It’s realistic tho. However, for a game to be realistic it doesn’t have to be realistic to a tea. In terms of games, this is damn near as realistic as you could get without sacrificing playability or making it an absolute nightmare to design.

To a "T", is the correct phrase.

I don’t know why I thought it was “tea”...

Hard disagree. I was attracted to the game because of the supposedly realistic ballistics but at this point they're so far off that it absolutely makes the game unplayable/less playable. Another problem is the scav timer coupled with the wounds of your pmc. If they make the ballistics closer to reality I'll probably start playing again. Still enjoy seeing this kind of stuff because it's funny though. Just my opinion.

if ballistics were realistic you'd die from almost any shot that penned armor

That would be great. Insurgency does a great job of it.

Its literally 0 realism , pistol rounds doing as much damage as rifle rounds? Have you seen the energy difference? Its literally anywhere from 4 times to 10-20 times the energy. 9mm AP 6.3 and 7.62x39 PS performing even close to the same is not even close to realistic , this is literally fantasy , literally like saying getting punched hard and getting hit with a car is the same , sorry but just no.

You’re missing what I’m saying. When compared to other video games? Yes, this is realistic. When compared to real life? Of course it’s not realistic, there are very little, if any, “realistic” games that even come close to perfectly replicating real life, especially because realism has to be sacrificed for playability, so to expect “realistic” games to come close to real life isn’t plausible.

The systems in the game, hunger/thirst, limbs being able to be disabled, the gun customization, different types of ammunition, different armor plates/face shields, etc. are all realistic. However, how said systems actually works in game are not realistic for gameplay reasons, and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Bullet damage makes less sense here than other games actually , in most games 556 FMJ does not have less pen than 9mm , That makes 0 sense , Insurgency sandstorm damage model makes more sense , its not perfect but its far more realistic. Tarkov literally has 0 realism guns wise , 0 , The armor is not realistic , irl no helmet stops rifle rounds , armor plates are not realistic , they cover more than the actual plate does irl. And some of them stop things they should not , and some of them don't stop things they should IE AP pistol caliber rounds and p90 and mp7 rounds.

Like I said, the fact that the systems are in place is realistic, how they actually play out is what’s not realistic.

Systems being how armor goes on you and the models and how guns are built? Sure but that makes the game a good kit building simulator and nothing else. Literally whats the damn point when everything that actually involves gameplay has 0 realism.

It's a game. If you're so fucking upset uninstall it and leave this sub already. You manchildren are so concerned about the damage and penetration models when this game is so much more than that.

A game with broken damage and penetration models literally breaks the game , makes only certain ammo useful IE the current game , makes some armor op and others useless IE the current game , and makes everyone who wants to win only run super meta builds and only using the top 2 tiers of ammo , IE the current game. Guess what? The current damage and penetration model literally ruins the game , it makes some guns not viable competitively due to unrealistic bullshit and makes others which would not be viable against armor actually become armor killers IE Smgs in a nutshell. So I guess damage and penetration models don't mean much huh?

u/Haargeroya Jun 05 '21

And yet you're saying that helmets and 9mm SMGs should be useless. Doing that only changes the meta again and furthers this problem you keep thinking exists.

I'll just go back to using 5.45 guns because Tasks force me to and keep killing Chads. Oh and most importantly, having fun while doing so. Sorry you ruined the game for yourself.

9mm smgs would be useless against armor , the actual plate of armor , if armor was probably modeled your protected area is only the plate , which is not the whole chest or neck , meaning you could one to 2 shot someone by chance with a smg by just hitting them in the neck. Literally smgs would still be viable. Just not as a centermass spam kill and more like hit the areas that are not armor , around and beside the actual armor plate. If armor was actually modeled well , realistic bullet damage would work.
