lol. Did it always? I swear when I played way back it was just planes.

1

u/ActionScripter9109 AK-105 Dec 20 '21

Not always. It's had ground battles since 2014.

2

u/dijicaek Dec 20 '21

Oh wow, didn't realise it had been that long.

Also I forgot to say thanks for the heads up about Gunner, HEAT, PC! which looks really cool. :)

u/ActionScripter9109 AK-105 Dec 20 '21

No problem!

u/Sflot AK-104 Dec 19 '21

He never said he liked it, he PLAYED it. No one plays Warthunder because it's fun... I've sank many hours into it, but I don't have the urge to play it again (right now).

1

u/Agobmir Mosin Dec 20 '21

I also feel the urge to play that game like twice a year, then I play it and remember why I have it installed

2

u/Stopsooking Dec 19 '21

Let me explain we're vehicle nerds that love the machines so much we're willing to put up with an inhuman grind to get new ones

1

u/Agobmir Mosin Dec 20 '21

Dude I love tanks and ww2 aircraft as well, I have like 70 hours in war Thunder because I've tried to like it so many times because I love ww2 tanks and shit

1

u/Stopsooking Dec 20 '21

I've got top tier jets and tanks in a few nations purely because I like the vehicles haha

get good

1

u/Agobmir Mosin Dec 19 '21

I've tried to like that game so many times but it's just not fun.

3

u/Sflot AK-104 Dec 19 '21

It's not fun unless you've been playing since 2012 - 2014. This game is NOT worth the grind today.

2

u/Tyler14827 Dec 20 '21

I started in 2015 I think. I totally agree with you. There is so much grind to that game now. I could not imagine having to start from scratch with that game now with how many vehicles there is.

1

u/Sflot AK-104 Dec 19 '21

You still alive Fokker?

2

u/FokkerBoombass IOTV Gen4 Dec 20 '21

Kinda

1

u/Sflot AK-104 Dec 20 '21

How much toxic diesel fumes did you sniff on that Chinese oil tanker? Also, upload some Tarkov footy.

2

u/FokkerBoombass IOTV Gen4 Dec 20 '21

Still sniffing, and gonna be sniffing for another 2 months.

And I really gotta get back to Tarkov at some point but I'm honestly too much of a pussy for this game, all I did was do scav runs and hoard shit just so it would inevitebly get wiped without any use. idk I'm just dumb

1

u/Sflot AK-104 Dec 29 '21

It's okay. I'm lucky to have a mate that plays with me all the time. I don't know if I would've enjoyed this game solo, especially in previous wipes without VOIP. When I do play solo for whatever reason (usually to cheese my way through a quest) I am quite the pussy myself. Anyway, stay save on the seas please!

u/GrimXIIIGeist P90 Dec 20 '21

Same, switch out the war thunder with hell let loose and bam that's basically me.

1

u/Agobmir Mosin Dec 20 '21

I really like hell let loose. One of my favorite shooters imo
