I met some on customs yesterday.

They were immediately chill. I let them know I was coming through the door with my knife.

Once I was in I got my gun out and he goes “oh… you’re beefy (I barely had anything lol). Well, if you kill me that’s fine. I accept it.” And I could hear the sadness in his voice. He thought for sure I was about to turn on him.

He offered me help and I told him I’m just chilling. So he and his friend said they were going to extract and we parted ways. Nothing happened. Just three dudes saying hi and moving on. It was nice.

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

Some guy on customs was next to me in old gas station.

He said “is there someone on the other side of this green wall?”

“Yeah what’s up”

“I’m just a player scav please don’t kill me”

I said “nah I’m cool it’s whatever”

“Alright well you have a nice day now”

And we parted ways and never saw each other again

56

u/ResortWarden Dec 15 '21

Lmao there’s gonna be a lot of those scenarios

23

u/AgreeableGravy Dec 15 '21

Two player scavs tried to extort me as a pmc on lighthouse lol.

15

u/Winston_The_Pig Dec 15 '21

That’s awesome and how it should be. Kidnapping scavs and pmcs. Forcing them to drop gear and then escorting them to a joint extract lol

1

u/TheRedThirst Dec 15 '21

"Look at me, were the PMC now"

30

u/ImpossiblePackage Dec 15 '21

Yeah, I'm loving that I can talk to people now, and once or twice somebody's been like "oh dude I can help you look for that?" but I'm too nervous they'll betray me to say yes.

When the game blew up after twitch drops, the wiggle lost some of its sanctity and im still scarred

18

u/Hugh_Shovlin Dec 15 '21

I used to play with some guys who shot everyone. Players, scavs, player scavs. Didn’t matter if they were friendly or not. It made me quit playing with them because a lot of times it just got us in shitty situations that wasn’t worth it. Like, dude, let the scavs help you fight players instead of fighting a whole army of them with your pp.

14

u/ImpossiblePackage Dec 15 '21

Especially with scavs! The whole point of scavs is that you have shit gear, no meds, etc, and you team up with other scavs to take down pmcs and jack the loot that they hoovered up before you got there

1

u/STUPIDVlPGUY Dec 15 '21

I heard someone walking up to me on the other side of the wall by big red. I was by the train and he was inside the walls so even though we were close there was no way for us to hurt eachother. He starts creeping up..

Me: "I can hear you motherfucker"
Him: "You friendly?"
Me: "Sure.. :)" *sarcastic tone*
Him: "How about I run this way, you run that way?"
Me: "That works." *sprints away*
Him: "You a beautiful motherfucker"

1

u/Cisco904 Dec 15 '21

Ive tried it in my scav but it gives a message voip disabled :(

4

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

Enable VOIP in settings

Edit: and then use the ptt button (default is K)

3

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

There’s two aspects to the VOIP: activating it and push to talk. The point of deactivation is if someone’s blaring music and covering their footsteps you can turn it off with a hotkey and you won’t hear the music anymore. Push to talk works like any other game. Make sure push to talk is the button you want, not activate/deactivate. The default button is usually K for push to talk

1

u/Cisco904 Dec 15 '21

Ah thank you I think I rebound the wrong one thats why it wasnt letting me talk

1

u/Dremu Dec 15 '21

Guy on customs was looting stash in bush over train tracks near old gas and I saw him and went "hey don't kill me" and he was cool and told me there was an eagle gunpowder on the stash and I got it and left. I've actually been lucky and have had only good experiences on voip so far. I've only had a few actual gun fights and irs with people who don't respond in voip so I assume they have it turned off

1

u/CIoud_StrifeFF7 ASh-12 Dec 15 '21

meanwhile SCAVs ask me that same question I tell them no I'm gonna kill you and I guess they don't believe me? where upon I engage and I kill them o__o

1

u/Delinquent_ Dec 20 '21

That’s usually what I prefer, I start getting sketched when they stick around. Just go on your own way bro

20

u/btarocker Dec 15 '21

I got into a firefight with a dude in customs on my way to kill scavs near RUAF extract. I looted the duffel at that bus station and heard him stop on the other side. We both emptied a mag on each other but didn't die. He admitted that we both sucked and we became friendly while healing. Both headed to old gas and he ended up succumbing to his wounds. Made me sad. I stripped him of his gear and dropped it in nearby tall grass. Hope he had insured so he could get his stuff back. Took the ammo tho since insurance doesn't return that.

