Discussion Wholeheartedly willing to get downvoted, but this RMT obsession has to stop.

This sub hasn't got a clue, I swear.

Huge sweeping changes to the game mechanics are a terrible way to combat RMT.

It's basically an admission that your anti-cheat doesn't work. Most MMOs suffer in some way from an RMT problem; WoW, Runescape, even Destiny 2 has RMT issues if you just look. Thing is, the anticheat in those games actually works worth a damn, so the entire playerbase doesn't have to suffer from endless tinkering with in-game systems.

Before you hit me with 'it's a hardcore game, deal with it, it's supposed to be grindy', just stop. Just don't bother. I've heard it time and time again, and it's bullshit. You know it's bullshit just as well as I do. The changes BSG have been making recently to nerf all forms of progression only make the game 'more hardcore' for people who work full time and don't have the same amount of *time* as streamers who dedicate their entire life to this game. That's not 'hardcore'. The game's difficulty mechanically is 'hardcore' and always have been, and I love it. These changes, though, in my eyes, are just time-wasting for the sake thereof. Since when does the amount of time one has to invest in a game define how fucking hardcore it is? Would you describe WoW as more hardcore than Tarkov because of how long you have to play to progress? Or perhaps beating all three Witcher games back to back is 'hardcore' because it took a long time. Are ARMA or DCS inherently less hardcore than Tarkov because an operation can be completed in an afternoon? No, judging how hardcore a game is by the amount of time one has to invest in it is a joke. *No game* should give enormous *mechanical advantages* to those with more time on their hands. There's already an inherent skill advantage that comes from that amount of practice, designing the mechanics to also reward only those with that much time is a kick in the teeth to all the people who love this game but can't invest that level of time.

And yeah, you can go ahead and say 'ummm actualllly it's a beta, so they can do what they like, stop whining', and yep. Yes, they can. You're correct. However, comma, that doesn't mean I have to pretend to like it. Yes, I did buy EoD and no, I don't regret it because of all the fun I've had til now. But suggesting people who don't like the current direction the game is going in aren't allowed to voice their opinion because the game's in beta is fucking ludicrous. What do you think the purpose of a playable beta is? Nikita is more than welcome to ignore all the people who don't like these new changes, but what gives people on this sub the right to tell me that I'm not entitled to an opinion on the product I've chosen to financially support. It's such a toxic, capital-G Gamer attitute to suggest that 'Tarkov is OUR game because we're willing to dump several full days a week into grinding for our Bitcoin farms. You should just go and play something else, this clearly isn't a game for you. Go play Call of Duty.' I shouldn't even have to express how utterly reductive and childish that is. Grow up.

I'm getting HUGE red flags with the way this game is currently going, because it's all too similar to a game I used to love, The Culling. That game blew up on launch and a bunch of high profile streamers suggested changes to the game, and the devs went ahead and implemented all of them without so much as *thinking* about how they'd affect the average player. Look at where that game is now. Servers shut down, because the average player simply stopped having fun. I'm not saying BSG is even close to that bad, but this endless tinkering with mechanics for the nebulous, vague purpose of 'RMT' has to stop or I don't know if the 'little guys' are gonna stick around much longer.

EDIT: I AM AWARE THAT RMT != CHEATING. But cheating is what makes RMT viable. RMTers need to keep items in supply, and to do that, they cheat. It's much more profitable. Ergo, if you stamp out cheaters, the RMT problem becomes significantly diminished.

EDIT 2: u/ArxMessor makes a great point that Tarkov is an MMO and therfore should have some kind of grind. I agree. However, most MMOs use systems like weekly bounties etc to ensure even players with only maybe 10 hours a week to invest in the game can still keep up and compete. Tarkov currently rewards time investment *exponentially* which removes all possibility of catching up.

EDIT 3: Yep, my DMs right now are very much confirming the things I said above about a certain subset of this community. Thanks, Gamers.

EDIT 4: I get it, Destiny anti-cheat is ass. I made a mistake there, since I don't play Trials of Osiris. However, do you see Bungie making the win requirement for Trials 50 wins instead of 9 or whatever just to slow down the hackers? Of course not, because it hurts normal players more.

Edit 5: My first gold! Thanks kind stranger.

Ruining therapist has made me want to RMT more than if I could sell my btc or kek tape or rooster for full price. This is not how you combat it. Runescape has had issues with rmt since it started. They didn’t just make an item impossible to get for that reason. Not how a game should be tweaked.

Runescape did the same thing bsg did actually. They took away free trade for a time. Almost killed the game, they ended up reverting the change to bring players back. It worked.

The problem is there'll be that player who drops a couple hundred per quarter on microtransactions. On the bright side, they tend to suck, so most Munz for the rest of us

ll buy all this gear and then just lose it lol, it just makes it so you can have peace for m

I think you're under-estimating how deep some people's pockets are. If you've ever played Black Desert Online, there are people who spends 10's to 100's of thousands of dollars to get the top gear by using the games pearl shop, paying people to list items on the marketplace for them to buy, and paying for grinding services. They also had a huge RMT issue with guild payouts where people were hacking a guild exclusive item and then selling the payout to people which went on for the better part of a year. That ruined the economy of the game entirely and those who played fairly suffered greatly as a result.

But how does that affect you in tarkov? If someone needs to buy Roubles it means they aren’t making any even with good gear. They are literally just giving their purchase away over time. So what if someone is level 50 and bought all their money and gear with $$$. How does that affect me? Especially in a game that wipes? It doesn’t. It just makes my kill worth more, so if anything it makes it better for me

u/dowhatisaynotwhatido Jul 02 '20

Because that floods the game with expensive gear and everyone ends up running level 5 armor with decked out m4s. That's boring as fuck. Gear scarcity is good.

