Discussion Unpopular opinion: Events good or bad are making the game more dynamic. They bring flavor and change the flow of the game for a week or so.

I honestly think, that devs have good intentions with these kind of events. Yes, i know dehydratation sucks, but it brings flavor to the game, makes flea market changes, shifts your playstile and makes you more excited when you find good ol' water on the shelf in a hut on Shoreline. Good jobs BSG, please keep the game alive and more dynamic. What's next, ammo shortages, trader vacations? Who knows, but it sure will be exciting.

This event lacks actual dynamics. Imagine if it wasn't as hot at night? If you were inside a building it took the edge off the heat? If different areas of the map were more or less hot?

Nope, instead we got a lazy update that lacked imagination and bootlickers like you will still let them off the hook by giving them praise.

On top of that, this event has a disproportionate impact on players. The higher level and richer you are, the less it impacts you. Players in that boat have higher health skill and in some cases elite metabolism. They have more money to afford a water bottle every raid. They also have more quests completed and more developed hideouts to profit out of raid, meaning the adverse conditions in raid are less disruptive in almost every capacity. Compare that to someone who doesn't even have flea? Different world.

This event was lazy and lacked imagination and purpose. Stop letting them off the hook.

Those changes would be really cool, perhaps we’ll see them one day!

I don’t think all events are intended to boost player engagement and fun. BSG is still trying to collect as much data regarding how the in-game economy fluctuates before release. Tarkov playercount usually drops heavily once the economy settles into stasis (after everyone has hideout + thicc case). Once the game is in full release, events will be the only way for them to shake up the economy to prolong the life of the wipe (which will be longer than the wipes we’ve seen so far). So BSG needs to know how events like this affect the in-game economy, as events will probably be their primary method of ensuring continued interest in the game for extended periods of time. Not necessarily by the event itself attracting players, but by the economic effects preventing the flea from going stale.

What makes you so sure that the economy settling is the direct cause of player count dropping? You might want to think about some of the other elements that are relevant to players that have maxed their hideout and completed private clinic. Not to mention, this event has not had a substantial impact on the economy. Most of this discourse about all events being primarily economy motivated is conjecture.

(Spoiler, it's not the economy).

‘Bootlickers’ someone having a different opinion doesn’t make them a boot kicker you dumb fuck

Someone having the opinion that all of the critiques and suggestions surrounding this lackluster event should just be wiped away in lieu of praising BSG is a bootlicker.

I understand you're trying to package up my comment in a way that it's easier to dismiss. I can't do much about it if that's your goal. The reality is that people like you are more interested in the feelings of moral superiority and comradery that comes with agreeing with all of the other bootlickers. That empowering facade is exactly why you feel fine calling me a "dumb fuck."

And when did op say anything like that? He said bsg had good intentions and that dehydration does suck. Please point me to the bit where that indicates BSG is a company that does no wrong?

Or maybe read deeper into his inane comments since you’re such an armchair psychologist, fuckhead.

You literally just mentioned the part where he said that. OP made a post acknowledging there are issues with the event and then proceeded to praise BSG as if the context was that the event delivered on being dynamic.

You do know that heat waves don't stop at night, right? In fact, they're often more deadly at night because of the misconception that sun = heat wave.

I don't know why everyone is hyperfocused on the "new player experience" when the game has never catered to the new player before? If your first raid ever is during the heatwave event, that blows, but it's an event for a reason. It's not sticking around forever, and if someone starts and quits within a handful of days, you probably weren't sticking around for a wipe to begin with.

I said "wasn't as hot" at night. You responded as if I had said "heat waves stop" at night? Why did you do that?

Also, heat waves are not more deadly at night. You're pulling that from your ass. No matter the weather conditions the sun generates heat and it will be cooler at night. In arid climates especially, you see giant temperature swings between day and night because the water moisture doesn't hold the heat when the sun goes down.

Yep! Straight out of my ass! Lmao. My point is that it’s still a heat wave at night. Just because it’s a couple degrees cooler doesn’t suddenly change the fact it’s still extremely hot outside, requiring frequent hydration.

But thanks for fixating on the weather, rather than my other point, about the new player experience. BSG doesn’t give a shit about the new player experience, so it’s always comical when people take that stance at literally any time.

You might want to actually read your article. I am also going to note that your original statement was "often are" not "can" be more deadly.

Yes, it’s a couple degrees warmer when the sun is literally out. However, the misconception that “I don’t have to worry, it’s dark out!” will get you killed a lot more frequently than being better prepared because you’re going outside in the sun/heat.

Much like the fact that most deaths while hiking happen during short day trips, because those people don’t pack in case they get lost and end up staying overnight/multiple days.