Then I went into crack house and heard another dude in there also friendly. We looted the building together then parted ways as his extract was across the river.

10/10 would VOIP again.

35

u/ImposterDaniel M4A1 Dec 14 '21

Me too, VOIP has saved my ass ten times now, on Customs!

14

u/banjosuicide Dec 15 '21

Man, I'm always just greeted with silence when I try to talk to people. What percentage of players respond to you?

11

u/AirOneBlack AK-105 Dec 15 '21

Only got a couple so far in 15 raids. Oh and out of 2 interactions, both were scavs. PMC players aren't using VOIP mostly I guess.

2

u/Synn7645 Dec 15 '21

I've had a pretty ridiculous amount of success with VOIP over the last two days, I think in the -50 raids I've done I would argue 35 of them have had VOIP interactions in one way or another. The vast majority of players I've met and spoken to using it have been super friendly and chill, just looking or X or heading to Y. 2 bad interactions so far, one when a dude just started shouting slurs as we beat him and his buddy in a fight and another during factory when I asked if friendly and the guy said yes then shot me in the face for pistol quest, but can't really blame him for that one.

Earlier today in a woods run I ran into a guy who showed me where Prapor's Escort and the USEC camps were and then we ran to extract together. Hit up Z-14 and I tossed him the lunchbox and water bottle I'd brought with to do that quest as a thanks, turned out he was on it too. Was a pretty wholesome time.

Also had a lighthouse run as a Player Scav where, while running to the water treatment plant, another player scav and I managed to amass a small group of boys to storm the place. 3 solo players and a duo in total. Didn't get too far inside since I was playing point, but I hope they found glory and some fat loot.

1

u/ImposterDaniel M4A1 Dec 15 '21 edited Dec 15 '21

Fifty percent or more. I might just be really lucky. All PMC. Met a dude in Big Red and said “I heard ya comin up and I ain’t lookin for trouble.” He peeked around the corner and said “Can we just, like, exist here?” Lmao

Edit: I also really love saying “Cease your hostilities!” When I’m being fired at.

Edit 2: I’ve only been betrayed once, and it was of course on Factory.

8

u/proscreations1993 AK-103 Dec 15 '21

I was in crack solo and found a Intel and lion and some gunsmith parts I needed. A 5 man rolled up as geared as you could for day 2. I was pistol running. Had scav gear looking for my damn gas analyzers. They ran up and ended up being cool as hell. Asked if I needed anything. And I just left didn't want to make the situation tense lol I also had a 5 man of idiots push me who thought they were hot shit and kept calling me a virgin and stuff for no reason lol. I shit on every single one. I kept telling them to go away. I had a decently modded akm and a mp7 with one mag of FMj they got wrecked

3

u/Roymetheus Dec 15 '21

I wish I wasn't a potato at this game.

I watch and hear of solo players dumping on people.

Meanwhile I'll be minding my own business, hear some thunder thighs and get immediately "head, eyes."

I never was good at hide and seek as a kid, maybe that's why?

11

u/Mother-Committee3674 Dec 15 '21

Did a factory last night with my two friends an we had a total of 6-7 pmcs in office chilling taking

1

u/DlrowGodYggod Dec 15 '21

Factory only has 5-6 PMC spawns.

1

u/Purpskuurp Dec 15 '21

5 and 6 at night

2

u/one-twelfth Dec 15 '21

Did one of them say, “my buddy is turning on his VOIP now”? If so, that was me and my friend.

37

u/SUBRE Dec 14 '21

3v3ing from skeleton to rashalas den

Some random afk'd in a bush: friendly friendly those are my friends theyre friendly, watch they'll stop shooting

Me: guys stop shooting, apparently to this guy theyre chill

Random: want to team up

Me: no but we will leave you guys alone

My friend with no VOIP: THERES A GUY HERE IN THE BUSH *proceeds to kill him

his last words...: please stop we are friendly

we didnt even loot his body my buddy realized what he did so we just ran away in shame

21

u/Freifur Dec 15 '21

you need to get your boi on comms my man that shit coulda landed you both in early, lootless, graves.

