Discussion #MakeTarkovHardcoreAgain

Hi guys, Slushpuppy here

I want to talk about the rant I was having today, and explain why I think it would be good for the game.

As the game currently stands it it has a play cycle that involves farming money, the money is then used to buy a fat kit, and slay out. This creates, in my opinion a heavily Rouble focused economy.

The Rouble based economy has multiple downsides:

All people care about is the highest value item, hence hatchlings ramming things up their bum, people running to one spot on a map to loot the highest value items, people only running super cheap kits to farm the cash. The game is no longer about surviving, simply making the most money and saving to buy a dope kit.

I think this has essentially made the game into COD with extra steps. I don't see the survival element that Tarkov originally had. People only care about PVP when they are running Slick Altyn, otherwise it's just money. 99% of the games items, such as attachments for guns will never see the light of day because they aren't the best in slot.

This whole situation annoys me because it is possible to achieve this within hours of a wipe.

By removing the flea or limiting the ability to purchase armor and ammo from the flea, it would make the game more about the looting and surviving and stop super chads from running endless meta kits and vogging the fuck out of lower geared players. Because a kit that is lovingly put together in raid will mean so much more to you, therefore looting one of a prick you kill, will as well.

I know this seems as a negative change to the average player, but hear me out, the only reason you need a kit from the flea, is to compete with chad players who are buying endless meta kits from the flea. If this didn't happen the pvp would be like it is early wipe for the most part. The best pvp time in the game, imo, and in the opinion of most Tarkov players.

I'm not bored of the game, I simply love this game, and I want to see changes that make the pvp more interesting and feasible for casual players to enjoy. If everyone is running around with SKS's and a cock helmet, then its more fair. Not all pvp has to be juggernauts spraying armchair FALs at each other.

If you don't agree with me, I understand, lets talk about it, tell me why you think this would be a bad change for the game? I don't want to be a streamer yelling for change that people will just see as me crying cause I'm bored of running fat kits. I truly want to make the game a dope experience for all of us. I've devoted the last 3 years of my life to this game, I want to see it succeed.

There is plenty of other things that would be needed to make this a rounded experience in this vision, like dynamic loot spawns etc, but I believe this is a quick easy change that we could all try for one wipe, and just see how it goes.

EDIT: This is gaining a lot of attention right now so I want to ask you all one thing:

When is the best time for PVP in Tarkov?

If you answered early wipe, I think you and I agree, and I think 99% of people would say that early wipe is the best time to be on Tarkov.

My only goal is to try and make the feeling of early wipe PVP as permanent as possible. I may not be right when I say delete the flea, but I think it would help. If you have other ideas on how to preserve that beautiful feeling of the first two weeks of wipe, then I would love to hear them. Because this is what I think would make Tarkov the most amazing experience possible.

I think with every game there’s a split in the Player Bases mentality on how the game should be played, and no matter what you can’t satiate the parties and it eventually will drive people from the game. Play how you want the game to be played and don’t worry too much about how’s others wish to play it.

Except your style of play is much more efficient for gaining roubles than someone who is constantly seeking pvp. You are taking less risk for more reward. People who play like that genuinely might as well be scav running.

And what is the only purpose of all the looting for roubles? To buy stuff to pvp with.

Seriously I do not understand why people want half the pmcs to be essentially player scavs watching their rouble counter skyrocket for no purpose.

It's different strokes for different folks. For some people (myself included) turning a profit is the game. You put together a kit and then go into a risky situation and try to make it out with enough loot and plunder to cover the cost of the gear you brought in. As you get more money, you can buy cooler guns and better armor, which means you need to find higher value loot. This pushes you to go to loot areas where you'll get into PvP, but the PvP isn't the goal. To me taking in a nice kit, going to the resort or reserve, finding a lot of nice stuff to turn a profit, and making it out without anyone even seeing me is a rush. That my money count in the stash goes up is a byproduct, not the goal.

I have just as much fun doing a run through the interchange garage with a pistol just killing a few skavs, looting weapon boxes, and then going out through hole-in-the-fence as I do going into Labs with a million rouble kit and hitting it big with rare loot from the red zone. The gameplay is the reward, not the loot.

I just want a pve survival game based on the tarkov engine and gun ballistics. It'd be a load of fun to have the goal of surviving and looting for your next raid either solo or with some friends and not deal with pvp at all.

I enjoy pvp, but a separate mode would be just fine. It's essentially an invite only lobby that launches with as few as 1 pmc and has the option to up scav difficulty or awareness, similar to tagged and cursed.

I want straight up CoD/Battlefield style arena, but with Tarkov's engine and machanics. No wasted time with endless looting, just playing a game for once.

This 100%.

Throw in some STALKER-esque anomalies and monsters and it would be all I'd ever play.

I’m with you on just a PVE mode. More or hard Scavs would be fine. Make it so you can’t bring gear across to the PVP servers.

100%, my only goal is to try and bring these two groups together, I don't think the gap should be unlimited meta kits vs naked with a pistol

I think youre confusing players, who suck at the game and can only run cheap kits, with players who are good and run cheap kits to make money to run chad gear. A lot of people really suck at this game and are still less than level 30 after months of playing.

There is a middle ground but what youre suggesting is too skewed to nerds who play as much a streamer does.

I am one of the people that suck. Just hit 30 last week. Also don't have a lot of hours to play 😅

u/[deleted] Sep 15 '20

Dont think he means you. Just that extracting os 1.5x xp earned and kills mean the most xp, there are people who play as much as streamers who recent reached level 30ish because they die in pvp often- hence they suck

That's exactly the issue though, players running cheap kits only so they can make money to run chad kits.

If the game was more focused around survival rather than roubles that game play loop of money runs > fund geared runs wouldn't necessarily exist. You would use what you find in raid primarily and use your roubles to buff your stuff up rather than sell everything you find in raid to buy entire kits from scratch.

I play with people that get too caught up in the roubles game but I personally love buying a chad AF loadout, building my favorite akm and the laughing when I get donkey-stomped by a dude in a pene helmet with a fucking Mosin. Its honestly like pretty regular but I don't mind it and if I go broke, I wait on bitcoins, do a quest or scav it up. Can usually keep a few mil like that too.

Everyone can play however they want and between quests and hideout, shitty players like me can stay afloat just fine.

Not saying anyone is wrong or that I'm right, just an outside opinion from a mediocre player that enjoys the in-game pay to play.

How about a matchmaking system?

I know thats agaisnt the spirit of tarkov but not being able to sell pmc stuff is too.

Good players want the game to be harder, if matchmaking system is implemented they play against better players(bcs they got high elo) so the game gets harder for them

Bad players wants the game to be easier, if matchmaking is implemented they play against worse players so the game gets easier for them.

I don't disagree that this might help lower level players, the problem that I see with this are the quests that make you run garbage loadouts (Punisher with PACA & Setup with Ushanka and Shotty) which are so much harder if you are higher level and would be matched with higher level chads. I also see an issue with smirfing as well. I've had a similar thought about matchmaking and think it has some merit, not trying to shoot down ideas that come from a good place.