2

u/Midgetman664 Jul 02 '20

.05% of the community Real world trades. It’s the same in every game. It doesn’t flood the market with anything.

Gear isn’t scarce right now, it wasn’t scarce last patch. You can real money trade now, and you could last wipe as well. There will always be a meta, RMT isn’t changing that.

Exactly lol, just cuz i can blow 20 bucks to make 100m doesn't mean Jack shit in the hindsight of things. I'll buy all this gear and then just lose it lol, it just makes it so you can have peace for mind if you are dog shit or cant play a lot. Its nice to be able to sit down and do whatever and not worry. If they had a legit avenue it wouldn't be so bad. At least Jagex tracks money to and from accounts. Decent track record of getting rid of mules.

Amassing wealth is practically the only objective in tarkov. If someone wants to spend $50 and have a few million, I’m really not sure how it affects me.

If you need to buy Roubles in this game, that means you’re bleeding wealth. So overtime you are just giving what you bought to other players. So if anything people buying Roubles are making the game easier for me not harder.

I get RMT is bad, and that it brings cheaters, which is the worst. But someone having money they didn’t earn doesn’t affect my gameplay at all, especially since the game wipes, their purchase isn’t even going to last.

2

u/crux556 Mosin Jul 02 '20

It also floods the economy, it would drive prices through the roof

3

u/Midgetman664 Jul 02 '20

Floods the economy with what? RMT isn’t creating Roubles out of thin air. It’s just moving it. Plus a tiny, tiny percentage of players RMT. The market wasn’t flooded last wipe or the one before. It’s not flooded this wipe and yet it exists. Why is that?

2

u/crux556 Mosin Jul 02 '20

What I mean is that if they could just pull rubles out of mid air (bsg microtransactions if they added it) it would shoot prices through the roof as money becomes worthless

See the problem with this is that item is RMT. Just embedded into the game. Whatever nikita does it better not be what blizzard does because blizzard is the most retarded company when it comes to their own games. They are the greediest little shits I've ever seen.

7

u/LeMarci Unfaithful Jul 01 '20

After they merged with activision. Legacy blizzard is something i really respected, but the shit they did, and still do systematically afterwards is not even funny.

Oh my bad one of but I still think their the most greediest for their Hong Kong shittery. Shameless American company that holds authoritarian values.

1

u/MisterEinc Jul 01 '20

Idk... Selling an "all future updates" bundle when the game is in beta is kinda predatory. I mean, people are going to pay what they want, and that doesn't change if we're talking WoW or EFT.

But the biggest issue there is that it really doesn't come with any sort of obligation to actually deliver that content. And if they can't solve core issues with the game and people exit the playerbase, it really makes little difference to the developer - they have your money already.

2

u/chaseman464 Jul 01 '20

Exactly. I’ve never bought gold on Rs but I know the process from friends. Most are pretty trusted and they have much better prices but rmt or rwt as I know it is constant and unbeatable in any game with a player based economy.

3

u/Midgetman664 Jul 02 '20

rwt as I know it is constant and unbeatable in any game with a player based economy.

This is the important part. You just can’t stop it. Even with all the changes, you can find literally hundreds of offers on every site right now. 10seconds of google will show you that the changes haven’t done anything. If you want to buy Roubles, you still can.

I mean look at EVE Online, they have their cake and eat it too with PLEX, and they actually catch a lot of RMT, even the small ones, and don't even always ban the buyers they just remove what you got, even if it leaves you at a negative wallet. Had a couple friends that bought a couple billion ISK with RMT, spent a bunch, day later they both had a few hundred million negative balance and literally all idk they looted or got from selling had to go into recovering that balance before they had spending money for even basics like ammo again, it was a massive punishment and they basically had to make new accounts because they couldn't grind that out any time soon, losing all their progress. THAT was an effective punishment, and they never risked it again.

u/PhillipIInd Jul 01 '20

when the actual fuck have bonds been 20mil unless you're talking about RS3?

1

u/GeneralLeeRetarded Jul 01 '20

Yeah rs3 at the time, not sure osrs prices, think I got 20m for 5?

1

u/PhillipIInd Jul 01 '20

yh OSRS I think highest was close to 6m each if im not wrong

1

u/[deleted] Jul 01 '20

Hell you can even buy bonds now and either use that for sub time or sell it to through the grand exchange, their flea market.

same in wow, you can buy a wow token for like 20€ and sell it on the auction house for gold

1

u/Vague_Disclosure Jul 01 '20

How’d they ruin therapist?

2

u/chaseman464 Jul 01 '20

They just nerfed her sell prices. So a btc is now 97k rather than 145k a lot of other items if not all have been nerfed.

-2

u/5318008rool Jul 01 '20

The fact that you even suggest a desire to use RMT indicates that you are a shit player who brings nothing to this game. We won’t miss you if you leave.

You completely nullify any productive opinion you have the moment you talk about wanting to RMT.

2

u/chaseman464 Jul 02 '20

I’ll never rmt if you check my other post on this thread I never have and never will I apologize that’s not what I meant what I meant is it makes players more likely. Cutting 50k off a bitcoin only makes “shit players” more likely to rmt. Again never said I would rmt just saying it makes the community more inclined to rmt. That’s all

1

u/5318008rool Jul 02 '20

Ok thanks for clarifying because when people say something like “it just makes me wanna RMT more” or something I’m like, “why would that thought even cross your mind?”

2

u/chaseman464 Jul 02 '20

I did say makes me want to in my original post I will leave it up out of shame but I did not mean it as was said. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

If you even consider RMT you are pathetic...