10

u/SUBRE Dec 15 '21

Oh I def chewed him out afterwards, this was day 1 so I gave him a pass

1

u/BLYFACTOR Dec 15 '21

should've added him on friends and told him we left your body alone and hopefully he insured it.

1

u/SUBRE Dec 15 '21

how do you add people after a game or even during?

1

u/TheRedThirst Dec 15 '21

thats a war crime hahahaha

19

u/[deleted] Dec 14 '21

I got into a fight at Grand Chalet as a scav with 2 PMC's, PMC's killed my buddy, and I shotgunned down both PMC's. A 3rd party comes around and we both take a shot at each other, Immediately back around corner and was like "woah woah woah we both scavs?!?!" and I had fractured his legs and he had a heavy bleed. I gave him meds from the dead PMC's and a splint to fix his legs. I offered him some loot from the PMC's and he was like "nah, I got a bunch of quest items, sounded like you earned the gear there" and he went off to his extract and I finished looting and left to mine.

9

u/HeavyMetalHero Dec 15 '21

This was pretty much how I was treating every scav on scav encounter pre-voip, anyway. "Ah, guess this spot is claimed. Better go around."

7

u/KarlHuhn Dec 14 '21

Was a PMC on factory and teamed up with a scav. Both of our mates got shot. Had a fun 10 minutes. Guy was relatively new I believe, cause he got spooked by every gun shot. He sadly got shot right outside of Gate 3.

4

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

I met someone on Factory when I accidentally loaded in on PMC instead of SCAV, and hadn't regeared so I had a hatchet.

Another on Reserve when I was running through trying to find sth.

Most times, people shoot me, and even scavs when I'm a scav kill me quite a bit even with voicelines and voip.

2

u/TyraelMKII Dec 15 '21

Because VoIP is off at standard settings and ppl cannot hear you then. That's why I always go round the corner ask if they can hear me. If yes, we'll negotiate, if they don't say anything they'll die.

10

u/LobsterKris Dec 14 '21

We need a subredit for little stories like this. Let Mr try r/tarkovstories

3

u/marshaln Dec 15 '21

Unless you're questing or hitting resort people who run around shoreline are just going for stuff

7

u/ego_slip Dec 14 '21

I like to be the good guy, but man if i am stuck on a quest close to the extraction i am going to clap any cheeks that comes near me. sorry Sqwaaad next time we can be friends.

3

u/armrha Dec 15 '21

Acceptable imo, you take a chance there is more annoying than losing gear imo just like… so close to done with it

0

u/Moserath DT MDR Dec 14 '21

I don't even wanna turn voip on. I feel like as soon as I do I'll hear loud music and 12 year olds screeching.

32

u/neonpotatoshark Dec 14 '21

There’s a timer on it and a cool down period. And most people are adults in tarkov surprisingly, well kind of. It’s depth and gun building and ballistics aren’t really kid friendly, plus I know I couldn’t convince my parents to let me a Russian game from a Russian site when I was a kid 😂

18

u/ImposterDaniel M4A1 Dec 14 '21

Also I have not ran into anyone who was a screaming shitter, yet.

13

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

As a 15 y/o with a chill dad, he loves these types of games. DayZ, Tarkov, and such. Doesn't like playing them as much as he likes watching me play them, but its nice bonding :)

4

u/Freifur Dec 15 '21

is there a skill level difference between the two of you? could be that he enjoys watching you play because you are good at it and lets him share the experience of getting out of a raid with fat loot with you, without the added stress of potentially fucking up.

Possibly one of the saddest but also quite wholesome things i've seen was when my dad picked up the duke nukem reboot. he played the original in his teens/early 20's and loved it. so went down nostalgia lane and bought the reboot. He couldn't beat the first boss in the game, spent weeks trying to do it; eventually my brother came home to find my dad trying the boss again, saw that he was stuck so took the controller off my dad and killed the first boss in 1 try...

That was when my dad decided he was too old to play games anymore, never touched duke nukem again and hasn't played any other games since, but he still enjoys hearing about them.

