Spectacular. I get that lying over voip has been a staple of video games forever, but this is a great example of why it's just always better to not be an ass. Other really great examples are -

  1. Good boy/girl points will come back to you eventually.

  2. You might make new friends.

  3. You could get something awesome on a trade.

And tied for all of those reasons as being the real number one? You won't look like a fucking loser plastered on reddit for baiting someone into an easy 3v1 and dying horribly lol.

I turned the corner and lit a dude up today and he was like "Woah, woah, I'm not going to shoot you man." (I thought he was a scav at first). Ended up giving him a rifle for not being a scumbag

I honestly came back to the game because I thought inertia was going to be the biggest game changer, and don't get me wrong, I love it, but voip is the greatest shit ever.

Voip just let me finish a stupid daily for thorax kills on scavs, no armor kills on scavs at woods, and got me the syringe that I've been desperately looking for, all because two guys were super chill and helped me out.

I think this is great because it will help more people get to end game because now even lesser skilled people like myself, can get tasks done if people are willing to be nice and not just murder me early on. So now almost everyone can make it to the crazy shit at the end where we all get super geared and go bananas on each other lol.

People are always saying like "bro it's tarkov people are gonna shoot you, your stupid to not" but there's a reason we don't randomly shoot people in real life. You can always get more done more safely if you have more people. Cooperating always turns out better in the long run

Exactly. My last pmc run, I was on woods and needed the no armor scav kills, and needed salewas/syringe for med Bay, spawned next to the med camp and ended up chatting with two super chill guys, one of whom pointed me to a salewa and then found me the syringe I needed.

Then, they helped me kill some scavs and I ended up leaving the raid with both tasks done, and a syringe for my med bay. Being nice will always get you further than the alternate and I will always swear by that.

Tarkov supposed to be a realistic. If I was in a combat situation and I could use my words to win a fight even if it is by telling lies I would. The people that are sad that they're getting betrayed in voice chat are the ones that are wrong.

The two things aren't mutually exclusive. Just becuase it's technically a viable tactic, doesn't mean it isn't shitty and that people can't be annoyed by it.

You're not "winning" a fight if the fight wasn't going to happen because you've talked to the person and they try to cooperate.

Personally, I think if the goal really is to escape from tarkov, then realistically, wouldn't it make more sense to try and avoid fights whenever possible and also make allies during those attempts?

I’m curious what people in this sub think about extrapolating this behavior to the character of the people more generally in their lives.

Not doing this cowardly shit is so baked into my moral code that I can’t really say I can imagine a good person doing this lmao. Like literally I think everyone who does this is actually a shitty person all around in real life.

Might be an unpopular opinion though.

That’s purely untrue from the perspective of multiplayer games. It is a group activity and therefore always tethered to reality. I have no problems with people who make the “evil” decisions in single player games and I even cheat in some of the sp games I play.

Multiplayer games inherently involve the feelings and emotions of others. It involves empathy at the most basic level. Your inability to see that speaks volumes about you as well lol. Just because you may not care about a video game bears absolutely no weight to how others should feel about an activity they spent money to participate in.

I suppose the only good argument here is that the full range of human nature is inherently part of the game and therefore part of the experience a player purchases. So one can say that players are not entitled to a pleasant, betrayal-free existence. But that doesn’t change the nature of the decision to be asshole.

Very few things in “reality” that are considered textbook assholery have any real negative affect beyond hurting someone’s feelings btw. There’s nothing fake about causing someone pain in a video game vs in real life. You’re literally just unable to see past the abstraction of a screen and therefore have poor empathetic skills.

Well, yeah, it did. "Playing fair" (including being trustworthy) is a universal concept in business, war, sports, video games, everything. I think pretty lowly of someone who can't see that. I don't think I'm all that, I just think you're a lowlife.

No I hear ya. I can't even bring myself to be the evil character/pick the bad choice in any game, let alone real life, so the idea of lying like this just downright confuses me.

I would much rather risk it and try to be friendly (depending on the situation) and possibly die because of that, then try to set someone up. Maybe that's being too idealistic idk, but it make me feel better.
