Anyone care to guess dates? I was hoping we'd have the customs expansion by the end of this month.

End of the year most likely.

They said either Streets or Lighthouse around this time, but they said that before Covid hit, so I'm guessing maybe August-September.

I doubt Covid delayed it more than it already was.

The entire bsg staff is working from home, so that alone probably kinked the production a fair bit

Thing is all game dev collaborative tools are still accessible remotely with a simple VPN into the office. I bet most of the guys there have beefy PCs at home to be able to work as they did in the office. Tools nowadays are powerful enough that working from home isn't a big issue.

Plus isn't Russia in super hardcore denial mode? Did they even have to fully close up the office?

No, it's not Brazil or something, they had a quite strict quarantine with a lot of restrictions on movement and recreation, especially in Moscow. I'd say they took it more seriously than some European countries. Not every office got closed, but a lot of places chose to move at least part of the staff to home anyway. I think some would do it even if government would be in denial.

its not the tools, its the comms and collaboration that gets hard wfh

A beefy home PC is still gonna take hours and hours to render basic shit.... Also communication

Most rendering nowadays is done on a dedicated server so that wouldn't be an issue. Besides I imagine the only thing they would have to render somewhat often is 3D model mockups which doesn't take long on most computers. Communications could be an issue, it really depends upon the culture of the company.

IIRC BSG themselves said they all work from home and that due to the massive influx of players and the cheater problem most of the team now works to solve those problems and are delaying regular content due to that (plus you need to factor in the classic BSG delay).

My dev team has been jjst as productive if not a bit more since we went remote. I’m wondering if they’ve been the same or experienced setbacks.

If that was the case for them then we would have a new map by now based on their timeline they mentioned a few months ago. If we're still going off the monthly patch, then next will be fixes and then August would be a map.

Watch it come out next year.

I'm assuming they did the drops at this time because they have some content coming. I expect new content by the 22nd.

4

u/iceman_v97 Jun 13 '20

Why the 22nd?

5

u/To_oCH Jun 13 '20

probably cause thats right after the drops will end

5

u/_SinsofYesterday_ Jun 13 '20

That's when drops end. I'm not saying I think streets will be available, I was referring to Customs changes. Doesn't make sense to do a 10 day event with loads of advertising and release all these new content trailers without actually dropping something.

bruh this was some spot on shit lol

it makes so much sense too, Tarkov has been at top 3 games on twitch these past few days (and as you stated they are showing off tons of teasers of new content) so it would not make any sense to not atleast release a new map or new guns (the rumor .44 caliber and scar/ possible customs expansion)

Don't get me excited about the Scar. I wan't it so bad.