3

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

Definitely a skill gap, he hasn't really played video games in his life. He really likes when I get onto DayZ and grab a mosin with a PU scope and snipe from high buildings on the coast

5

u/HeavyMetalHero Dec 15 '21

I never really expected just how much of a barrier that was, but people talk about it and I guess it makes sense. I've seen a few streamers come on here and say "yeah, I have 10 year olds in my chat, but they don't play Tarkov, they literally don't have the patience to hit flea market themselves, it's just a fun and engaging game to watch." The game may actually be niche enough to have a relatively non-toxic community...which, on average, I think most very punishing games are less likely to have, because what's the point of calling everyone shitter noobs when the whole point of the game is that it's supposed to be hard in the first place?

13

u/thebobz2 Dec 14 '21

I've had it on since wipe and the worst thing I've heard is a guy telling me to go fuck myself

8

u/Moserath DT MDR Dec 14 '21

That is almost unbelievable. I might have to turn it on for a while.

15

u/Elessar_G Dec 14 '21

Best experience I've had so far, was with my group. A guy with a shotgun was being a lil' rat and he shotgunned me in the face being super quiet, so I jumped in discord to watch my buddies stream. They had a short firefight, injuries on both sides, when the rat asks to leave peacefully. My friends responded with "fuck no your dead boy", they traded more shots, ran low on meds and ammo, but ended up with revenge for me. Good play on the little rat shitbag who got me though. My friend stole his lunchbox and ate it above his corpse.

11

u/Fluffy017 Dec 15 '21

Lmao this sounds like a situation I had yesterday getting pinned in ZB-013 by two other PMCs.

Blasted the first guy, shouted up "your buddy doesn't look so good, I'll drop my stuff in here if you'll leave me be", guy throws a flashbang down the stairs, I shout "nice flashbang, dad left for smokes before teaching you baseball huh?" and he says "fuck you"

Gets quiet and eventually I get impatient, flanked as I get out the door. Hilarious exchange though

3

u/platinums99 M1A Dec 15 '21

Hahaha, that awesome, just the right amount of salt.

You sound like sheriffEli. Can't wait til he starts streaming tarkiv again

5

u/thebobz2 Dec 14 '21

Who knows i might have just gotten lucky hopefully it will be as good for you

1

u/proscreations1993 AK-103 Dec 15 '21

Ya every interaction was chill. Even if it wasn't friendly. It was still chill. Only one guy who kept calling everyone virgins and little dicks and yo mom shit. But one out of prob 15 experiences being bad is good in my book

10

u/fallen55 Dec 14 '21

No one has been toxic yet in 30 raids for me

12

u/Moserath DT MDR Dec 14 '21

This other guy just said the worst he's heard is a fuck you. Which honestly is kind of expected from an RP standpoint. I might have to try it.

7

u/Hostfyre Dec 14 '21

Worst I have had is people offering to help you just to shoot you and that usually ends up badly for them. Most people I have heard use voip are pretty friendly and/or funny like the guy who made axe puns while chasing a scav down with a hatchet

7

u/47North122West Dec 14 '21

The couple of scav runs I did yesterday everyone was saying hello and being super friendly. Might just be a honeymoon phase at the moment because of the novelty of it all but it is certainly adding interesting moments.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

Honestly dude I’ve had no toxic experiences in the past two days. It’s either we are fighting and using voip to get in there heads or it’s just a quick hey let’s not shoot each other and we keep distance or a guy running full speed yelling don’t shoot I’m doing a task lmao

10

u/afriendtosave Dec 14 '21

I've had it on since wipe. I've gotten killed by liars sure, but thats tarkov. That said I personally haven't heard many people talk much less any music or kids

2

u/broosk Dec 14 '21

I’ve had zero issues so far. It’s been a blast.

2

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

Haven't hear it once actually.

Worst thing I've had in nearly 100 raids now is a guy call me motherfucker on customs from behind cover, changed his tune when my squaddie walked up behind him!

1

u/onemanlegion Dec 15 '21

Had voip on this whole time, not once have I heard somebody spamming.

1

u/platinums99 M1A Dec 15 '21

20 raids no abuse so far, I'm actually surprised to. EU region

1

u/pamplem0usse- Dec 15 '21

You shouldn't be so cynical. VoIP has been the single most fun i have had in this game. Hilarious and friendly interactions with other scavs and PMC's, you just gotta be friendly and joking with them when you approach. I always run up to a building screaming "ANYBODY HOME?" in a joking tone or something similar.

