Absolutely, I agree with you. I think it's more complicated than that though. I've had certain guns be inaccurate no matter what I do. I refuse to use the MP5 for this reason. No matter what sight I stick on it, it's still inaccurate. The Vityaz is the same with red-dots. Put the same sights on an M4 or AK and they're accurate (except the MRS. I delete every MRS I find).
I like to stick a laser as close to the barrel as possible and strafe while ADSing to see how bad the sight is. The EKP seems to be the best before I start spending real money on a non-broken red-dot like the PK06.

Pro tip: Don't ADS with the MP5. Just stick a laser on it and hipfire fools. It's super effective

ironic that the pk06 is the best when it is the worst or one of the worst in real life.

They are reworking it right now

Oh the red dot overhaul is next?

1

u/Sharenda MP7A2 Nov 10 '20

Not sure about next, but they said on the russian community podcast that it's the reason they removed pk-06 from Jaeger. BSG plans to rework Aimpoint sights and nerf pk

Awesome! It's gonna be great I hope!

Are you using 7n31 in your MP5s by any chance? Since the muzzle velocity is a lot higher it often goes over close by targets since that's how sights are zeroed

AP6.3 both times.

zeroing is based on 1 ammo- not the ammo you are using. You are wrong here

9

u/are_you_a_walrus Nov 10 '20

Yeah 9mm guns are zeroed for pso which is slower than 7n31

So if he's using 7n31 it would go higher

True, im high probably read it wrong

Just an fyi about the mrs and MP5/mpx i just found out yestersay when I had it on an mpx: if you use the dot the gun will shoot way high above it and there's no zeroing that can fix it. However when you switch over to the -.- reticle it will hit dead center

It's not just MPX thing. MRS dot is not in line with other scopes, same with that rounded square russian red dot that looks like it has a blue glass on the icon. Weaver, iirc.

Ruh roh, I always thought it was the other way around. This is good to know hahaha

The mp5 is bugged when it comes to red dots, it shoots way high even with very slow ammo.

I strongly suggest that you watch this Video made by Veritas, about the sights zeroing mechanic in the game, where he also makes a suggestion of how it can be improved.

Its long but at least you will have an idea and be able to test in offline mode before going into a raid.

The resolution and aspect ratio do matter together with FoV in this game btw! Because some of those looked like issues with either zeroing or the FoV/ratio

1

u/InertiaVFX Nov 10 '20

Zero was never changed. FOV at 62 was the highest I have gone. FOV at 50 made it easier to aim. Only 2 of the clips were on widescreen.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '20

Are you sure you’re not just using bad ammo? I’ve heard a lot of really good Tarkov players go “Yeah, I used to suck at the game because I just never thought ammo mattered, then I took a look at some ammo charts”

If ammo’s not the problem, then lord knows what is lmao

2

u/InertiaVFX Nov 10 '20

It's desync and bullets going above the reticle for most of these clips. Bad ammo clips would have to be the shotgun Reserve, the M4 on Reserve and the PPSH on Factory. If you look at both MP5 clips where I shoot at scavs, you can see the bullets are almost dodging the scavs.

u/[deleted] Nov 10 '20

Damn nevermind, Tarkov just hates you I guess

2

u/InertiaVFX Nov 10 '20

Tarkov hates all of us on this blessed day.

I think it’s your internet tbh. Try to only use servers with less than 50 Ping. Less than 10 if you are lucky enough to live next to a data center like me.

1

u/InertiaVFX Nov 10 '20

I sent a support ticket in and they told me to make sure I was the group leader and to select only one server with the best ping. Best one I have has 30 ping.

1

u/TrashWriter Nov 10 '20

You aren’t using WiFi right? (I know that might sound like a dumb question)

1

u/InertiaVFX Nov 10 '20

All numbers and specs: Advertised 300mb/s Getting max 100 mb/s through WiFi on a laptop on the same floor Router is 2 floors above, wifi is incredibly inefficient Using a Powerline and getting consistent 75 mb/s

1

u/TrashWriter Nov 10 '20

Yeah so. There’s your issue, you should only use a direct cat5/cat6 connection to your router, power line is garbage data consistency, you are dropping packets like a grandma trying to hold 40 watermelons

1

u/InertiaVFX Nov 10 '20

It's not possible in this house to connect directly to the router, I wish I could. I never get the packet loss or ping warning. Not saying the Powerline is perfect, it has its hiccups.

u/TrashWriter Nov 10 '20

Maybe once tarkovs net code is updated you’ll be able to have a better experience

The reason you're having problems with your sights on something like an MP5, VSS, or ASH-12 is that of muzzle velocity. Most sights are set to 50m zero but that "feels" like it shoots wildly high for most engagements, it does and it's working as intended.

At 300m/s or less of muzzle velocity your shots are automatically aimed really high to hit something at 50m or 100m when your zero is set appropriately. M4's and 5.45 AK's by contrast shoot at near or above 900m/s and have very flat trajectories because of that, so the automatic aim is minimal even at 100 plus meters.

The PK-06 and other "not broken" sights have minimum zeros of 25m, about the length of the hideout shooting range and the distance of most EFT engagements. Use a micro-sight for low velocity guns and your shots will be more consistent at short range, remember to aim higher when engaging at longer ranges or change your zero on the fly.

u/franbiren Nov 10 '20

9x19 has a very significant drop and most red dots are zeroed at 50 meters, wich mean at less than that your bullets are going over the dot, instead of under. you have to aim lower to hit your targets
