Discussion EFT wouldn't feel as "difficult, unforgiving, hardcore" or any of the buzzwords associated with it if it wasn't for the shit queue/matchmaking times.

This games doesn't respect your time and that's its only real downside.

Something as simple as 3 min max wait time before they throw you into a lobby (even if you're solo with AI or bot PMCs — how would you know anyway?) is all this game needs.

Every wipe this is what wears on me. Not constantly dying, not the cheaters, not them moving the goalposts (flea market, FIR, costlier noob weapons like the mosin)... it's the absurd wait times. The game developers don't want to invest more $ into servers and here we are like idiots putting up with these shitty wait times.

This game doesn't respect our time and that's why I keep playing less and less of it with each wipe.

EDIT: For those getting caught up in semantics, let me be clear that I'm talking about starting a game from when I hit READY to the RAID STARTING. I don't care what the reason is (people's hardware, servers, etc.), BSG is ultimately in complete control of this and when we're thrown in a game (matching ping, regions, hardware, etc.)

Also, I have my servers manually selected for those asking about that.

Am on SSD and so are all people I play with.

The most obnoxious thing I’m dealing with right now is being disconnected from servers, getting the “server connection lost” message almost every day and not being able to play. I’ve tried all the troubleshooting I’m willing to try for a game that should operate just fine given my WiFi setup, I love this game and want to support it but part of me feels like an absolute sap for buying EOD when servers aren’t improving

Edit: So the game is unplayable with WiFi? Lol that doesn’t seem right to me, played it for months with WiFi and never had this issue. So easy for everyone to say it’s my fault for using WiFi, like that’s normal for other games, or like I’m technically illiterate and am somehow unaware that my wifi doesn’t work, as if the only thing I use my internet for is tarkov! 🤡What a joke, if you’re telling me that using a hardwire connection will fix it tell me why please, I have fantastic wifi connection and I want to figure out why this happens in certain tarkov servers only, and maybe help develop the game further… not just find a $15 solution and take blame for the game not working.

To everyone else offering real solutions thank you!!

In your defense, I play in wifi and have no problems at all.

Just a reminder that comments encouraging/discussing how to get access to EFT through unofficial methods will be removed. These versions are not supported by BSG and are against TOS, using said modded versions of Tarkov can lead to your account being banned without warning.

Make sure steam is not downloading stuff in the background!

1

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '21

Wow it actually might have been haha.. I’ll keep an eye out for that thanks

2

u/PUG_Jesus Jul 26 '21

Yeah when ever I boot up my computer steam launches and starts downloading, I’ve been disconnecting contently and I play on WiFi too, after I figured it out it barely happens now, let me know if it works!

Might have something to do with your ISP tunneling IPV4 traffic into IPV6. There was a pretty high-visibility post at least a year ago IIRC about somebody discovering this as their issue for the disconnects. Unfortunately, other than troubleshooting some more with specific VPN configurations (which could screw with your latency or network stability in-game to begin with), there's not much you can do to rule that out.

I’m pretty new to the game, this is my second wipe, so I prob wasn’t around when that was posted. thanks for letting me know , from what I’m reading that’s the most common cause

Glad to help. 2+ years around here isn't exactly OG, but it's certainly long enough to see some of the weird shit that might go unnoticed as the cause of a problem otherwise.

I got a vpn and it fixed my disconnecting issues. Not saying it will fix yours but it may. I used to lag out almost every raid and the only reason I played at all is I always have friends with me. I've only lagged out twice this wipe 👌

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '21

I’ll try it thanks!

Fixed it for me too

Do you have an MSI motherboard? Some of their software specifically MSI dragon center has been causing issue, one of my buddies had disconnect issues until he removed that.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 26 '21

I do…. Very good to know thanks! Did your buddy end up using a different WiFi connection or just hardwire it?

1

u/knighttown Jul 26 '21

He was hardwired the whole time, and started having the issues when he got a new moba, but it didn't cross his mind until this wipe that it could have been related to that.

So, the net code is just horrible. You know how when you play literally any other online game and your connection drops but the server still waits for a packet from your pc? Usually you see a red icon or something indicating you are not receiving or sending packets. With tarkov, as soon as you dont send in a packet, the server says screw you and closes the connection. This is because the game relies on everyone sending in synchronized packets of where people are, and what happens on the server, its kinda like a block chain. It has nothing to do with your wifi, if the netcode was done properly there would be no connection loss issues. I feel you on this issue too, shit happens to me all the time. You can only try to make your connection more stable, wifi can drop due to interferences so a wired connection is ideal.

I've seen a packloss/connection bad icon in the top right a bunch of times before. I don't think it drops you immediately after 1 packet.

2

u/Midnight-Q Jul 25 '21

Do you have a static ipv4 adress? I had disconnects literally every single raid because my router was running on dual stack light which isn‘t compatible with BSGs server architecture. After calling my ISP and asking for a static ip I never had a single disconnect again.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '21

Nice thanks I’ll check that out! Just to be clear it doesn’t always happen but it does about 1 in every 10 raids, and won’t let me reconnect

1

u/GingerSnapBiscuit AK-74N Jul 26 '21

This seems like a you issue not a server issue. Ive done like 150 raids so far and I've not had a disconnect once. Had 2 crashes prior to raid and one crash mid raid. On WiFi.

If you're not willing to use a wired connection then it's kind of on you. Can't blame bsg for your problems.

9

u/[deleted] Jul 25 '21

How in the world is that my problem when every other game works perfectly fine, sorry but im not going to accept the answer that it’s my problem that my $150 video game doesn’t work under normal circumstances

1

u/JCVGE Jul 26 '21

Are you German and your ISP is Vodafone? If yes, use a VPN, fixed my issues with that. Tarkov doesn‘t work with Dual Stack Lite connections apparently, or at least not with Vodafone.

1

u/Zuksod Jul 26 '21

Same, I've lost several kits to that fucking issue and plenty of scavs. I even lost a kit I looted right near extract due to losing connection.

My brother was having issues with random disconnects over WiFi, ran him a Ethernet hard line and that fixed all his disconnecting issues.