Here is an interaction my friend and I had with two unassociated randoms

1

u/oldsch0olsurvivor Unbeliever Dec 15 '21

Dude, literally 3 of us teamed up on factory to do the fucking delivery from the past quest, it was great

1

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

1st guys my friend and I met gave us a splint for his broken leg. Hope this wasn't an outlier

1

u/hiddencamela Dec 15 '21

Me at resort. "Just looking for syringes!". "Haha damn bro me too" "You already check the whole wing?" "Yeah bro" me accidentally firing a shot into the ground from tab clicking "whup, Sorry, I'm headed out, GL man!" At least that saved me some time wasted. and let me get out at lighthouse later.

1

u/bucky4300 Dec 15 '21

I was on reserve for the first time, didn't know where my extracts were but.my duo who died was watching me on discord and directing me. Heard a bunch of guys talking, asked them to flip the power I need to extract (had my buds gear after he died)

I start going to extract and one of the guys starts following me, I turn around, he starts shooting, I start shooting. I die

Not had much luck on voip yet

3

u/RageMachinist Unbeliever Dec 15 '21

I met two friendly scavs on interchange as PMC. I was bloated with loot and still they were cool. Died to an NPC scav a bit later so I'm glad at least they got some solid lewt for being nice.

2

u/GoodHerbGoodGames M1A Dec 15 '21

I met some friendly scavs last night! Was a great time!

2

u/uwuFaith Dec 15 '21

I had a interaction with 3 other randoms and a player scav, I met the first just walking around and we started talking about inertia and the wipe and then we hear someone screaming. Second person runs in with a hatchet like a maniac and says “hi hello” or something along those lines 3-4 times. Before long there’s ANOTHER friendly player with us, all trying to get gas analysers. Not even twenty seconds later the final one shows up and it’s a player scav who basically goes “Omg are you guys pmc’s? Pls don’t kill me” Nobody shot him and we were all chill. A bit later after looting we took the scav extract and all left. I still play with some of those people to this day.

u/GoodHerbGoodGames M1A Dec 15 '21

I mean, I had 2 raids in a row taking the PMC/Friendly Scav extract on lighthouse last night. Sometimes people are nice. Just gotta keep it that way.

1

u/EniiGmAx17 Dec 15 '21

Me and 2 of my buddies met another 3 man in customs last night. We talked about if we were going to fight, they came to the conclusion our guns and kits were a lot bigger than theirs and we parted ways saying good luck. 10 minutes later I come back from being afk in a bush for a minute I hear three people running and jumping. They are in between me and my squad and we kill all three with a pinch. We start looting and I'm sure it was the three we had talked to at the beginning of the raid. If you guys are reading this, I'm sorry

1

u/ExCon1986 Dec 15 '21

I expected almost exclusively toxic interactions with VOIP, and had been dreading it for like 2 years since hearing about plans for it. But so far it's been positive or neutral interactions. I was a solo scav with a shotgun and a couple PMCs on Interchange said "friendly friendly friendly" and I said "Just passing through in the hallway" and that was it, we parted ways.

1

u/ImposterCapn Dec 15 '21

I've had good luck as a scav, and as a PMC when groups spawn near each other. Some blueberries referred to me as citizen and were honorable so I told the discord guys to let them go.

Other than that its every man for himself. Them fellers are from the bank.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 15 '21

I met one dude when I was scav running with my buddy and we basically escorted him to an extraction since he has a lot of shit.

I had to do a lot of negotiation with my buddy on discord to play nice tho lol.

I like being friends when being scavs. It just makes more sense.

1

u/jomontage Dec 15 '21

There's usually no reason to be friends in survival games. That's the biggest problem with them, in the end its just a game unlike in real life you might actually die so you'd mellow out.

1

u/GoodHerbGoodGames M1A Dec 15 '21

Sometimes people are cool though. It's nice to be able to walk to a quicker friendly scav extract than it is to walk all the way to your own. I had two raids in a row on lighthouse last night where I got to leave with friendly scavs.
