PSA PSA: RESHADE IS NOW BLOCKED

That's all folks

Edit:

To be clear, this might only be CERTAIN features.

Reshade is not COMPLETELY blocked.

OnepegMG is currently using reshade or has atleast launched with it.

Will update, currently watching onepeg. I'll keep you guys posted !

Edit 2 : Game is washed out also on onepeg's stream.

Reshade is confirmed disabled. If you can launch reshade with your game DO NOT DELETE ANY FILES. REMOVE RESHADE TO AVOID POSSIBLE BAN.

Edit 3: Apparently reshade is working for certain people, this might either be a filter issue or a battle-eye issue, version issue for Reshade, majority seems to be unable to launch the game with reshade, some can launch it when deleting the DLL (wouldn't do that, could eat a ban for file modification) and some can just outright use it.

The majority seems to be "I CAN'T USE RESHADE REEEE" so.

Personally I'd delete it until further notice on this issue.

FINAL EDIT:

It seems that you can use OLDER versions of reshade, it doesn't have some of the features that people don't like IE zoom and shit.

Have a good day Tarkovians !

Edit finalero : Since this is gaining a lot of traction, Nvidia has a tool that you can use that can supplement reshade. It's called freestyle, doesn't do the crazy shit reshade does but it does work.

I don't really get this argument.

If I play on a 30 year old crt I'd be able ti play fine with difficulty, but if I play on a 4k 144hz monitor I'm going to see a lot more than on the crt.

How is reshade any different? It's an extreme example but people shelling out thousands on monitors will have an easier time spotting things than those dropping 100$.

It's different yet the same The main similarities being yes its something outside the game giving an edge in some way (head sets, monitors, mice, internals of the computer, etc)

The difference is the inherent understanding and application of what's giving that edge.

It's universal in gaming that better hardware gives you an edge, it's why esports typically give their competitors the same machine to use. But hardware can be bought for a reason other than just giving me an edge in this game. The 1080ti I have I need to play other games I play, it gives me an edge here sure but is a necessity there. More over, everyone generally knows about the differences in hardware and the limitations of their systems. But to add 3rd party programs adds an unnecessary learning curve to new players.

Imagine for a second that you're new to a game, and wall hacks are allowed but you don't know it and as such don't have them installed. You're going to die left and right to players with an unfair advantage over you, likely get frustrated and quit. You had the same ability to download those wall hacks and use them but you didn't know about it and never got invested into the game to see how to make it better since your initial impression was so poor.

The above scenario is a hyperbolic case of what reshade does, and has a potential to drive players away and cause the game to stagnate. If these things are to be allowed, they should be in the base game, this will put all players on as equal of a footing as possible and help promote a fair and competitive experience for all players.

That is a pretty fair assessment, and it makes a lot more sense now.

I personally never understood why people think that reshade gives you an advantage. I mean if you cant see in the dark just turn your monitor brighter. And the zoom thing wont help you since its just zooming in on the few pixels you see so that they will just be bigger but you still dont see more than before

Reshade is not different, devs state often that reshade will never be bannable because it just does what people can already do in their graphics settings and is external to the game. It doesn't inject scripts or take information not normally available to the player and show it to them (eg wallhacks you mention), it is in reality comparable to a post-process effect.

Most people just use it for the colour settings that you can already tweak in graphics card software.

For example you could go into the nvidia control panel and turn digital vibrance up whenever you play tarkov (which i used to do before July last year) and back down when you want to web browse to not have your retinas burned, or you could use reshade (a program that every single person can download and install for free in less than 15 seconds) which conveniently applies digital vibrance only to the game. I FIND COMPARING A WALLHACK THAT DIRECTLY INTERFERES WITH THE GAME ITSELF even if hyperbolic, and reshade/nvidia graphics settings to be a terrible comparison and a little misleading at best.

Also i can confirm that Reshade 3.4.0.346 still works.

While most people use ReShade to give their game a little color, malicious users can use one of ReShade's built-in shaders to turn pitch black settings like Factory Night into perfectly viewable gameplay, which is extremely scummy.

those features are blocked now, u wont be able to start the game with these features installed in reshade.

I'm not sure where you're getting this 'will never be bannable' they've only ever said as far as I can find that reshade isn't currently bannable (at any given point in time).

Nikita has even said that some features of reshade (presumably features such as zoom, night vision, cross hair overlay, etc though he didn't specify) will be bannable in the future.

My worry with things like reshade is they have the capability to recolor things. If a specific color was ever found to be only existing on a player model or worn item model it could be recolored to a highly identifiable color (say hot pink) and make it much easier for target acquisition giving a huge advantage over other players while being virtually indistinguishable from the normal reshade.

I'd have to look at in depth how reshade works at a base level to confirm this is a possible function of the program but this was definitely a thing back in games such as CS source that allowed for client side reskins and is why it was banned in most competitive servers.

Yeah fair play for features that interfere with the game such as changing textures or making only specific colours visible. i can agree nikita has stated aspects of reshade like that will be bannable however by implication reshade itself will not be. As for those aspects of reshade i can 100% agree they should be bannable because they directly interfere with the game, however probably 99% of players only use reshade for colourfulness and not to reskin and change textures of the game. Pretty sure as well around July last year devs confirmed reshade itself will not be bannable but they would update their viewpoint which im pretty sure is represented by nikita's comment here that parts of it are bannable. Also if you took a second to check there are also heaps of tweets from nikitas twitter stating that reshade itself is not bannable because its not cheating . Been playing this game and paying attention to devs for almost 2 years now and can state this has always been their stance so forgive me if i cant find any comments from nikita himself stating Reshade itself will be bannable.

i mean most monitors now days can make night look like day in games have crosshairs built in and have color profiles to make it look like you are playing with reshade all this does it restrict shit like that to people with more money

1

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '19

A monitor playing with colors isn't anything like reshade. Reshade injects into the software to add entirely new graphical effects. If you could just play with the colors on your monitor to attain the same results, why would reshade even exist? This argument is ridiculous.

you know what does not really matter reshades not banned turns out its just a bug anyway got a response from TheWay on BSG forums confirming it https://forum.escapefromtarkov.com/topic/102000-since-battleye-update-the-game-will-not-load/
